I agree with joe; that's just the gap in the rocks. Note that it's the same color as the sky.

UPDATE

A note on the floor saying that Meltzer finally got the puzzle box open. (So I was right that Meltzer hadn't opened it yet.) He's confused, not sure if its from his daughter or a hoax, and says he needs rest.

Another note by the phone on his desk of Meltzer's scribblings, just more of his concern that it is his daughter but that it's as if she's 'changed.' It also says some weird stuff like 'flying sharks.' Also a little meta-jab at how he sees this all as a 'sick game.'

Reading the notes, its also clear he doesn't trust Inman, Isidore, and the rest of his supposed allies.

Also, where's he getting angels from? Is he talking about the dead splicer in the drawing?

one could presume that there is a letter in the envelope (in the puzzle box).

it explains Rapture from a child's point of view.

the angels = dead people
the monsters = splicers (Maybe big daddies?)
and, well, flying sharks = flying sharks (from a kids' view, sharks above you, even underwater means they fly)

it's a little too out there for any normal person to believe that there is a hidden city, but there is that part of everyone that wants to believe. this is what Mark is struggling with.

i think that when (if?) he gets our letters, it will push him into doubling his efforts, and discovering the truth, breaking him of his unbelief.

More like he doesn't trust Inman and thinks that everyone else is a nutjob. It's not exactly helpful that he's right and most of his allies are crazy paranormal kooks...but even a broken clock is right twice.

the letter on the floor (from most recent update) says that he will "start fresh tomorrow".

presumably, he will clean up the mess, put it into the second folder, and that will be the pause in the game until next week.

...or, he will clean up, and get a whole new thing going over the weekend.

Here are some audio clips I found of the Little Sisters speaking of "Angels".
Don't know if we ever expected any leads from that, but here they are anywho.
Vo S 1 Ga Angelsoon.wav
Description  Here's an audio clip from Bioshock regarding "Angels". I believe she's speaking of people who have died with the ADAM still inside their stomachs.

Hi, I'm new here, but I've been reading what you guys have posted here, and its been helping me understand more about this office.

I just noticed the new papers on the floor. That's why they let us scroll around the room. Theres papers next to the door under the lamp as well.
There's a picture of rocks... It makes me wonder if thats a "secret" way to get to Rapture, or some type of hide out?

First, welcome to the discussion. it's always good to have another set of eyes for a fresh perspective.

Second, we discussed the rocks a page or two back, and it seems the general belief is that the rocks are a "red herring", if you will. something cooked up as a comparison by the odd people that Mark has to deal with.

whether or not there is actually something in the picture is remained to be seen. we should have an update monday, and hopefully there will be some answers...
