[CHARLOTTE] Germany updates!

Rowan and PinkCloud have managed to get into chat from Berlin. They received a letter from P.Martin (time stamps are Hawaii time):
Rowan wrote:
[1:31am] <nawoR> letter reads: i have what you are looking for. you will find it at the Sun Bear Forest on Saturday 1:00pm. Keep your eyes open. You know what I mean when you have found it

And they have done some snooping (rosmar=Rowan):
Quote:

[1:47am] <rosmar> we're in the hotel lobby
[1:47am] <rosmar> we don tknow where to look though
[1:47am] <rosmar> we already ransacked someones room
[1:47am] <Mapmaker> hmmm
[1:47am] <rosmar> we got here, and PCs room didnt have a key
[1:47am] <rosmar> so we knocked, and Verbitzky finally answered it
[1:47am] <Mapmaker> who is Verbitzky again
[1:47am] <rosmar> and then we had a talk with him about how we were sent here by PMartin
[1:48am] <rosmar> collegue of Ivan
[1:48am] <Mapmaker> ok
[1:48am] <rosmar> MPU i guess
[1:48am] <rosmar> guy he was meeting at buca di bebbo
[1:48am] <Mapmaker> haha
[1:48am] <rosmar> he's a little bit put off that we were sent as well
[1:48am] <rosmar> so he went downstairs to sort things out, convenoiently leaving his room unlocked
[1:48am] <rosmar> so we went in and started grabbing stuff
[1:48am] <Mapmaker> convenient!
[1:48am] <TresSansCoffee> ha!
[1:49am] <rosmar> he had a cure cd
[1:49am] <rosmar> and a oldfashioned typewriter
[1:49am] <TresSansCoffee> hmmm
[1:49am] <TresSansCoffee> so he wrote the knowing jpeg
[1:49am] <rosmar> and we got the note from PMartin (or at least the same person that wrote the knowing note)

Edit to add: They're putting video up here.
Edit two: For handiness, they've introduced themselves: http://www.kyte.tv/ch/279625-thatchandsons/408732-live-mobile-show.

I'm replying to myself, but I want to note that this Kyte site is a really neat service. It allows you to see live videos and has a chat interface that they can see! It's here.

Our group was directed to a locker where they found part of Anna Glass's manuscript for The Blue Cat. It's written in German so they will report back on the content once they've read it.

When last seen on video, they were having lunch.

a brief recap

So obviously, I hope that eventually Rowan will be able to update her guide with an account of her and Pink Cloud's experiences today, but so far this is what I've been able to glean about what's happened in Berlin:

Upon arrival in Berlin, they were outfitted with a rental car and a german iPhone that allows them to upload live video to kyte (see previous posts). Apparently, they also had messages from Krotzler and/or the travel agent dude.

They had directions to the hotel, and somewhere along the way they managed to hook up with some of the German players.

At the hotel, they had trouble getting into the room that was assigned to PC, but this room turned out to be occupied by Verbitzky (Ivan Krotzler's MPU friend/contact). After a brief "who are you?" -- "No, who are you?" conversation, they exchanged phone info with Verbitzky, who left and has since disappeared. Apparently, Verbitzky expect to meet with Krotzler, so this was apparently originally Krotzler's room.

Seizing the opportunity they ransacked searched the room and found a number of things, only some of which I am aware of at this point (e.g., the typewriter and CD mentioned above, plus the receipts for the original mailing of the recordings(!), and a drawing of a blue cat).

Here is where things get fuzzy for me:
Somehow, they received a message that led them to a locker. Where this locker was, I don't know. Using a key (from where?) they opened the locker and found that it contained Anna's manuscript of The Blue Cat, along with a crude drawing of a (wait for it) a blue cat. (for those who have read Therapy, this is essentially the 'fairytale' story about the princess that we've heard about on the tapes.)

On the back of the drawing, I believe, there was a message that they decoded using page/line/word# in the manuscript. The message was in German. According to a post on the Alzner forum, the message is:
Quote:
Suche mich nicht ich werde dich finden Sonntagabend zwischen 20:32 Uhr Halte dich bereit

which translates roughly to:
Quote:
Don't look for me. I will find you Sunday evening around 20:32 o'clock. Stay ready!

Things I am still not sure about:
Where the message about the drop in San Diego came from.
What Krotzler is trying to get them to do.

Note: the kyte website contains intermittent videos of their adventures! plus lots of beer.

FYI, the locker was at Banhoff Zoo, a subway/train station in Berlin.

PinkCloud, Rowan, MissLady, Kajarinin, and several other players (I'm sorry that I don't know everyone's name) are driving towards Potsdam to meet Julia at the Zedlitzberg bus stop.

There's a live stream of their adventure at http://thatchandsons.com/travel.php or http://www.kyte.tv/ch/279625-thatchandsons/408732-live-mobile-show

Us at home, hope that the camera battery lasts through the evening.

eta: They have arrived at the bus stop at Sun 9:01 PM, Berlin time, and found a note with co-ordinates "N 52 26.891 E 13 05.971"
Link to google map
There was also a copy of Fitzek's new book, "Splinter ". (I misunderstood, they didn't get the book)

Okay, so there was something about a key on a clothesline that opened a cabin, where there was blood in the bathroom, then somehow that led to a rowboat, and there was another rowboat, and Krotzler and Verbitzky and Fitzek were all there, and they talked about a blonde wig and told everyone to go back to their car and drive to a bar in Berlin.

That's all I could glean from the wee snippets of audio we got. Oh and there was a forest ranger out taking pictures of wild hogs. Not wild dogs, but close!

