Let's argue about music!
It's fun. And your favourite band probably sucks.

Shifting arguement from the Marlena thread.

I wanna see that My Chemical Romance kid vs. the Hardcore kid keep going. I love that shit. haha.

Oh, haha. Never woulda guessed that.

Well then, Alice in Chains FTW!
I know I'm preaching to an empty house. No one wants to listen to stuff from 15 years ago. haha.

I listen to stuff earlier than 15 years ago...

Dream Theater, Metallica, Rush, Symphony X, Led Zepellin, Pink Floyd, Avenged Sevenfold, Disturbed, Stryper, Kansas, Boston, Bad Company, Joe Satriani, etc...

Basicly anything Classic Rock, Progressive, or Metal (except for stuff that is NOTHING but screaming / growling... wheres the talent in that?). Also... they need to be TALENTED, im particularly picky about singers.

Gotta disagree with ya. There's shit that's pure scream/growl that I love. Like Arch Enemy or old In Flames. But I'm into most of those guys you mentioned. Been dipping my toe in the pool with Dream Theatre, can't get fully into em but there's a lot of great stuff.

its Dream TheatER... Wink

Yeah, it can be pretty hard to take in such incredible music at first, I understand. Razz You listened to all 42 minutes (8 tracks) of Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence yet? Amazing song.

As far as screaming / growling goes... Disturbed or Symphony X is about my limit.

ok buddy.
why dont you grab a mic.
do inhaling growl and pig squeel vocals for 3-5 minutes a song.
and see if your throat doesnt give out or you choke or its sore.
its a huge talent.

As far as vocal talent goes, no one can touch Mike Patton, and he has full albums of screaming, other albums are nothing but crooning, etc.

Just trying to conclude that pure screaming can be very well done.

And ya, Six Degrees is so far my favourite by them. I like the balance of styles on that one. Some of the others send me in to prog-overload. haha.

My bad on the name. No matter what word I always wanna put the R before the E for some reason. haha.

Cookie monster vocals aint that hard. Flat out screaming I will admit isnt easy, but it does nothing to show off your vocal range. Compare those kinds of singers to like... Brad Delp (RIP man... Crying or Very sad ), THAT man had a range. Also, I can never understand those lyrics, lol.

Jar, I also reccomend from DT.... Minestry of Lost Souls, Pull me Under, All of the album Scenes from a Memory, Sacrificed Sons, and A Change of Seasons. Some of my other favorites from them.

Took a look, the only one you mentioned I have is Scenes From A Memory. Other than that i have... Liquid Tension experiment 1 & 2, Train of Thought, Systematic Chaos. All seem quite good but like I said, prog-overload.
I'd say I'm more into traditional metal, grunge etc. So I try that stuff for a bit, then I usually come back for a while. And in case the conversation leans this way, ya I love Rush. haha. Well the older shit and the brand new shit. Really impressed with their newest, dunno what kinda response that got but I think it kicks the ass off anything they did in the 90's.

And about the cookie monster vocals, all I've gotta say is Opeth.

Edit: I'm retarded, you were naming songs, not albums. haha.
