i feel weird seeing my name on your list -- i couldn't remember ever contributing to the game, other than recruiting Obtusitivity for one dead drop and relaying his phone message. Did i work on any puzzles at all? I honestly was not following the story at all, but i'm glad you all had fun. I'm also suspicious of the html code that wraps our names, such that each is a linkable spot on the page. (It's not a hotlink that you can click on, but an anchor tag that one could use in a url to scroll the page to a specific name.) I cannot imagine how that will ever be put to use, or why a few names do not have such a tag.

Oh rats.

I felt special cause my name was up there and I went to view the HTML and my name isn't tagged. T_T

Paperbound, me and a couple others aren't tagged. T_T

Also, what up with the filenames? I know they're for the pictures later on down the page but I can't help noticing:

I like how the first two images have longer names. Bricker.....something you wanna tell us?

Holy Cow

Munki: I'll introduce myself a bit more soon.

Schwinn: I really appreciate your words. I'll answer your questions soon also.

catherwood: You were included because you did participate and I appreciated that.

Ryutso: She's a model that I know and tried not to kill.

ALL: I simply cut and pasted the names from the forum...any unusual tags that resulted were unintentional. I'm sorry. Very Happy

Any chance of an I'm Sorry 2 in the future?

Wow. If there was...it'd have to be a prequel. That'd be kind of wierd!

Noooooooooo no prequels. Pull a Lucas on us and I will be so sad. ); This is one of those stories that is so good and so right where it is right now.
But I do hope to see more of your work in ARGs (because, like I said, it's gonna be hard to play anything else because my standards are so damn high now, thanks :B).

And sorry man! I am going to have to bombard you with more questions on top of Schwinn's List of Things, because I MUST KNOW
I know you said back in Portland that Port's life was based on a lot of yours; how much of it really was? The manuscript pieces, especially, had some very specific and genuine experiences that at least seemed like someone told them to you; if not, it was something you experienced personally.

It was kinda why I liked Port so much, more or less because I really related to those stories of his. Way too well, even. Believe it or not, I have a horrible dandelion art story of my own that I don't think I ever got around to sharing... I think I was waiting on that chat Port owed me for it, haha.

Wulf, Classical, Munki, the three of you were the best, not to take away from anyone else who played or was in chat with us those long nights. I single the out because I had some outside contact with them during the game, via texts and Pms. We learned a lot about each other in those chats and I hope we all can do it again, errr wait that sounds dirty.

♥ ♥
Good times, good times. I think that was another thing that really kept me in this game before I got into the characters... it's been a while since I've found such a wonderful internet community like this game brought together. And I really do miss those long, entertaining, mostly off-topic chats with you three and Burrito and Syn and... "Becky". ;D And everyone else! So here's to hope that there will be another opportunity to uh, do it again. If not, we'll have an "I'm Sorry" reunion in like ten years so we can all stand around a punch bowl and be awkward with each other for an hour.
And while I'm at it: Wulf! I don't remember if I mentioned this before, but thanks for humoring me in Portland and making what would have been a rather shitty weekend an incredibly entertaining one.

Seriously folks, I love all of you guys. If any of you are ever in my area, shout and we will get drinks or something.

Wow. Well I think all of the questions I was going to ask have been stated. I agree with Classical, the bar has definitely been raised for ARGs and it's going to be tough to find one that keeps my interest now. Hell, I left another ARG I'd been playing for about 2months to devote all my time to this one.. lol.

I've never been good at the sentimental stuff, but working with you guys and even the sometimes bizarre iRC chats we had were a lot of fun. We'll have to try and collaborate on some other ARG's - if we can find anything worthy..

I thought a couple of times about mentioning Holly was hot, but it seemed inappropriate somehow - even for the humorous part of it. But wow hubba hubba.

Brian, it was great to meet you in Portland - and it was fun playing the roles we did. From first seeing the tattoo on your arm and having a slight heartattack as I grabbed Court to show her, to the lunch we had. It was strange, talking out loud about Rage, and Port, and the rest to other people. It's one thing to discuss it in the forums, but try talking to someone face to face about it, yeah. But you played your role well. I'm sorry that we didn't step up to some of the puzzles - but as this wasn't a conventional ARG, sometimes we didn't even know there was a puzzle.

One last thing. The first clue bat you sent us - the story involving the RV, the references to Easy Rider and so forth. That was some of the funniest, most creative work I've ever seen. You've definitely got a a knack for this, and I, like the rest, hope to see more from you in the future.

I loved Watership Down what made you choose it?

Watership Down was the first "real" book I read as a kid. It had an impact on me in that my desire to write really came from that book. So as I was putting the Watchers together, I discovered that one of them was a Richard Adams fan and another loved Donnie Darko - and the bunny theme emerged. Frank the bunny and Watership Down references (including the Konig Darzin code) were always linked to those working to stop the One.

Theresa Duncan,/ Kade and the outside influences. How did effect the game, cause it screwed with us.?

Ah yes...it seemed that there was some expectation that I'm Sorry was the first indication that The Largest Most Complex ARG in the History of the World had been lanuched. This was news to me and I was actually pretty surprised to see just how many links DreamsEnd was able to draw between I'm Sorry and the whole Theresa Duncan, Ong's Hat, Matheny mess. It affected the game because I wasn't prepared to counter it initially and I think it turned a lot of people off and created a paranoia that really affected the game during the start-up. Two of the five computers that I used were hacked during that time - creating quite a bit of trouble and costing some money for IT support. At that point I thought about throwing in the towel but then decided to just get defiant and motor through it.

