Thoughts

With all this talk of the Torch of The Statue of Liberty, which makes sense to me, does anyone know of any obviously reflective buildings/monuments with visual distance of the monument? I can't find anything, but actually lighting the lamp, or using some directional equipment (I like the InfaRED Light Idea) could have a dramatic, beaconish effect on anything that is large and reflective.

The Torch

The torch in the time frame of the game was still a glass light... now it's a gilt sculpture of flame.

Not sure if that had been brought up yet.

That gives us multiple possible vantage points within the statue, assuming the next clue is in the statue.

The admonishment about the dawn's ray might mean some sort of revelation occurs there at first light through, say, an arrangement of cunningly disguised lenses in the torch?

 Somewhat off track
Theory's

Now i'm new to this thread but i've read the entire thing, and i was thinking, in the wiki it says that your big daddy you play as can use vita chambers, which would mean that in some way shape or form you are either related to Andrew Ryan or were given advanced clearance somehow, by Andrew Ryan. Now originally i assumed his son we never met, but then i moved away from the cliche and wondered if maybe the first Big Daddy is Lutwidge. Now going backwards from this assumption you can assume Ryan told Lutwidge something about possible changes in evolution, or simply changes in the people in his grand city of rapture which could be why Lutwidge talked about the Red Queen, as a clue to rapture or as a precourser (spell?) to what one would find should they manage to arrive At Rapture.

If this assumptions been made before i apologize, i may need to re read an pay more attention Smile

Another idea
As to the red queens gems

Now according to wikipedia and many posts in the past the red queen is a way to describe evolution, and going off that definition couldn't it mean the gems of the red queen are people who have evolved in ways that make them gems above others, possibly people who Lutwidge and Ryan believed to share Ryans idealistic views, people who were trusted with the next clue towards Rapture?

Once again just a guess maybe it will help.

Assuming nothing in Rapture has changed in the decade between the two games, you are correct on the Vita-Chambers, but, with Ryan presumably dead and Rapture under new management, I would think that some changes have been made in the intervening years.

Could be advanced individuals, could represent plasmids -- the fruit of Fontaine's and Ryan's genetic experimentation...

So, having read this forum from the start and been following along for a while, I have an observation/hypothesis of my own to offer up.

Tenebaum survives the events of Bioshock 1 and to my ear speaks with a french accent.

Celeste has negative opinions on Lutwidge, has tried to "find rapture", and was the "Only survivor". Also, french accent.

While the accent may be the thread I am tenuously tying these people together with, is it possible they are now the same individual. Celeste may have very well died up in the mountains, and a dead person can't complain about identity theft.

Tenenbaum has a German / German-Yiddish accent, unless my ears have gone tin on me.

Correct, she's Jewish/German. In game she was referred to as the "Kraut" by several characters.

The German market is seen as a bit... sensitive about certain symbols and historical events.

New MSG on the Answering Machine

His wife I think... a little on the book and a little on current events...

Edit 2:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
She say that she recalls their daughter having the book and that Mark bought it for he -- the kid was crazy about spy stuff...

Also, there is a listing on some of OOL's real estate holdings lying on the table, next to the cipher book.

Edit 1:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
The real estate is mixed -- a small manufacturing facility, a residence in Queens, a building on Park Avenue and a warehouse near the Hudson.

about the update...

the message from his wife has a warning, saying that she has been having unpleasant contact with Det. Stango.

the property invoice also has an "Arden N. Wray" building, another anagram of Andrew Ryan.
