Ha. Guess that throws my theory out the window.

Orin Oscar Lutwidge being R Killian Quain makes sense. R.Q. Red Queen. Seems so obvious now. I guess the reason nobody thought of it before was Lutwidges aliases have always had the O.O.L. initials.

Does anyone know where the other pages of the report on Tenenbaum's disappearance are?

Well... I confess I wasn't expecting that. Shocked Confused

Although when you think about it, it was kind of obvious...

Okay, this raises a few questions, such as why he suddenly took an alias that wasn't an O. O. L. name. Yes, R. Killian Quain could easily be "Red Queen," but it breaks with his pattern.

Hmm, perhaps it was the first alias he took after becoming a splicer, and he felt as if he wasn't Orrin Lutwidge anymore? New face, new naming convention?

And why "Killian" for his middle name?

Mybe, he was scared of something from Rapture following him, or something else in his past coming back to haunt him, so he avoided the O.O.L. name so it wouldn't be obvious that he was Ludwidge, but then why would he write the Utropolis stories? Maybe Rob Killian Quain was his real nme and Ludwidge was just another alias.

....not sure if it is relevant, but I laughed when I thought about it -

Anyone ever had Killian's Irish RED? Very Happy

After a quick Wiki - It seems that the brand has been around for a long time - definitely in Mark's, for sure. So, Red Quain/Queen.

Might be a stretch but a fun one!

Well I did some quick research to try to figure out why Lutwidge would choose R. Killian Quain as his new name.

Killian is an Irish and Gaelic name meaning small and fierce.

Quain is french in origin and means clever, quick.

The only thing I can think of that's small and quick are the Little Sisters. Perhaps Lutwidge thinks he's Alice from Through the Looking-Glass, the pawn who reached the other side of the board and became a Queen.

So, a tiny tiny bit off topic (I know, I know)

I was looking around in a text book about world history, and I found something that just creeped me out and made me think of Something in the Sea. aparently, in like 1000 b.c., there were these guys named the Hittites that totally screwed off the babylonians by beating them in combat and then just leaving and not capturing them. but, that's not the point. See, later on, the Hittites, one of the strongest warrior empires at the time, were just plain defeated by a people known to historians only as the "Sea Peoples". Sounds like rapture to me. XD some beleive it ties in with the myth of atlantis or lemuria. but, eh, just thought it was interesting. when I have weird thoughts, I want to make sure all of you know.

On a more serious note... Quain/Lutwidge is defnitely Alice. He's obsessed with the book about obsession, Alice in wonderland. So, if he's Alice, and I'm guessing Ryan is the Queen (in which we're running his elaborate race), then who is the white knight, and what is his question/answer?

I just had a thought. What if Mark IS the White Knight. And his Question is "Where is Cindy?" and we all know the answer to that one

oh, hold up. This new letter indicates that O.O.L. is the red queen. so he's not alice. Or, maybe O.O.L. is, but Quain (split personality disorder?!) is the red queen. so, he's running around in wonderland AND he's making up the race and rules. so frustrating... I like the Mark is the white knight theory. but, we probably won't know for little while longer who this knight of ours really is..

YESSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!
I went on the site just prior to heading over here and all I could think was "Where'd everything go?" so I clicked the bottom drawer. Nothing new there. Wondering what might possibly cause 2k to remove so much material from the site, my cursor passed over the 2nd drawer AND IT LIT UP!

also, new message from Lex Harlan:
Quote:
Hey, this is Lex Harlan. You keep calling! I don't know where you got this number, but why don't you lose it? And as far as Killian Quain goes, check into Tollevue Mental Hospital - that's the last place I saw him. Oh, and tell you what brother, sounds like maybe you belong there yourself!

EDIT: It was Tollevue, not Toll View. /shrug At least I was close.

I groaned when I read the slip of paper in front of the typewriter.
"Of course Rod means Red"

Lutwidge is definitely Quain. He named himself R. Quain either in honor of the Red Queen (the Big Sister) or because he sees himself as the Red Queen.

In Through the Looking Glass, Alice travels across the board in hopes of becoming a queen. Along the way he meets the White Queen (who's sleepy) and the Red Queen (who's very rude). Lutwidge might see himself as Alice because he reached Rapture (the other side of the board) and gained great power (ADAM).

Backwards?

I have been following this ARG for awhile and finally decided to post and help out. What if we have the whole alias thing backwards. Rob Killian Quain could be his actual name while Orin Oscar Lutwidge and the "OOL" variations could be fakes. Why would he use the OOL's so much and then out of the blue get a new name, unless he is telling us his actual name. And OOL has been missing, but we have new details of Killian Quain in a mental institution. I like the alternate personalities theory though, that makes some sense of this whole thing although it is a longshot.
There is something else in "OOL", and I dont think we found it yet.

there's a new note in front of the door where Mark is making the connection that R. Quain = Ludwidge and that Mark = Alice running the Red Queens race. running and running only to stay in the same position as before.

also another phone messege:

Quote:
Mark? Hello? this is Dr. Lyman(sp?) over at Tollevue.
I received your message and, well, to be honest
I can't divulge any information about any of the other patients in the facility.
And if the individual you asked about is indeed in the long term restricted ward we don't have open visiting hours anyway.
But I do encourage you to come by and talk. I know your wife Amanda has expressed concern and you do sound very much on edge. Please, let me know if i can help.

they think he's crazy Razz
