Soobs, one of the commentors on the Live Crime Report, is googled as this:

http://coalitionofcrimebloggers.ning.com/profile/Soobs1

Either a very intricately done ARG profile or this is all real. I really don't know.

The True Crime Report, and now Soobs blog, look way too ARGish to be real blogs. If this is as big as it looks, it's weird there hasn't been more interest generated.

*EDIT* I'm clicking through links from Soobs' page. Just came to her only friend, Nancy Reilly. There's a link to www.policepulse.com. It's also in the same format. This looks strangely like the blogs from Perplex City. I think there's something here... but on the other hand it's soooooooo detailed an incredible amount of planning would have had to go into it with a large team. So hard to tell.

I saw the e-mails and they were definitely odd...and nothing that I
know about. The only thing I can think is that the link to my blog
was misspelled. It makes no sense to me.

As for the article link that I sent, I personally think that he was
set up. It stuck in my mind because to write that on a suicide note
would make no sense. That's like writing "I'm at 1407 Oakhurst
Avenue, come help me!"
and then getting in your car and driving away,
you know? I would only write that on a note if I was under duress and
wanted to let someone without alerting the person who has me in that
position.

I was just giving your colleague an example of how the symbols and
codes of Masonry tie so many things together in odd ways. That's all.
I didn't know he would share the link.

Why do you think the man in LA who killed his kids wrote that Masonic

The address is a clue, and a big one. That's my thinking, at least.

Additionally, there's a second blog post for today that just went up. Pretty interesting read.

*edit* There are 6 1407 Oakhurst Avenue's that come up in google maps:

1407 Oakhurst Ave, Norman, Cleveland, OK 73071
1407 Oakhurst Ave, Jacksonville, Duval, FL 32208
1407 Oakhurst Ave, Los Altos, Santa Clara, CA 94024
1407 Oakhurst Ave, Parkersburg, Wood, WV 26101
1407 Oakhurst Ave, San Carlos, San Mateo, CA 94070
1407 Oakhurst Pl, Independence, Montgomery, KS 67301

None are in Jersey, San Fran, or Chicago. There is, however, an Oakhurst, New Jersey.

I received a reply back from Port, about the emails we originally received - but it was blank..? I'm thinking it was simply a mistake.

I posted a comment to his blog, asking specifically about the last line "Jenny should have been my salvation." I doubt it will be posted on the website, just because none of them have been posted, but perhaps he'll respond to it in the next post.

What do you mean? I don't think he meant an actual misspelling, like port vs porte - but simply but down the wrong URL.

However, I doubt it as well...

I mean, the web address provided in the email in this thread, which I assume was the one also sent to Port, works. So which address is he looking at that's 'misspelled'?

Wow - things are getting stranger and stranger. I just got an email from Port:
Quote:
What? Apparently not. What the hell is this about?

Can you understand König Darzin Code? <<with the beanflower's boon and the blackbird's tune and May and June>><<now sir young Fortinbras of unimproved metal hot and full hath in the skirts of Norway here and there sharked up a list of lawless resolutes for food and diet to some enterprise that hath a stomach in't><Don Alfonso: "Eccovi il medico, signore belle" Ferrando and Guglielmo: "Despina en maschera, che triste pelle!">>!

I searched the phrases, and they all seem to come from a book called Watership Down, by Richard Adams. The book in and of itself seems pretty strange, just from the description of it. You can read about it here
. Has anyone actually read this?

I replied back to him with much the same thing.

Just so I've got this straight:

He sent you an email which quoted what he claimed was an email from you?

And I've read Watership Down, some years ago. I don't see how the second two could come from it... I'll see if I can find my copy.

Correct. The email he sent to me, appeared to have been originally sent BY me. Although I obviously didn't do it. But it looked to have been sent from my email address.

Right. Got my copy.

So the bracketed phrases are from the epigrams.

Beanflower passage is Book 1, ch 9: The Crow and the Beanfield. Also from Robert Browning's De Gustibus, end of the first portion. http://www.sanjeev.net/poetry/browning-robert/de-gustibus-106962.html

Fortinbras passage is Book 1, ch 4: The Departure. Also from Shakespeare's Hamlet. Horatio says it nearish the end of scene I. http://shakespeare.mit.edu/hamlet/full.html

Don Alfonso passage is Book 1, ch 15: The Story of the King's Lettuce. Also from da Ponte's Cosi fan Tutte (which was written by Mozart). The lines are from the beginning of Scene 16, which happens to be the last scene of Act 1.

