And here I thought 2K was paying attention to the players' progress.

New update. Mark's finally figured out the cipher.

The solution still doesn't work, though.

Message from Inman on the radio. He's forwarding information about the boat.

[TIAG]Does 2K just not realize we've solved this already?[/TIAG]

Yes. Liz, 2K community manager posts on the 2K forum from time to time. Apparently my puzzle hacking did not go unnoticed over there.

Oh Liz was fine with it, it's everybody else that freaked out. Razz
And I can understand, for them these puzzles are an intellectual challenge, and something to hold them off until the game comes out. Very different from Unfiction, where we are used to scouring EVERY clue and using ANY method to find the solution. We've seen craftier puzzles from ARGs.
In any event, something in the sea is incredibly well done, possibly the best viral marketing I've seen. So much serious research and creativity going on.

I thought it was incredible when it was just the bulletin board. But now... This is almost as good as a full fledged game... I guess we just gots the mad skillz... 2K forumers could learn a thing or two...

Just listened to the message from Inman, and all I gotta say is, LC, we hit the nail on the head. The U336 was sunk in the Straits of Denmark. So what do we get from this though? Anyone have any ideas on what to enter in as a solution?

Well, we already know what to enter as the solution (NYDYDYEW), and now we're just waiting for them to program the box to accept it.
After that... well, could U336 be the "Baldur?"

For those too excited to wait for Marks lawyer to give him the coordinates of U-336 i have my sources. She sank at 62.43N, 27.17W, as for the wreckage leading to rapture U-336 is not alone up there, there are at least 8 other U-Boat wrecks within spitting distance (figuratively of course!)

Are any of those U-Boats named the Baldur?

Im not so sure about the names of the U-Boats, the database im using for the most part only has the U-XXX numbers, some have names, its possible that one sunk a ship named Baldur, il do more digging and post then!. As for the lawyer thing, sorry for being uneducated, im terrible with names.

Sorry for the double post but i have found something possibly relevant to our hunt for the baldur.

A steam ship, originally British built named Jacob Christensen, for a while it operated as a cargo ship, at some point she was scuttled (sunk on purpose), later the Germans raised her and rebuilt it, she took on the name Baldur after her rebuild. Later on the Baldur was sunk by a British submarine via torpedo. Im not sure if this was the german captain or the other guy but at one point before or after its renaming it was captained by a certain August Konow. The Jacob Christensen was originally built in 1920, well within our time line.

Okay, so all we have to do now is wait for them to code the box to accept the NYDYDYEW solution, and we'll be able to test our next theories.
