The Bottles...
...another purpose perhaps?

Sorry if this is a duplicate post.

To address Kholdstare's inquiry about the notes of the jewelry box puzzle:

Forgive me if I'm way out in left field, but I'm still stuck on the possible musical aspect of things.

As a kid, I loved filling several bottles with water to different points to produce various notes when I blew into them...

To those people with bottles, are there any indications of different "fill lines," on them; thereby producing different notes?

I do not have a bottle, but if anyone checks it out (and feels like indulging the ravings of a confirmed madman) let me know what you find.

I doubt that the beach events were truly the end of this awesome ARG experience. We still have yet to resolve the jewelry box's interior puzzle. And O.O.L.'s references we hear upon opening the jewelry box have not really been addressed, IMO. I may be blind, but I have read nearly every post on this forum, I haven't really seen resolution to this yet.

Correct me if I'm wrong though...

jewelry box music puzzle?

Hey all, first post in this game, read all 65 pages plus the whole wikia for this and you guys might remember me from the stupid cube and satoshi I never found Smile

Do we all still think that the notes are a puzzle? I mean, until we get an update it might be up in the air, but I think that the colors plus random orientation of keys plus the fact that they are specific notes of a chromatic scale without a few notes is significant. Music is one of my skills so if it wasn't 5am I'd tackle it now and try to figure it out, but if someone has theory already I don't want to stare at a piano for hours Smile (not that I wouldn't anyway)

Otherwise, I'll hit up the music puzzle in the afternoon.

Also, has anyone that has a bottle made any progress with clues? Anything written or scratched into the posters? Are the posters brand new? Or do they seem 'used'?

Has anyone tried applying catalysts to the posters? Like heat, uv/black light? Any symbols?

Has anyone compared their bottle to someone else's to look for any differences? I assume that the bottles were mass produced and modified 'aftermarket' for rapture so they may have evidence of being modified in a way we would hope to notice. And it may vary from bottle to bottle. Not the info specifically, but the variations in marking. Like if someone bought a 100 shirts and tried to mimic the same stain in all of them, the stain might be in the same place, but it would be obvious that it was added afterwards because of a lack of standardization.

After rereading my post, it's time for sleep Smile I'm babbling

Oh, and do we have any reports from the non-us beaches? Seems like we only have a small sampling of results. Maybe different posters or 'garbage' from the other beaches? Like how people who sent out letters got different items.

all beaches reported the same event with same items, but i believe i read that Cali had the largest turnout.

at this point, it's all speculation as to what will happen next.

the 2K forums are my source of info for this.

you guys think they will update there's something in the sea again?

I think there's still something to SitS... There's still one blank labeled folder, leading me to believe there's going to be at least one more big update/cleanup before it's all said and done. It may be wishful thinking, but isn't that what ARGs are all about?

EDIT: Nice idea, H. Rearden! It may not end up going anywhere (who knows?) but I definitely hadn't heard anyone think about something like that.

Update

looks like mark has joined the beachcombers cause now he has the Arcadia Merlot bottle and posters that were in the bottles posted in his office, along with a newspaper article that actually mentions Andrew Ryan.

I saw the bottle, posters, and the news article but was that all that was added. I have looked it over and i can't find any sort of response from mark, I am really curious about what makes take is on these items. Especially the plasmid posters, they would make no sense to him at all. I don't know about the rest of you but I really want to know more right now! And do we have any more leads to go on or are we waiting for something new?

EDIT-I just saw something that interested me but i don't know if it is relevant. On the bottle the date is 1958. In 1958 Rapture was still in its decline, as well Fontaine faked his own death. So these bottles were from that time period of rapture, then apparently someone else is still down there trying to get others to come down. I cant decide if there where multiple locations of bottles to satisfy "us" as there audience so there were multiple opportunities or if whoever wants mark to come to rapture along with other people who found these bottles. Any one want to help me out with that?

So if everyone interested in a repro bottle could shoot me a PM I would greatly appreciate it. am going to start working on them this week but I need a head count so I can figure out pricing and how many bottles to order. I will say this, my bottles will be unique, not just repro's. Dont get me wrong, they will have the label and posters and what not, but that wont be all... Wink

Also, I'm surprised Mark hasn't posted anything about the bottles as well. Seriously, he just found propaganda from a city he didn't think existed and all he can think to do is hang up the posters... Shocked

Feenyks: When you said there's still on folder that is blank, I think you might have spoken too soon. When you click the bottom file cabinet drawer now all the folders are accounted for, with the last folder ending August 7th. I hope this isn't the end!

posters

It look likes Mark has all the posters except the Rapture propaganda one which explanes what Rapture is all about, but I guess they don't want Mark to figure out just yet.

actually that is incorrect. if you click on the blue rapture one on the floor after it opened up it reveals the other poster.

Gah! Yes, I did.

But I'll still keep up hope that it'll continue.

On a different note, does anyone know when BS2 is supposed to come out? I keep thinking it doesn't come out til Christmas or early 2010... but I might have accidentally invented those dates. I have an annoying-to-me tendency to turn my "I think this is what happened" thoughts into "This is what happened" memories :\
