Interesting.

If you take the code at the top of the page: 88.55.99.209.198.55.11.132
And divide all of them by 11: 08.05.09.19.18.05.01.12

Simple substitution yields this: H.E.I.S.R.E.A.L

"HE IS REAL"

?

Another good find. I've never even heard of this website. Although I hate that I have to sign up for another social networking site, just to see the info.

@Schwinn- I missed it too. I think the problem is, we've been looking too much - lol. Set of fresh eyes comes in and says "uhh - so did you guys check the same blog site that the others have been on for the name they've been telling you?"

I tried adding bdbrickerSPLATyahoo.com to Y! Messenger but he ended up declining along with sending me a blank message.

Silently glad, as I'm terrible at the communication aspects.

bdbrickerSPLATyahoo.com works and... I was kinda thrown off by how casually he responded. Er. Time to ask more questions.

OH WAIT he's messaging me hang on--

Quote:
bdbricker:
Which oracle do you mean?

clas1ca:
The one in a manuscript I've found. One that has your name on it.

bdbricker:
Okay. Where did you find a manuscript with my name on it?

clas1ca:
Believe it or not--on a jumpdrive, in a San Francsico toilet.
Entitled "The Brightman Oracle".

bdbricker:
I don't know what to say, that's my novel. But I've never shown it to anyone.
A toilet?
What does the jumpdrive look like?

clas1ca:
I don't have it, personally--a friend of mine collected it. I think it was green.
The jumpdrive actually didn't have actual files on it--they were temporary autosave ones that ended up on there.

bdbricker:
I used to use that to transfer stuff from work to home. I thought I lost it -- but definitely not in a toilet in San Francisco.

clas1ca:
Where did you see it last?

bdbricker:
I had it about two weeks ago. At home. Can I get it back?
Does your friend live in Santa Rosa? Have a habit of robbing houses?

clas1ca:
No--he lives in San Francisco.
Funnily, we didn't just stumble upon it--someone led us to it. We're not entirely sure who they are, though.
Just a vague pusedoname, "The Patriot." Does it ring any bells?
but I'm sure we can get it back for you, if my friend could get in contact with you somehow. post, perhaps?

bdbricker:
Who are you? Your story doesn't seem right to me.
How many pages of my book are on the temporary files?
It's starting to hit me that you are reading it. I didn't want anyone to see it until it was done.

clas1ca:
I'm sorry. we found the thing and we were trying to figure out who it belonged to...
there's only about 16 pages of the novel on it.

bdbricker:
Thank God.
Then how did you know about the Patriot?

clas1ca:
The Patriot kinda contacted me first, before we found the manuscript.
He had taken over a blog of another friend of ours who goes by the name of Port King.

bdbricker:
And how did you track me down from a name on a file? Was there more personal stuff on there?
Port King? ahh...yes. Right.
I thought by your art that you would be cooler. What do you want from me?

clas1ca:
What do you mean? You don't know Port...?

bdbricker:
That's personal information. That novel is very very important to me and it really bothers me that people are reading it.
Of course I know Port King. I created him.

clas1ca:
You did?
http://portking.blogspot.com/
Is this blog familiar to you at all?

bdbricker:
The problem is that other people shouldn't know him.

clas1ca:
Because this is how I found Port.

bdbricker:
I don't blog. And that doesn't have anything to do with my book.

clas1ca:
the posts were deleted... but in those posts detailed a lot of things that you talked about in your manuscript.
which is why I assumed you knew Port...
if I may, can I send you a copy of the original blog posts?

bdbricker:
Sure. Listen. This has really gotten me kind of torqued and I have to leave work. I'm sorry if was short with you, but it's apparent that somebody stole that jumpdrive and it REALLY upsets me that people are looking at my book. I can't even think right now.

clas1ca:
I'm really sorry. I'm just as confused as you are, really.
I will talk to my friend about sending back the drive, if we could arrange that.
but if Port is your character, I think you might be very interested in the blog posts, then. or at least who was writing them, because they are very similar to your writing.

aaaaand he's gone. However, he did give me vague permission to email him again, which I will be (ab)using to the fullest extent, hrr hrr. (:<

I sent him a fairly apologetic email and attached the copy of Port's old blog and the more complete copy of the manuscript, plus I threw in Hatch's blog to give him something to think about. Hopefully he'll see us as no threat and email me back sooner or later with more curious details.

