Map overlay

I heart this forum.

So here's my contribution : (hopefully) attached is a map overlay of Mark's and a world map.
Not the best, but it gives a general idea I guess.
Thoughts?

good work. could you try that with the map in mark's house? early on in the thread i believe there is a blank version.

On the record that Mark found in OOL's building there is a phrase that states

"#0 = le fou"

Earlier in the thread it was thought to be le fon. I disagree.

Le fou in french can be translated as "the madman" or "the insane one"

Since the update with the bellman's chart, I believe #0 fits in somewhere with the other numbers on the map.

or something else entirely. It could also me a reference to the mad hatter.
OOL specifically wrote that down for a reason. It shouldn't be over looked.

I've been following this for a while but I haven't really thought of a suggestion til' now.

I was thinking Jeremiah Lynch could be Lutwidge. It would fit Lutwidge's personality and it would help draw a parallel to Fontaine's deception of Jack with the Atlas persona (Atlas and Lynch also have a similar accent). It's fairly obvious Lynch knows about Rapture and consistently tries to poke Jack in the right direction and is always keen to see the progress that he's made. The more Mark rejects the notion of an underwater city he gets from Lynch, the more evidence of it Lutwidge pushes towards him. If Lutwidge is not Lynch, perhaps there is at least a connection?

The problem with this would obviously be Lynch is meant to be 71 and a fisherman in Ireland for many years. But I'm just putting ideas out there...

It's crossed my mind, to the point of trying to remember what Lynch's given names were in the middle of the night.

Lutwidge / Lynch does have at least one initial in common, although it is a break in the pattern of OOL...

a quick Google on "Jeremiah" reveals a few interesting things...

The name itself means "the Lord Exalts"

Jeremiah is also famous as "the broken-hearted prophet" (who wrote or dictated a "broken-hearted book", which has been difficult for scholars to put into chronological order), whose heart-rending life, and true prophecies of dire warning went largely unheeded by the people of Israel. God told Jeremiah, "You will go to them; but for their part, they will not listen to you"

Jeremiah 29:11 "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."

It would seem to fit Metzler's circumstances and, outside of the OOL habit of Lutwidge's, not an unreasonable pseudonym... although Lutwidge seems more partial to other books for his inspirations.

I subscribed to the Bioware twitter and look at what they posted:

Wierd that they were the ones to twitter it but... anyone at Comic Con?

Also #0=The red triangle, aka Rapture? (I'm pretty sure that it corresponds with the coordinates told to us in the first game)

So, having read this forum from the start and been following along for a while, I have an observation/hypothesis of my own to offer up.

Tenebaum survives the events of Bioshock 1 and to my ear speaks with a french accent.

Celeste has negative opinions on Lutwidge, has tried to "find rapture", and was the "Only survivor". Also, french accent.

While the accent may be the thread I am tenuously tying these people together with, is it possible they are now the same individual. Celeste may have very well died up in the mountains, and a dead person can't complain about identity theft.

Hi Long time lurker lol. In the game tenebaum talks about the concentration camps during the war, most of the camps were in Poland. I have lived with polish people and can speak it, I would say she is Polish, perhaps of german decent with a name like that. is very similar to the german for Christmas Tree (Tannenbaum).

Also, about the signalling in the tower, the human eye can see a single candle light from about 16 miles away i think, less light pollution of the city would make it about 8-10. just a thought...

I have some friends who went, they are SUPPOSED to report in to me about Bioshock related things. Lets see if they do.

Makes sense -- the German Jews who emigrated to Poland in Medieval times kept themselves apart from their Polish neighbors, living in ghettos (prior to WW2, a ghetto was an area of the city under Jewish law, a privilege for which the Jews paid to have), so they retained their Yiddish, but there would have been at least a little drift.

Signaling with an Aldis lamp is readily directed, limiting the chance of discovery. A modified Aldis lamp, say, with an infra-red bulb, would be almost undetectable in the era we're discussing.

I think that is short-hand for "possibly."

That said, I'm curious what the third item was -- I see the map, heard the tap... but what is the last item?
