Sorry if this has been mentioned, and since I'm absolutely no good with math, I guess I'll be riding on everyone's coattails for this.

Anyway - hidden on the webpage today:

Not sure if it somehow relates to the current test or not..

Oh man. o_O Well we had two answers proposed--might want to check out the answers proposed by Rogi:

1 - 1 - 7 - 5 - 3 - 1 - 5 - 6 - 1

or

28 - 19 - 25 - 32 - 39 - 10 - 14 - 15 - 10

sorry, I should've said I'd tried Rogi's answer too. For completeness' sake, here's what that gives:-

Assuming that it's the Answer to Test 1 divided by the total of the values of Test 2, we get-

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
1+1+7+5+3+1+5+6+1=30

1756608592256 / 30 = 58553619741.866666666666666666667

If we assume that we're looking for the Answer to Test 1 divided by the product of Test 2, we get-

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
1*1*7*5*3*1*5*6*1=3150

1756608592256 / 3150 = 557653521.35111111111111111111111

I'd imagine we have to have answers in the format ?x?x?x?x?x?x?x?x?, but I can't see how that actually applies to the question.

The answer for Test 1 factors as follows:

1,756,608,592,256 = 2 • 2 • 2 • 2 • 2 • 2 • 2 • 7 • 7 • 103 • 2,719,141

If we were to be able to divide evenly, the answer to Test 2 would have to be a product of the above factors.

No joy in the numbers I came up with either by adding or multiplying.

I was going to do a list of (non-prime) factors for 1756608592256,
But the list is enormous.
i.e.:
Code:
(878304296128,2)(439152148064,4)(250944084608,7)

Has anybody e-mailed that address with our answers for #3 yet? I think it's time to revisit that particular problem, since #4 is technically unreleased... Means we likely didn't get #3 right. Razz

Ok, slight change to the Portal page. We've now got a comments box we can post to. The hidden links to the "What's Next?" puzzles have gone now.

Ok I'm in, although if they make us do a ton of math I may sit back and watch. Decrypting is my strong suit, math is my weak one.

I'm itching for a good game.

Well, 1,756,608,592,256 has 11 factors, and the answer to #4 must have 9 factors, so the sum/product of the numbers from #2 must be equal to the product of two of the numbers.

So essentially, pick two:
2 x 2 x 2 x 2 x 2 x 2 x 2 x 7 x 7 x 103 x 2,719,141

Possibly 49 (7x7), 721 (7x103), or 206 (2x103).

I'm looking through #3 now for the answers.

Ok, so the page has changed very slightly now that we're in May. Not much has changed but the countdown now says "It's time for" (with Arklight still underneath it) and there's a little firework animation in the background. I'm guessing this is part of the countdown widget thingie that was there in the first place, rather than someone actually editing the page. Either way, I guess this one should start rolling soon. Smile

Yah Merago that widget thing isn't anything at all new, if it's still how you describe it.
It was like that yesterday too.

No real changes to the site. I checked a couple of weeks back and got the fireworks and message by resetting the date on my computer.