This only raises even more questions on top of the ones we have yet to answer. Who thieved the jumpdrive out of his house in Santa Rosa? (JDM??!) Port's not real? He's only a character? WHO THE HELL IS HE THEN?

Agh. Brain hurts. Going for a lie down.

Wow nice job. Definitely a lot of things to consider here. I don't recall the name of the movie that came out in the past year, with Will Ferrell, but essentially he was playing a character that someone created in a book?

So now we can add that particular scenario on top of all of the rest of them, Freemasons, CIA, Good vs Evil, Tarot, Greek Mythology, Murder mystery, - did I miss anything? All we need now is for someone to reference Pink Floyd (notice that all of the movie/song quotes disappeared?) and somehow include superhero culture (Superman, Batman, Shazaam) - and I think we'll have covered just about every type of story genre out there. Unless the PM's wanna throw something about the Smurf's in for kicks? LOL

I think this, TINAG, is going to be an influence in me developing a drinking problem.. Very Happy

=edit=
We should probably put together a list of topics/questions for Classical to put to Bricker, just to make sure we have our bases covered. For example:
1) If King is "his" character - why does both the Oracle AND JDM consider him to be of such import (unless they're a part of his story as well....*rubs chin*) - AND how the hell did he send me a package via US Post? Cuz if someone says I'm getting mail from some 3rd dimension, I'm gonna start a bonfire.. Wink

Stranger than Fiction, you're thinking of. Which this game definitely is turning out to be.

But yeah, let's get some questions together so in case Bricker feels chatty after this, I can throw things at him. |D Though, for now, I'm going to be taking the 'polite, sorry, and confused' role until I can get him to slip up somehow. I tried to explain to him that we were mere 'treasure hunters' and thought that this novel was apart of a 'puzzle'... :B

I, for one, am curious how the Brightman Oracle plays into this. Which is why I included the other blog in the email I sent out. Hopefully I will get to ask him more questions about that side of the story the next time.

Double post, BUT
I wrote:

me wrote:
Hello Mr Bricker--
As promised, here is a copy of the blog posts before they were deleted. The person behind this site claimed to be Portnoy King as he described in these posts.

Also attached is something else that may be of interest to you, or not--a simple google of your novel's title brought me to this blog, written by a T W Hatch: http://thebrightmanoracle.blogspot.com/
which were also erased in the same manner of Port's. I'll let you read the posts and decide for yourself as to what exactly they mean to you.

And there is also the copy of the manuscript that was found. Kinda to back myself up, here. I know I might be talking at a wall at this point, but I assure you that my friends and I have absolutely no malicious intent--we are only curious treasure hunters solving puzzles for prizes. (Just very confused ones now.) And we thought that your identity was a puzzle for us to solve... I would be happy to show you the puzzle, in fact, that led us to your jumpdrive, if that would help you any. Your manuscript has not been shared outside of the small circle of us treasure hunters, and I swear that we will never spread it anywhere else.

I am, however, concerned about the person claiming to be The Patriot who led us to you in the first place. I don't think he or she will be as gentle in their intents with your material...

-- C

And he replied:
Brian Bricker wrote:
Courtney (can I call you that?),

I have to apologize for earlier. I was so mad (and kind of embarrassed) that you had read part of my novel and I wasn't really sure how to respond. Not to mention how much it bothers me that my jumpdrive disappeared from my house and appeared in a toilet that was apparently part of your treasure hunt!

While driving home from work I really started realizing that I was kind of rude to you -- if you are truly who you say you are.

