Even if this isnt actually THE TIMSMIT, its a good direction to look at.. I've tried looking at the source for the actual site (http://www.babel-research.eu/witb/UE/) nothing special there... I've tried photoshopping the image, contrast, flip whatever, nothing special again. I've also tried using keywords from the image in the two entry fields ( both on the WITB website and the Babel research site) still nothing..... we're missing something surely. The UE site has to have more to do than the mp3.... or maybe thats it? thats the important mp3 in the series?

 		Just to lay this to rest: the arrows on exposed.jpg and anti.jpg, when lined up with the 'Research and Technology' page on the babel site, point to a tiny clickable area that leads to a sound file saying 'operation 2347'. I believe that the long red line on anti is just to make finding the intersection easier; it's roughly where the cursor is in the image.

Also note how neatly the B from anti.jpg lines up with the circle from exposed.jpg (remember this is all aligned with the babel site, so this probably isn't coincidence). Also also note that in anti.jpg, the section headings for the menu on the right are different, suggesting an older version, however the 'Notification' box is already there.

I'm aware that a lot of this has been noticed before, but I haven't yet seen someone publish an image demonstrating it.
(also, since it happened to get caught in the screenshot: shameless plug of Afloat, handy free mac widget that let me make the windows transparent, among other things. I have no connection, but the author deserves recognition Smile )

You forgot some:

- The line with "tm" on anti.jpg (center vertical line)- it looks too scratchy to be just a line - http://forums.unfiction.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=27633&start=589
- The "62 long" form audio. May be there is one more audio with lattitude?
- The "14-juno" and "Tango Yankee November" from the same audio. Do you have any friend marines to describe?
- The FTP. Guys, i'm kind of system administrator here in Russia. NO FTP on standart port on PRODUCTION (i.e. non-beta-testing) site EVER. And even more - There is no FTP server with standart error "530 Please tell me who you are"! Usually 530 returns "Access denied", no more no less. So, i think that IS a clue.


That FTP bit further re-enforces my thought that they WANT us to access their root directory through FTP which I am working on. If they didn't, they'd hide it like the did on whatsinthebox.nl

 		I'm not sure, if it's important in any way, but why "UE site" isn't "UEC site"? The shortcut isn't UE, but UEC. Just "United European" is senseless...

 		the 530 reply IS the standard reply of Pure FTPd server... go check it out.
also Whatsinthebox.nl is actually a subdir on babel-research.eu/witb
so if that domain directs there, it doesn't need its own ftp server.

Stop hammering that ftp guys.

 		^ That missing C is what made me think there might be some other letters laying about and could explain why a couple of the audio files are named as they are. I thought "mc2.mp3" could be related E=MC^2, making its letter E, and "X.mp3" is related to... well, 'X', but it's a long shot, by miles.

The only thing new I have to offer is that on the UE_join.jpg, volunteer is spelled incorrectly on the bottom. Other than that, I'm stumped, gonna take a break. Good luck, all.

On the UE site, it states "join now and find out whats in the box"

How would they know whats in the box?
Why would they tote that around as an advertisement to join their corps,
How well known should "the box" be in this ARG's lore.

There's no mention of the box on the Babel Industries website, in fact the only details we have of the actual device come from the old WITB website, and the video.

I think we've digressed onto clues and trails and gone away from the key question here.

I don't think your logic is necessarily correct, here. Considering in the video the box was sitting in a tunneling microscope, that would suggest that perhaps whoever was examining it, wanted to find out for themselves "what is in the box." And the fact that our "hero" takes the box out of the lab when things go bad, suggests that he knew someone would be coming after it, for one reason or another... he attempt to destroy the anomaly in the beginning also suggests the hero has knowledge of the box, what is in it, and it's powers... especially considering throughout the film he attempts to contact various people who are in the sciences, all to no avail...

On the contrary, do we really KNOW he is a hero? What if that initial beam he sends into the anomaly is what actually TRIGGERS the singularity? That's a big of an anachronism, given that the news scrolls the disaster has already happened, but perhaps he is stealing the box from Babel in an attempt to do bad things, and the UEC is after him, since they know the true power of the device...

i'm thinking it's more of a relationship seen in the half life series; gordon is important and two sides wish to obtain him. the box will be some sort of loot after some significant world event, as the news coverage seems to have been going on for some time; not an immediately new thing. babel could've just been holding on to it for some time, or the character could've gone to babel to try to do some research on it. we notice that there are no bodies in the vehicles, thus telling us that the area was abandoned; or maybe evacuated some time earlier that day, the only few people there being those that want the box, and the carrier.
something like that, i think, at least, anyways Laughing

Which is the image used here: http://babel-research.eu/?about=research_bsp

But knowing that mayang.com is a royalty-free stock site, it probably doesn't mean much other than that the PM was using free resources to the best of his advantage.