So it's over, but we have no idea how. Wink

Rowan just popped into chat from the airport. Here's a transcript, which might explain some? Timestamps are Hawaii time, which is UTC-10.
Quote:
[12:20am] <Rowing> anyone awake_
[12:21am] <Rowing> stupid german keyboards
[12:21am] <Mapmaker> that is a bad way to get back to the US
[12:21am] <Rowing> i know. but i obviously need to practice my rowing skills
[12:22am] <Rowing> so how are you this morning, map
[12:23am] <Rowing> i totally cannot find the question mark key
[12:23am] <Mapmaker> I guess it's technically morning
[12:23am] <Rowing> oh, there it is ???
[12:23am] <Mapmaker> it's on the underside of the keyboard
[12:23am] <Mapmaker> so
[12:23am] <Mapmaker> what the f*** happened
[12:23am] <Rowing> i have no idea what the hell time it is
[12:23am] <Mapmaker> no one understands
[12:23am] <Rowing> hahah
[12:23am] <Mapmaker> least of all me
[12:23am] <Rowing> we drove out to the middle of f***ing nowhere
[12:23am] <Mapmaker> I hear there was Ivan dude
[12:23am] <Rowing> it was this road in the middle of the forest with these bus stops
[12:23am] <Mapmaker> and then there was a lake and a guy taking bear pictures?
[12:24am] *** mib_ckv8lh has joined: #therapy
[12:24am] <Mapmaker> and a scream
[12:24am] <Rowing> so we had to look for a specific bus stop
[12:24am] <Rowing> we passed it once, so then we had to go back
[12:24am] <Rowing> and there was this little cross on the side of the road with a candle
[12:24am] <Rowing> and in the flowers that were there was a note with the damn gps coordinates and a map on the back
[12:25am] <Rowing> for some reason, we really didnt think we would have to drive through the middle of the forest on a logging road
[12:25am] <Rowing> this girl came out of nowhere (she said her father was a forest ranger) and tried to point us in the right direction
[12:26am] <Rowing> but it didnt really take with us
[12:26am] <Rowing> but we first drove out through the forest
[12:26am] <Rowing> and then there was a fork in the road
[12:26am] <Rowing> you could go sharp left, middle left and straight
[12:26am] <Rowing> we took a sharp left - very bad idea
[12:26am] <Rowing> after thinking we were going to get stuck out there, we finally made it back to the bus stop road
[12:27am] <Rowing> so then we thought we had to go back into the city because you guys kept talking about an institute or something
[12:27am] <Rowing> so then daniel called and told us we shoudl go back to the bus stop
[12:28am] <Rowing> and take the stupid forest road again, but this time to stay on the 'main' forest road
[12:28am] <Rowing> i guess the main road was a little wider and less ruts
[12:28am] <Rowing> so we get to the fork, and instead of taking the main road, we decide to go straight to see what is up there
[12:29am] <Rowing> and so we split up, and just went up a little ways to this hunting blind of somesorts
[12:29am] <Mapmaker> haha
[12:29am] <Rowing> but the other girls kept looking for clues
[12:29am] <Mapmaker> you split up
[12:29am] <Rowing> even though i told them this cant be the place
[12:29am] <Rowing> so, this is when we got the idea to scream
[12:29am] <Rowing> and we screamed so loud, the PMs heard it
[12:29am] <Rowing> and got all scared
[12:30am] <Rowing> so then, we went back to the other car an contineud on the main road
[12:30am] <Rowing> so we come to this place where there is a log in the road forming an arrow -->
[12:30am] <Rowing> so we throw the log out of the way and got ready to drive down that way
[12:31am] <Rowing> which is when the guy with the camera came and said we couldnt drive down there
[12:31am] <Rowing> bastard
[12:31am] <Rowing> so we had to hike down to these little cottages
[12:31am] <Rowing> and tehre was one with a light in the window
[12:31am] <Rowing> but the door was locked
[12:31am] <Rowing> so we started lookign everywhere for the kez
[12:31am] <Rowing> finally found it on the clothesline
[12:31am] <Rowing> go inside, see josies room
[12:32am] <Rowing> go into the living room and see a camcorder that sazs play me
[12:32am] <Rowing> play that, see krotzler / larentz being all weird
[12:32am] <Rowing> tape ends, we go down to the lake
[12:32am] <Rowing> all of us get into teh boat
[12:33am] <Rowing> row out to the middle of the lake to another boat
[12:33am] <Rowing> see krotzler-larentz trzing to kill himself
[12:33am] <Rowing> tow him back to shore
[12:34am] <Rowing> verbitsky and fitzek? take him to the hospital
[12:34am] <Rowing> of course, they have a car down to where the cabin is
[12:34am] <Rowing> we have to walk back to our car
[12:34am] <Rowing> get the directions to go back to berlin to a NY bar
[12:34am] <Rowing> and thats when we met everyone
[12:34am] <Rowing> the end
[12:34am] <Rowing> i have 4 minutes left
[12:35am] <Mapmaker> wow
[12:35am] <Mapmaker> I'll post that I guess

Ugh, this is so frustrating, because we kept trying to tell you to take that forest road -- from the maps we were looking at, it led directly into the forest, turned several times and then ended at the lakeshore at the "Insititute for Inland Fishing," which is where the GPS coordinates seemed to point to. We got even more excited when we found that the Institute seemed to have several buildings that looked like cabins, plus a dock. We knew that's where you had to go.

The problem, obviously, was that communication was so spotty in either direction. When you guys were broadcasting (which was intermittent), we could still only hear about 10% of what you were saying and had no idea where you were currently located. However, I suspect that the interface of the kyte chat on your phone prevented you from seeing very much of what we were saying as well, so there were handicaps both ways.

No more events in the middle of communication-free zones, PMs!!! None!
