hmm, i was thinking about this while at work today. And remembered the myth of pandoras box, and then how pandora in the red ring produced Copay Pales, which is an anagram of apocalypse. From wiki: "apocalypse is a term applied to the disclosure to certain privileged persons of something hidden from the majority of humankind."

If the myth is related to this more, keep in mind that though the box unleashed all kinds of evil in the world, hope was at the botom of the box as well.

A few pages ago there was a small debate on who was the good guys and bad guys of this. I would definitely file Babel under bad guys. in the exposed picture (exposed for what they really are?) the biohazard symbol over the towers as well as the change from The Eye of Providence (or the eye of God) to the ancient Egyptian Eye of Horus. Which while the EoH isn't a bad symbol, it shows that Babel has forsaken God for an old Pagan religion.

just my 2 cents on the myth side of things.

They even removed the "@" from the email link, replacing it with an image. Clearly they're being bothered, so please just let them alone. Just let it go, move on... it's not related AT ALL. END OF STORY.

I'm going to say that they're still related somehow. They DID post the original anti picture, so they do still have something to take part with. They have a domain of "CATBOX.etcetc..."
If they truly aren't a part of it, why do they keep doing this? I'm thinking that the .com will look like a n00b company site some time soon, but it will become the Babel we know some time in the future. If not, this is just one messed up company to look this underground.
There also is the possibility that the author will want to drag this out over the next nine-ish years. if this is true, then i will love Tim forever.

EDIT: to guy i quoted, the removal of the at symbol is to prevent spam flood.

Ya, because their site is suddenly ranked highly on Google from additional traffic and searches for babel-research. The ".com" site was registered in 2002 and traces back to 1999... I'll say it again... NOT RELATED. Focus your efforts elsewhere, please.

Yeah. I'm ready to say "pass" on the .com, but why the catbox domain? Box I could understand, but Cat? That's a clue so deep into the ARG as to be generally irrelevant when it comes to IRL issues. The coincidence is just too uncanny to overlook.

I'm going to ignore the .com for now, but seriously--if they don't want to be involved in the ARG's enthusiasm, why the catbox?

That's like playing the Lost ARG and stumbling across a site called apollo.hansoincorporated.edu that claims to have nothing to do with it. Really?

But anyway, taking your advice: moving on....

i'm keeping an eye on the site. if they post anything else that's overly suspicious (catbox could've been a brute attempt, they could be wiping/reformatting site right now), i'll be willing to bring them up again. i'm aware that they're registered in several places, but they still strike me as oddly suspicious. i don't care all too much that the site's been around for a while; maybe the company died a while back, and their site's been reclaimed by someone else; who knows. all i'm saying right now is that if there's something hideously off in the next few weeks, something that CLEARLY indicated some relationship to the ARG, i'll honestly be willing to bring them up in argument. the moment i see it.

Because they've probably been using that subdomain for years and there's no reason to change it because of some ARG? Rolling Eyes

What I'm saying is, if they've been registered for years, why use catbox? I doubt they manufacture kitty litter. I'm not saying they should change it because of the ARG--if there even really IS one--but why do it in the first place? It's an eerie co-inky-dink, is all I'm saying.

What is with the barcodes numbers. Isn't there a possibility that these could be some package id numbers for tracking in some delivery tracking system down there in the netherlands?
I mean a box could be some delivery package anyways...

I'm officially stumped, then. I agree, I think the FTP is offlimits--that's pretty much like peeking behind the curtain, on FTP you could see anything. The .com is out, and while the picture of the Svalbard seedvault from "jet truant chaos" yielded a marginal clue, it seems initially useless. Sure, you can see "Higgs" in the EXIF data, but what good does that do? We've already seen that connection. In desperation, I thought about cutting the .jpg off of the Svalbard pic file on my comp and looking at the .cgi with a Perl editor, but it feels like a dead end and I don't feel like installing a Perl editor just to find out I'm sticking my nose into something some random guest used to throw a wrench into our process. I find it hard to trust just anyone walking in here and throwing clues at us, because of the ease with which just anybody can post at unforums.

I can't get Schrodinger and his cat out of my head, though.

Apolgies

Sorry guys, I just wanted for there to be something else to look into... looks like babel-research.com is gone now? or its offline... one way or another that site's kaput.

obviously not a clue.

Does anybody else get the distinct feeling this is dead?

Your thinking makes sense. Considering "THE BOX = HELL" and features a red circle and entering "pandora" at the witb site yields "Copay Pales", I think we have to look a bit further into mythology and not just the scientific clues.
Anyone familiar with details in the Pandora myth?
