I assumed he was talking about the short wave radio, as pretty much everyone still talking on the radio is either killed by Jack or dies as a result of his actions (Langford), except for Tenenbaum of course. However, that means Lutwidge would have to be in Rapture to get a signal during the time, so perhaps he arrived before and left after Jack did.

Also, we should look back at any 'Queen' reference. They could be pertaining to Sophia Lamb, the woman who's taken over from Ryan.

Sophia Lamb
The Red Queen?

That seems very plausible. In the video it did say that she was around before. It is possible they are hiding her or she could very well be someone we know using an alias (I doubt it). If she is the red queen then it would mean that lutwidge would have some grudge and this would also support lutwidge as the white knight. Lutwidge could also see himself as Lewis Carol and refrain from making himself a character. He may feel like the writer, like he is the one with all the control.

That can't be it, since he says in one of his psych recordings:

Tollevue: Sixth session of "R. Killian Quain wrote:
"Rapture? Rapture is too much for anything sane! I should never have gone... but in going- I never should have left! There's no return... I cannot help but think that all has ended! I watched it all from afar, from my Manhattan cavern I watched the signs from afar. I knew the day I heard it on the radio... when Apollo fell... and splashed into the sea! Surely- Atlas has fallen! For all the signals have grown silent. Rapture is dead... and there are none to raise it."

From his "Manhattan cavern, he says." That means his warehouse. And a short-wave radio doesn't have nearly that kind of range.

Now, it's probably just some better type of radio that just has amazing distance so long as you have the exact right frequency and/or some special decoding filter. This is a story about a city on the ocean floor, after all, and a drug that allows you to move things with your mind and shoot fire and ice (and bees, of all things) from your hand, so surely someone in Rapture could have designed a better radio. But I don't think it's a stock excuse to clumsily tie in the events of the first game, Mark is surely going to wonder what "signals" Lutwidge was raving about.

I've been reading this for awhile in hopes of finding the answer to the 5x5 puzzle in the music box. Well, just so everyone gets some general info about the game they posted a new video with an interview with Geoff Keighley. Check it out, who knows it may help.

http://www.gametrailers.com/episode/gametrailers-tv/76&ch=1&sd=0?ep=76&ch=1&sd=0

something interesting to note from this is that they say there are multiple Big Sisters...interesting

Another thing also, yes there are multiple big sisters but there is also THE big sister, the first big sister and it has already been revealed that she is the one who is abducting the children. Another interesting thing I found was that each big daddy was bonded to a single little sister, since our big daddy (that we play) is also the first to successfully bond we can assume that the little sister we bonded to (I can't remember her name, they say it in the video) must be the first big sister.

Which would further explain why the first one had to be woken up. And I still support the theory that this BD is one of Ryans sons. Maybe twins...but that is something we will find out in the game.

Did no one notice the hilarious message from Stango on the answering machine from Friday? If you haven't heard it yet, go check it out, it's priceless.

Short wave radio can be used to communicate over great distances, especially using unusally short wavelengths, and single sideband (which some of the messages sound like they are). Also depends on atmospheric conditions.

I hope it's not really his last message. He's my favorite character. He's also one of the most valuable allies that Meltzer has; he's the only one that Meltzer can trust for certain with all the confusion thrown at him.

I don't know, passing from one side of the city to another may be plausible, but could it still work through the water over such a great distance? Maybe Lutwidge is referring to a specific contact, like Fontaine or Ryan, who was keeping track of Jack's progress before dying? Perhaps the radio he mentions is a news report or some something similar summarizing the crash, and Lutwidge recognizes the location as the frozen triangle?

I agree, he could be a very valuable ally...

Sorry if this has nothing to do with what people have been talking about recently, but I just played through the 4x4 one more time... Where did we get the idea that for the 5x5 we're supposed to enter a question? Lutwidge just said that the White Knight's question needed to be answered. So maybe it's not the question that needs to be entered but the answer to the question. Of course, without knowing the question, we can't really answer it... :\

i dunno. But great work thus far, everyone! Very Happy

Uh, we do actually know we're supposed to put in an answer instead of a question, we've known it for a while. The reason we're puzzling over the question is to find out what question we're supposed to be answering.

First off, here's bit's and pieces of the White Knight's Song:

The White Knight's Song

"Who are you, aged man?" I said.
"And how is it you live?"
And his answer trickled through my head,
Like water through a sieve.
He said, "I look for butterflies
That sleep among the wheat:
I make them into mutton-pies,
And sell them in the street.
I sell them unto men,"
he said,
"Who sail on stormy seas;
And that's the way I get my bread--
A trifle, if you please."

I tried putting that whole answer into the 5x5 box, but it didn't work... of course, I might have slipped up once and hit the wrong button without realizing it. Bang Head

But yeah, I'm thinking we may just have to wait for another update before we'll get the answer...

Hmm... on the other hand, when I google searched "White Knight's Question," I found an entry from a Rackin essay on Carroll, where he claims that the "autobiographical" White Knight's question is:

"What does it matter where my body happens to be? My mind goes on working all the same?"

Probably just a tangent, but you never know...
