Just out of curiosity, how did these guys get your mailing addresses? Is it by sending Meltzer a letter or something?

Never mind y'all. They seem to be the same so far, which leads me to believe their just some sort of serial number.

Rapture Records

This morning I got a Package!

So heres the Sleeve
Record Side A
Record Side B

The number etched in Side A is
Quote:
11819-1352-7 rAi R-21815

and on Side B
Quote:
R-21816

Unfortunately I had to go to work before I had time to dig out an old record player and hear the audio, but I'm looking forward to it later tonight.

If anyone wants anything specific let me know.

EDIT: Side A is the "Rise Rapture Rise" song, and on side B the song is interrupted halfway with the little girl's voice, then continues. So pretty much the same thing as on the website. (I'll see what I can do about getting some audio up here.)

If you could find a way to post the audio that would be amazing. Just please let us know what you hear asap please.

He's also moved a bunch of stuff. The record is Rapture's official song I think. Not sure of the title but it's the one that you here in the 2K record at the beginning of bioshock--Holy crap! I nearly jumped out of my chair jeez! at the end of the record Meltzer's daughter starts talking! She says "Daddy? Where are you Daddy? Are you going to come and find me?" Shit! I wasn't expecting it. Freaked me out.

Been on vacation so haven't been able to do my usual updates for people who like to catch up, so I'll nutshell as best I can.

- Meltzer continues to explore info on the Vanishing
- Isidore goes on a radio show spouting UFO inanity
- Meltzer finds the story of Celeste Roget, who went looking in the Himalayas for the Vanished.
- Celeste Roget tells Meltzer to back off
- Meltzer gets a big beefy tail and manages to ditch him in the subway
- Meltzer tapes an anti-commie rally who blame the Vanishing and the kidnappings on the reds
- Meltzer gets a new Important Name: Orrin Oscar Lutwidge
- Message from Lynch about a book that details a nautical area
- Meltzer receives a record with a Sander Cohen special and a creepy message.

Questions:

Orrin Lutwidge: He's mentioned as a puzzle maker. Is he the one who made the lunchbox? Is he the one who wrote the Utropolis story?

The Record and the Lunchbox: Why is Meltzer getting these things? Who is giving these things to him? If it is Big Sister, then WHY is she giving Meltzer these things that put Rapture in danger of being exposed?

My theory is still the same, at the end of this story Meltzer will be reunited with his daughter and become a Big Daddy (not the one you play as).

P.S. The new wall letter that mentions the West Coat? That's mine!

Here is a GREAT theory from one of the users at the 2k forums

Kyburz from 2k Forums wrote:

Alright guys, let's put together the pieces. Lutwidge seems like a complex guy.

Oscar Orrin Lutwidge

-Most famous for being an inventor, sold several lucrative patents in reproduction/printing.
-Created some devious devices that toymakers ultimately rejected because of their difficulty.
-Highly intelligent and talented in many diverse fields.
-Wrote books for young people.
-Worked in cryptography during WW II (perfect for creating the cipher that is on the box.
-Unlike traditional Vanishing researchers who stayed within their niche, Lutwidge was able to assimilate the knowledge of disparate groups. Demonstrated skills in diplomacy by his ability to maintain positive relationships with factions who were antagonistic to each other. Notably, he corresponded with Celeste Roget.
-From 1956 to 58 he changed, became more erratic. Started writing children's poetry, "nonsense phrases' and swore to find "true rapture" before disappearing.

Here is why he is our game's primary villain.
1. We are told these facts for a reason. We are told about his skills in cryptography and his ability to create devious puzzles because those are EXACTLY the skills you would need to create the lunchbox.
2. The contents of the lunchbox imply that he is closely involved with the little sister project.
3. The fact that the Big Sister delivered these packages implies that she is taking orders from him.
4. Lutwidge's skillset would make him an excellent replacement for Andrew Ryan.
5. These things factors combined make it very likely that he is our game's primary antagonist.

All of this new knowledge allows us to view the situation with Meltzer in a much different light. We all had our theories why Big Sister would deliver these clues and messages from his daughter to Meltzer alone out of all the parents. It now seems like this wasn't the choice of the Big Sister, but a highly calculated move on the part of Lutwidge.

Perhaps because he sees Meltzer as the one person who seems to truly understand what is going on with the Big Sister kidnappings he actually sees him as a kindred spirit. He could have had Meltzer killed at any time if he saw him as a threat, but perhaps he sees some of himself in Melzter in his dedication and ability to look for answers in unorthodox places. At least, he may think Meltzer could be useful to have around. Maybe he is trying to lure Meltzer to Rapture and these pieces we have seen so far have been tests of his ability. To what end, i can't say, but I think he finds Meltzer a very interesting fellow.

Man, I am going to have to ban myself for spamming the board with so many posts but Lutwidge really is the key to everything.

His last known correspondence on the surface was in 1958, which means he did not ever get to see Rapture in it's prime. We also know he left in a hurry, leaving projects unfinished and various business arrangements in disarray. Rapture started to go to hell in 1958, and really went south in 1959. He is likely to have reached Rapture in the 58-59 period, the height of the civil war.

Although he would have been a complete stranger in the midst of a society in collapse, this could have been to his advantage in some ways. He could have seen Rapture with fresh eyes. This could have allowed him to formulate a plan to take control, post-Jack. His skills in diplomacy on the surface could have allowed him to triangulate the various factions in Rapture to unite behind his leadership.

Also, his skills as an inventor would have allowed him to create the Big Sister's armor. His knack for invention could have been a motivating factor (or at least one of the reasons) for the re-introduction of the ADAM-based ecology. Perhaps he saw some kind of potential or application for ADAM that Ryan or Fontaine did not. He also was good with children, as his writing children's books and poetry would suggest. He could be a more prudent administrator of the Little Sister project than the brutish Fontaine or the profit-focused Ryan.

I WHOLEHEARTEDLY agree with this theory!!!!

Thanks, the quality's great. And thanks for the theories Cado, They're very interesting. Meltzer's getting closer, but according to the archive we have 3 weeks left. I wonder what new surprises will be waiting for us?

Meltzer's done astoundingly well but, unless I'm forgetting or missing something, he's found every name associated with Rapture (and then some) except for the Big Three. I think as soon as he starts poking around Ryan, Fontaine, or Tennenbaum's names the Adam's gonna hit the fan.

well, this recent update/series of events blows all my assumptions to hell.

in the meantime, i am done with the presumptive nature i have with these games, now i will sit back and see what unfolds for Mark. he has realized that Rapture IS a real place, and now he is trying to figure out where it is.

random thought: has a release date been confirmed for the game?

edit: i got my record. see later post.
