George Washington Postal Stamper

I found this in a garage sale today and have been searching all over the internet for any information I can find out about it. I have had no luck so decided to ask for your detective skills to help me uncover anything about this stamper. It is made of some sort of metal and it is on what looks to be a marble vase.

Here is an image of it

It's dimensions are about an inch and a half by about two inches. (the engraving)

Any information would be appreciated.

Thanks.

I think it's a paperweight.......and it's really, really, weird, but I'm having such a strong feeling of déjà vu about arguing about paperweights on uF?

I'm pretty sure it's a paperweight made in 1932 for the bicentennial of his birth. Likely an item available at the post office to go along with the commemorative stamps of the same year. Doesn't look like a service award for postal employees.

I've got a few lightly canceled stamps to go along with it that I could send you if you want. Just PM me an address.

Couldn't find any info about the paperweight, online. As for it's value, given that it was a time when people weren't buying a lot of knickknacks, it might have a certain rarity. I'd be surprised if it were more than a dollar or two, new, though.

I agree it's some sort of commemorative paperweight. It couldn't be used for stamping, because the image would be reversed.