What did we miss? I mean there were times that we were just stumped and going off in all directions. I'm sure you had to spoon feed us.

I hesitate to answer this question because I don't want anyone to think that you weren't fully successful in completing I'm Sorry - because you were! The problem was that this game had a time limit. Since I couldn't really coordinate the end of the world effectively, I knew that you guys had to succeed prior to 09/09/09. And going into the game I had no idea how many people would end up playing so I ended up with more content and story lines than I needed. On the simple end, I can tell you that there were clues hidden around the web (i.e., had you checked the comments made to the Yahoo! Answers comment about the meaning of Locomotive Breath you would have discovered that Bernie was still alive.) On the complex end, you would have learned much more about the Watchers had you actually gone to the 45th Infantry Museum in Oklahoma City or went to Charlie's in Illinois for the bisquits and gravy! But I promised myself in the beginning that I wouldn't direct your choices except in areas where I absolutely had to.

Can you give us some more details on how we would have learned more? Live meet? Drops? Hidden clues in the gravy? [homer] mmmm gravy [/homer]

By the way I loved all the music "clues" involved in this game. You pulled out some of my favs!

It was just me. I reached out to a lot of resources around the country to coordinate some things for me...but for better or worse, all of the writing, interaction, chats, e-mails, drop-design, graphics, websites and texts were all me.

Had that been pursued more, there was a tangent about the company that Rage hired to help him run The Game in SF, Buffalo and Omaha. It was basically a group of techie/arg dudes who got in wayyyy over their heads. Was fun.

When the thread was pulled by "Ron" how much did you run by the Admins/mod of this site?

None. Which didn't go over too well in that particular circle. Since Bricker would have demanded that his copyrighted material be removed from this kooky site...Bricker did that. You guys forced my hand! And it created a bit of anger in the upstairs offices of unficiton with that move. I have to thank SpaceBass and Addlepated for understanding the situation and ultimately giving you the thread back.

Damn, it sounds like we really missed quite a bit. I don't suppose there's any chance of actually getting a chance to see all of it?

The one thing I do find cool - is even though parts of the story weren't pursued or revealed, each time you mention them it ends with something like "way fun". Even though you never revealed it to anyone, you got a kick out of it. Now that's.... i dunno what that is... perfect achievement? being happy with oneself enough to be able to appreciate what you've done - without the need for acceptance of others?

More Answers

For Munki...I don't think that I personally am really important in any of this...but...my name is Brian Bricker, I write emergency medical textbooks (mostly instructor resources), I manage a bunch of people at an emergency medical helicopter service, I've been happily married for 17 years, I have three kids, I used to work in radio broadcasting, I was a security supervisor for George Lucas, I grew up in the San Francisco bay area, and once owned a home in Norman, Oklahoma. But I think you already somehow knew all of that. Wink

Classical. Like I hinted in Portland, King was me. I lived through the 'dandelion film' moment and quickly escaped into law enforcement...and most of Port's thoughts and feelings were mine. Only difference is that I ended up working for a sheriff's department and then Lucas rather than becoming a detective in New Jersey!

As for the puzzles and stories that never really got opened, I'm going to save those for the future. (Not for I'm Sorry 2, so don't worry Classical!) But I will disclose that there used to be a clue on the display of Hitler's mirror at the 45th Infantry museum...and I had people prepared to provide clues at the restaurant in Bolingbrook, IL. Oh...and I really went to Phoenix and was expecting Classical or Wulf to call my real cellphone (they both have it from Portland) and I would have coordinated a meet/drop there.

But...if you're still really jonesing for a bit of I'm Sorry fun, you can still try to solve One For The Brood..., although the blog is gone, you still have enough of it here in the forums to proceed.

Finally, Munki, I'm not going anywhere. I'm pretty sure that you'll see my writing/characters in other games.

ALL: I really appreciate all of your kind words about I'm Sorry, they are helping now that I, too, am withdrawing due to the sudden absence of the world that we have all lived in for the past five months.

(Edit for grammar)

Thinking about it, I think we missed a lot of the clues because we didn't know how far we were supposed to go. Most games (in my opinion) usually spell out "GO HERE" or "GO THERE" or "YOU'RE ACTUALLY SUPPOSED TO DO THIS IN REAL LIFE". Not exactly like that, of course but.. They usually don't leave much room for interpretation. For instance, when people played Cassieiswatching and there was a drop made, everyone knew they had to go get it because.. well.. the PM made a video of themselves putting the drop in the pond. Or in Jejune.. people knew they were supposed to go to a specific building because.. that's pretty much all the clues they were given. "Here's an address, if you want to know more.. come by during these hours.

I think a lot of times we were worried about what was REALLY REAL and what wasn't. Like, whether we should contact you.. or whether that would mess up the game... or if we would end up finding out something we weren't supposed to.. or perhaps end up annoying some person who had no idea what was going on.

I guess since we didn't follow all the way through on some of the hints you dropped, we kind of missed out on a little bit. I know some of us definitely felt like something was missing on some parts you mentioned us not figuring out. We basically ended up doing a lot of research on whatever you mentioned but completely missed finding the actual clues you left. Hahaha.

Not that I blame you, or us for that. I'm Sorry pushed a lot of boundaries for a lot of people. Frankly, I prefer your method.. even though we missed a bit... I feel like we would have lost the immersion if you pointed anything out to us.
