your welcome, thats much like what i heard, plus i heard what sounded like a man saying help once around the 13:29 mark and again about 15 seconds later, but it might be something else. also sorry if the quality wasn't up to par, i had to drop it from a 192 mp3 to a 128 mp3 to be able to get whole recording up cause, by the looks of it, the entire thing was filled with interesting audio. it really helps when you can view the waveform of the audio and not look at a time bar.

Some of the sounds sound like a Spider Slicer, grating their hooks -- metal scraping on metal... sort of a "step, scrape" or "step, drag..." There are sudden changes, as if someone turning the tuning knob. Low garbled speech, followed by static...

Snippets of music ("Rise, Rapture, Rise"?)

Most of the "voice" still sounds like gibberish, like coming though a speaker not made for that much output...

I thought I head the phrase "don't know when," but that could be my mind trying to impose some order on the noise...

(About halfway through... need to take a break)

i agree, there is much gibberish, but it takes some listening to to be able to hear the words. for example, i've heard what sound like someone saying "i'm ready now" before some of the "Rise Rapture Rise" clips, but as you said, it could just be my ears playing a trick.

That chime sounds like a wrench on a bell or heavy bit of metal free to vibrate. The sounds of an explosion? More radio noises.. More gibberish -- I can't tell if they're words spoken in some sort of echo chamber or honest gibberish... something that sounds like a helicopter, followed by radio noise again. Always that step-scrape...

Then the sound gets very clear.

Crowd noise over static...

Some of the noise sounds like a thermin (sp?)...

A lot of things that *almost* sound like speech. A lot of electronic noise. And always that step-scrape -- Big sister walking, dragging that needle on the floor behind her, mayhap?

my thoughts exactly, that crowd noise sounds like either people cheering or screaming, sort of like the crash in the first game. everything else is on spot with what i was thinking.

From one of the more recent BioShock 2 podcasts, they did mention increased interaction with several "unspiced" citizens and people in general in Rapture.

So yeah, I don't think this is so much a marketing ploy as a backstory to actually seeing someone in-game. Mark and his daughter.

From the first game during scenes in the Little Sister Orphanage and the housing for their experimentation entails that Jack as well as the little sisters had their memories re-written for more successful missions.

Little sisters aren't only transformed, but genetically and biologically brainwashed to fit Rapture's needs. So yeah, something with the daughter and Mark will be a big turning point in the game I'm sure. Cool

The mental conditioning was less genetic and more psychological -- I remember the positive and negative reaction training chamber -- pick the Big Daddy and get potato chips, pick the mother figure and get hurt. I'm sure there had to be more in a similar vein, but it was brain-washing, not genetic manipulation. The implantation of the slug provided them with invulnerability and I'm sure that some level of genetic manipulation was necessary for that, however, but their behavior is the result, primarily, of psychological condition, backed with some splicing -- if they can use pheromones to put a leash on the splicers, I'm sure that the Little Sisters were cake.

NEW BOX 3/8/08

I have been following this for quite a while now and today noticed a card board box on the ground in front of the filling cabinet. is this new or have i missed some thing in the 2 weeks i was gone.

it seams that it is a metal chamber, and to unlock it you have to slide the symbols around until they disappear, i got one to disappear but i don't know how.

Tile removed

the first tile i removed was the 4 horizontal line [these symbols are the same ones from the lunch box] move it to the 2nd ring from the center directly under the R and it will be taken off the board.

I was basically insinuating just that. Thanks for clarifying. Razz

I agree that they will definitely be an important part of the story, however I do think that it is suggested that the player will be able to choose certain paths in the story and not necessarily have to go on one or another. They kinda indicated that there would be more room for decision making as opposed to following a certain path that you must follow.
One of the interviews I read said something about how in BS1 after you gain your free will, you still end up just doing what ever someone else tells you instead of really having a choice, and that in BS2 they decided to give the player a sort of moral trust to make the decisions that He wants to not necessarily because he's told to do it.

Location: Trying to figure out a way to give Tim a hug.

Update!

There's a message from Phil Isidore, and a list of Mark's working theories about Rapture. Also the room's been cleaned up.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Here's the transcription for the message:

Mark! This is Phil Isodore, of NUFOS.

I-I'm calling you long-distance from California. And yes, absolutely, I will try to check out that beach location next weekend like you asked. But I'm in the desert now at the annual "Giant Boulder Saucer" convention. And the really exciting thing is Lex Harlan is here. You know, he was the editor of "Visionary Wonder" magazine with all those great "Utroplis" stories. Well, we should really talk about them, they have some fascinating parallels to your aquatic anomaly research. Anyway, I'm interviewing Lex for the newsletter. Call me back if there's anything I should ask him.

Well, that's it. Thanks Mark, bye

This basically confirms that there will be something happening at the beaches on 08/08!

There are two new letters one in between the jewelery box and typewriter and the other between the original map and the fan letters on the left.
Also all the puzzles except the jewelery box have been pushed to the right and the most of the books are next to the coatrack and the hat is on the chair also the left lamp is off now.