Listen, there's something really wrong with that story. My book. And unfortunately I'm not as surprised as I probably should be to see the blogs that you sent me. I thought that deleting it all and moving half way across the country might have stopped it. I obviously should never have started writing it again but it just won't leave me alone. Does that happen with your art? Do you get an idea that follows you...year after year...until you finally just have to create it? Maybe it's just me.

Please tell your friend to just destroy that jumpdrive. I think those temp files wanted to be found.

Sound crazy? Believe me, I know. Consider yourself lucky that Arlen didn't show up this time.

I can assure you that there's really no treasure to be had here. Just isolation and fear. And paranoia...obviously.

--Brian

Hmm. Now he's backtracking all over the place. But, note the 'Arlen'. Arlen P Rage again? 'DeMolay is Rage?' I'm totally asking him about JDM.

edit;; dang, I was in the middle of responding to him when he starts IMing me back!

Quote:
bdbricker:
Did you get my apology?

clas1ca:
hey--yeah, I did. I was just responding to it, actually!
Really, though, don't worry about it. I know I would feel quite the same if that happened to me.

bdbricker:
I was just checking my e-mail and saw you online.

clas1ca:
joys of the internet, huh? this is quite a strange happening.

bdbricker:
Yes I suppose it is.
Just to let you know I've only got a minute.
My wife rented 'Lost' and we are going to watch a couple of episodes tonight.
I just wanted to make sure you knew that I didn't mean to be rude earlier.

clas1ca:
hey, no problem, man.

bdbricker:
Do you paint or is that computer art that you do?

clas1ca:
a little of both, really!

bdbricker:
It's amazing. Really.

clas1ca:
aw, thanks--and if you don't mind me saying, your writing is also very strong.
and I understand what you said about the ideas following you around... it eats at you, doesn't it?

bdbricker:
Thanks. I've made most of my career out of textbooks.
Yes...they can.

clas1ca:
I've found that, sometimes, one of the better things to do is to share those gnawing ideas with someone, just to get it off your chest.
if you need an ear, I'll be listening.

bdbricker:
Thanks. I appreciate that. But it would be better to forget me and my book.

clas1ca:
Why so? to be honest, I'm a little concerned if that jumpdrive was stolen from you...
I know that you mentioned you were in the Santa Rosa area--a friend of our treasure hunting group went missing two weeks ago. He was last seen in Santa Rosa.
would you mind me asking if you've seen any local news regarding a man named Muray Kelvin?

bdbricker:
I hate to ask you, but are you mocking me?

clas1ca:
really, I assure you, I'm not.
a man named Kelvin came to us, in a sense, because he was being threatened by another named Jack DeMolay.

bdbricker:
DeMolay?
Why do you think that Kelvin is missing from Santa Rosa?

clas1ca:
we haven't heard from him since. in fact, our group is fairly certain that DeMolay has something to do with his disappearance.

bdbricker:
Listen, forget my book! PLEASE have your friend destroy that jump drive. Make sure that my book is not posted where anyone can read it and don't read it yourself. I'm sorry. I really am. DeMolay is Rage. Where's King?
In your trasure hunt thing?
Where is King?

clas1ca:
he was arrested in Oklahoma City. transferred to Washington, DC.
just before he was arrested, he sent one of our members a book. 'As a Man Thinketh'.

bdbricker:
Oh shit. That means it's starting.
I don't know what to do.
I'm sorry.

Some questions for Bricker.

I just wanted to put some questions up for Bricker if and when he shows up again. This way when he contacts one of us [I'm looking at you class] we will have some questions already for him.

Feel free to PM me some question and we can add them here.

Quote:

Questions for BD Bricker:

You mentioned that "it" was starting again. What is "it"?

Why should we not read you manuscript? What will happen if we do?

The characters and places in your novel, were they based on real people and places?

Brightman?

How much more of the novel is completed?
Can we read some more?

Do you like Starbucks? (just kidding)

Who is Demolay/Arlen? what are his connections too you and the manuscript?

What did Arlen do we he showed up last time?

Who is/was Muray Kelvin?

Can you give us more info on the Oracle?