Okay, so we have passages from the end of the opening movement of their body of work, perhaps? I'll do some digging on Konig Darzin. I don't immediately see any relevance to 9, 4, and 15, but they might come up later.

Edit--Darzin is also from Watership Down. An evil king that the trickster rabbit of myth defeats in the chapter which the Browning epigram opens.

Edit^2--So Konig means King. King Darzin code. Or King King code, since Darzin is a king. Port King? Does PK have any German heritage? And how'd he get the name Port, anyway? Port wine? Port v. Starboard? Port in a storm? No ideas here, just free associating. Maybe one of my pinballs will hit something.

Edit^3--Just sent him an e-mail asking him about his name. Hoping it might drop a clue that helps us break the code.

I just got another reply from Port. From the tone of the email, it almost makes me question whether he's OOG game. Almost.

Quote:
isten. I'm tired. I had a crappy night and whatever is going on is
bringing me attention that I don't/didn't want. I came in this
morning and found that somebody has been leaving messages for me at
work asking about the same stuff as you guys who have been e-mailing
me.

I'm nothing special. I'm a guy who had a chance to do great things
but who fell down when the time came, you know?

I've never even heard of Watership Down but I wish you guys luck in
whatever you're doing, but I'm just afraid that I can't be of much
help.

And can you please tell all of your friends who have been e-mailing
and calling me to just back off? For your friend Parker, my given
name is Portnoy but I don't know what it "means" and for Jack who left
a comment for my blog last night -- I have absolutely no idea what you
are asking about. It seems I'm saying that more and more these days.

You guys have a great day and Queenie told me to tell you to stop
calling. She has work to do.

--Port

Wow. So do we quit contacting him? Do we try and make it a single point of contact? Granted, there are going to be a lot of people watching this - and acting of their own volition, especially if they don't see these boards. Heh - I guess it's kinda strange that one of the main points of contact for information, etc about all this - is asking us to leave him alone, lol.

I'm sending him a quick reply, that we'll try and honor his request as best we can, but I've stated that we don't have his phone#, and that whomever is calling his work - must actually know him. I'm going to try and keep the channels of communication open with him, unless someone else would like that honor.

I've asked him a couple of times now, about what he meant about "Jenny being his salvation" - but he's blatantly ignored each time. I'll keep pressing.

Weird. No response from Kelvinator via PM. Yeah, I'd say let's back off of Mr. Portnoy King, unless you get another response from him about Queenie. Someone to add to our list of characters? I've already tried Port Queen on blogspot, along with a bunch of other combos--beanking (which is kind of a neat coincidence, but definitely OOG), bellaking, etcetera.

Wulf, you seem to be "chosen" somehow--you're the only one he responds too, and you're also the one that got the code e-mail blamed on him. If there's going to be a single point of contact, it's you. If Maury ever responds to me, I can take care of him, but I'm thinking for now we just let it chill.

And maybe bang our heads against the Konig Darzin Code?

Edit--Oh, and on Jennie being his salvation? Seems a pretty standard literary/psychological trope to me--he couldn't save his own daughter, so he tried to save that one, and failed as well. He's failed to save at least three women: the motorcycle accident, Bean, and Jennie. Then, he failed to save his marriage.

On Bean--death by blunt force trauma to the head? Isn't it a concussion that makes your pupils blow up like that?

New post, so FRANKIE SAY RELAX. This is still playable. If Mr. King were really worried about all the attention he was getting, he would've stopped writing.

And re: Portnoy: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Portnoy's_Complaint

Ethics vs. Sex?

portnoy's complaint seems to fit the bill, re:

Quote:
Structurally, Portnoy's Complaint is a continuous monologue as narrated by its speaker, Alexander Portnoy, to his psychoanalyst, Dr. Spielvogel.

The writing on PK's blog is definitely monologue-esque (and an entertaining read at that). If I were to make an inference it would be that Port was in love with Jenny.

"Frankie Say Relax" is yet another music reference. I'm starting to wonder if there was something 1407 Oakhurst Avenue in music, or if someone is from there.

Since nobody said they did it, I went ahead and dropped jjdemolaySPLATgmail.com a line:

Quote:
Mr. Demolay;

I've been told you know good theaters in the SF Bay area. I'm looking to catch a play when I go down there later this year. Any suggestions? I've heard the Curran is good, any thoughts?
