i was looking at the about page, and on the picture of the Babel Facility being built, what is that thing on the right tower? Looks like Darth Vaders head.

Also, regarding the image at the bottom of Babel Research:

2nd icon is from Portal, but what does the first icon reference?

Thanks.

The first icon is the logo for Black Mesa (half life series) but at the current moment in time we are excluding half life references (as well as portal and hanso) as easter eggs.

Guys I think this is getting a little out of hand... would anyone be interested in posting a "what we know at this point" post that catches everyone up and talks about the current things we're looking into?

There is far too much useless stuff being tossed around, and we all need to seriously refocus ourselves and start making some progress on this mystery of mysteries. I'd make the post but I'm on my netbook watching baseball right now...

If our active players (you all know who you are, and you're all awessome) could post what they're working on and where they are with all this, we can start cleaning things up and focusing on FINALLY getting some new clues and answers instead of just going over the same things over and over again.

Also, I got a hold of Varin, who is our fearless moderator here, and we might be getting a new thread soon so we can recap things and start fresh. We'll see what happens here.

i made the suggestion before, all we can do is hope one of the admins deletes 90% of the posts here and mods the first post, or we sit here and suffer. talk to the admins about it. no one else can really do anything.

EDIT: oh, wait... you got HOLD of an admin... Very Happy GOOD JOB! YOU'LL SAVE THIS! THANK YOU!

fyi, I am also a moderator here. If you wish to start a new thread and maintain it with current information, go ahead. it's a case by case decision, but generally a game gets moved to another forum when it gets to the point of multiple threads.
Regarding deleting - we don't delete posts except in very very extreme circumstances (such as spam).
Also, there have been far worse noisier threads in the past Smile this isn't so bad just yet... just keep in mind that there will always be newcomers who do everything that people find annoying =P but only because they don't know yet. so, patience Smile

Ideally, I'd recommend at this point that the creator of this thread keep the first post up to date, because this is very linear at the moment, and nothing really has happened since babel research went online...
so that's just my thoughts so far..

[22:23] manualdeathsum had an idea while he was trying to sleep
[22:28] manualdeathsum checks the thread, finds nothing about his idea
[22:35] manualdeathsum: Alright, here's what I was thinking
[22:36] manualdeathsum: Just in case anyone might be listening
[22:36] manualdeathsum: On the babel-research.eu, the link for the Involuntary Stomach Discharger is spelled wrong (Involentary)
[22:36] manualdeathsum: Timsmit is not stupid. In the ISD article, he spells Involuntary correctly
[22:37] manualdeathsum: UE_join isn't UEC because it doesn't even pertain to the UEC--maybe he's talking about the transposition of the U and the E
[22:37] manualdeathsum: there is a graphic in the ISD article with a tiny dot in it
[22:38] manualdeathsum: this dot perfectly matches the dot near the groin of the soldier on the right side of UE_join.jpg
[22:38] manualdeathsum: what I'm trying to figure out is WHY

Any of you wanna take a stab at it?

Thanks for chiming in, thebruce. Varin pretty much said the same thing... the problem is that the thread creator, SquidDNA, seems to have disappeared. If he/she would come back, we wouldn't have a problem at all. Just want to make sure everyone is all caught up when they hit the thread. This is my first "game" like this and it's been a lot of fun so far, but I'm realizing how important it is we all work together and pool our resources... dealing with spammers is one thing, but people that come in asking questions about stuff that happened in March or stating clues and finds that have already been discussed is another and it just seems to upset the threads flow.

I found this interesting. I used the number code associated with the colored dots on top of the Babel Research page (the dots used to unlock the safety procedure document) and applied it to the colored dots in the Babel Group logo on the main page. The corresponding numbers turn out to be 451. As these dots are likely the be the same dots on the UE_join but in greyscale, I wonder if the number 451 has any significance to Babel Research or to UEC. Any ideas?

451
relevance

The only thing i could find about 451 is 451 could not complete sender verify callout, wich is i think a bit too long for a anagram, but i will check street nr and area numbers in my country(netherlands) for 451

You know, I bet at the top of the Babel Research's tower (the Tower of Babel) is an isolated Higgs boson, the God particle, contained by the Higgs, Brout, and Englert towers. The ancients devised the Tower of Babel at the command of king Nimrod to reach Heaven and God Himself. Can't be a coincidence.

Whatever's in the Box may have unstablized the boson and turned it "inside out". From here, we venture into the realm of hypothesis.

The Higgs boson is supposed to be the element that gives things mass. Well, a particle with mass but no matter would be like a party balloon. Heft, but no substance. ...Well, what happens when you pop a balloon? It collapses.

What's in the vortex at the top of the tower? A singularity. Because the Higgs boson magnetic containment field failed, I bet you whatever's in the Box collapsed the mass-giving Higgs boson and turned it into a mass-eating singularity. Or perhaps the boson had already collapsed when our protagonist awoke, and the Box merely did something else. Maybe he was trying to use the Box to repair the field or restore stability to the boson. (Is there such a thing as the "opposite" of a black hole?) Maybe it contains dark matter, possibly baryonic.

A little bathroom reading:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daemons_in_astrophysics
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Planck_particle
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Micro_black_hole

All conjecture at this point, but something to consider, and something that may bring us one step closer to the contents of the Box.

You figured that out alll by yourself?? Youre prob right Because the magnetic stream is shown out well
