Good call Sage, it's a solid thought. Hoping it leads to something. I'd look, but wouldn't know where to start.

There's something about the "Spring '67" pic that bugs the hell out of me. I can't put my finger on it, but that picture tweaks me for some reason.

same here... something's out of place in the picture, but i can't openly tell what it is.
EDIT: but then again, something's out of place in all the pics...

When exactly was his daughter taken?

the last pic he has of her is in october...

unless you count Cindy A. Meltzer, who was taken on October 21st/22nd.

Edit: Sage: look at the news clipping in the archive... it somewhat dates the kidnapping, but it seems especially strange. Mrs. Meltzer's name is spelled "Amandad".

I'm not sure you should count Cindy, though... There are some unusual factors:
1. The girl does not entirely fit the MO. She seems to be blond, or a light brunette.
2. This is the only case where Big Sister went counter clockwise. Montauk, where she was taken, is on Long Island, in New York. The map indicates she was already in New Brunswick on October 1st.
3. It may have been an aggravated attack on Mr. Metzler. He says she may have followed him from NB.

this all just raised the question: why was he trying to get a pic of Big Sister BEFORE his daughter was taken?

THAT'S what was bugging me about that picture!

If you look in that pic next to moms' hip, it almost looks like Big Sisters' helmet lurking in the shadows.

It seems it was more academic investigation at that time. As he says in a letter to Roscoe in the archives, part of the reason was because he felt "she fit the profile" (underline his).

I thought so too, first I saw it. At the time though, Big Sister seems to have been in Europe, or crossing the Atlantic ocean.
I think they're just standing in front of some sort of canvas or cloth, perhaps used to alter the lighting for the photo.

that's a reasonable thought. besides, in the "birthday party" pic, there is a girl that fits the little girl's profile better than his daughter. (near left edge, with the headband)

but something about that doesn't sit right with me. there has to be more to it than that, IMHO.

there's more to it than that. the mother seems distacted in the taking of the photo. who/what is she looking at?

it looks more like an open doorway. if that is the case, someone would have noticed her in the shadows/in the house.

Ah. You're right. That's what makes it look so odd. The room is being illuminated by a flash in a dark room.

maybe the mom was a resident of rapture, possibly a little sister from rapture, and then came out. then she became angry, irritated, and felt some need to become a rosie of sorts... but she's never really disappeared, all we know is that a divorce was in order... huh...

Yeah, you're all probably right. That picture just makes me all O.o for some reason, and was really hoping that was it.

this is the point in the day where i start to second guess things.

Now, i'm thinking that we are overanalyzing things, and maybe we should just wait and see what the lead with the letters brings us.

maybe the note on the map about the patterns isn't for us, but a lament that no one else in his world notices the pattern of disappearances.

maybe there is no spoon.
