One of D. H. Carmady's letters wrote:
Preliminary indications suggest that Lutwidge is NOT working alone. He appears to communicate with an accomplice who assists him primarily in forging documentation (such as the various suspect documents that led C. Roget on her "wild goose chase" in Himalayas).

In intercepted communication, Lutwidge generally refers to this individual by codename "Red Pawn".

Identity of Red Pawn has not yet been ascertained.

I know I'm not the only one who thinks Inman is evil, does anyone else peg him as Red Pawn? We know he's tried to turn Mark against Celeste, and seemed a little too friendly at other times.

Lutwidge's second audio tape wrote:
Listen, listen to me. The pawn was crafty. He knew his craft and more, always more, than he let on. Do you see; the prophet is the pawn. He does not deserve the answers. He mastered the game; he crossed the board, but never divined the secret. There are sixty-four steps in the journey's next leg, eight-by-eight the key, seven-fold the lock. Someday a seeker will come aboard. The secret will unfold before him, but he must beware the pawn. The pawn desired nothing more that, to derail the knightly tour. Doctor, I am, uh…I'm sorry. I can't go on today.

Hmm... this sounds more like Jack, though... but I could be wrong.

interesting
something I found

I may be going way off here but just check the 5x5 chess out here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Minichess#5x5_chess one of the types has the white knight where the only button with 2 letters is and one of the creators of this mini chess was martin gardner who made the book the annotated alice in 1960(the same year as a lot of the items around the room have on them) I just have a feeling that this has to be going somewhere.

Interesting. I love Martin Gardner, and I remember reading about 5x5 Minichess in his book The Unexpected Hanging, and Other Mathematical Conundrums, but I didn't know The Annotated Alice was first published in 1960. I'll have to check out that book and see if there are any clues in there.

Dash Carmody, or something like that, is the PI's name.

Site update: Celeste called. She's been getting late night calls, and they found Lutwidge in some basement. The mystery unfolds.

Ok here's my theory. Lutwidge went to Rapture and started working Atlas. Atlas sends Lutwidge back to the surface to trigger Jack with "WOULD YOU KINDLY". Jack may be "Apollo" that Lutwidge refers to in the second patient interview.

The "Red Pawn" is most likely another disciple of Lutwidge, one that he is afraid of.

7 fold the lock?

I have a question about a certain thing lutwidge says in a few of his recordings. He talks about how their is this 7 fold lock that Rapture is behind. what could he mean by that? is it a number of puzzles that mark has to solve or something different?

Idk if it has been said yet but i think the 7 fold lock could be to do with the 7 oceans?? Seeing as the ocean will be marks final obstacle in reaching Rapture...
So the key would be a bathysphere?

I dunno, long shot, has been a looooong day =\

(and sorry if this is double post, i've been having trouble posting recently)

Break in?

Has anyone noticed/commented that it would seem that someone has broken in to Mark's office?

Look at the doorjamb near the knob.

We're missing a part of puzzle. I think Mark will find it at the basement where Lutwidge was finally caught. We shall see.

Over by the lamp on the far right side, there is a new threatening letter that arrived by mail. Someone else is protecting the Rapture secret.
