Yeah, I'm pretty sure it's just the outside of the box repeated. Nothing to really look into unless someone wants to.

Just checked the site again, nothing seems to have changed.

Wow, he beat me by over 24 hours, and used a different method of finding the right combination. Another poster deciphered the message in much the same way. Perhaps we should link them here and compare notes?

Just throwing a few ideas out there...

1. on the map with the articles, the police report (largest paper in the lower left corner) states the creature as tall, limber, and athletic.
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
this could be the Big Sister, the new "bad guy". Big Brothers are not athletic.

2. the letter that is on the wall of the main site asks people to send their info to an address. possible entry form?

new to this ARG, but just speculation...

With the locked box unlocked, the letter on the wall is the only lead remaining, but it certainly is puzzling... Certainly, we are expected to send letter-sized envelopes (self-addressed, stamped?), but with current info. He says no Atlantis/Lemuria data, meaning not to talk about Rapture. But then what are we to tell him?

in the letter, it says to update his contact info, and to send addresses for anyone that wants to see his research. perhaps just an address (and maybe a name) is all that is required...

now to go get a stamp...

Story Theory

Alright so what we know so far is that Meltzer discovered the Big Sister's activities and started tracking her, and as a result his daughter ended up getting kidnapped. He tracked her again and actually managed to catch the Big Sister in a trap. That did not end well for poor Meltzer. The Big Sister attacked him, pieced him up and broke his leg. Meltzer continues to work, leaving his home in disarray and then, according to the police call, a red light was seen at his place, and everything's neat and clean save for a new addition. The puzzle box.

Theory: The Big Sister went to tie up the most obvious threat to her and Rapture's existence. (Obvious) The question is, why did she bring the puzzle box? (Other than 'this is a game, go with it') My guess that it was a test. If Meltzer could figure out his daughter's message and open the box the Big Sister would reunite them. My theory, Meltzer is back to being his little girl's Big Daddy. A happy ending for everyone...in a really creepy kind of way.

plausable

nice theory...though i would like it not to be meltzer...doubt it would be.
do any of you remember Masha from the first game?

if you do:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
what if she is the big sister?

the reason im thinking this is because she got lodged in my mind from the first time i heard about her and i cant seem to forget her...and in bioshock one they didnt elaborate enough to give her full story but enough to make her a memorable character...

so your thoughts?

oh and do you think i could mail him from china?

I'm thinking similar to those lines, but at a different angle.

What if it was the daughter's idea to bring the puzzle box? Big Sister wants to keep things going in Rapture, but keep the Little Sisters happy, right? what if the daughter made the box, gave it to Big Sister to deliver?

god i need coffee.

Thanks for the summation! It helps keep things straight! Sometimes I get so caught up in following the puzzles that I get the actual plot muddled. lol.
So we send a self addressed envelope to his updated address? Is that the PO box or the Fairview house?
