Bricker is in IRC chat right now, with Schwinn and I. Hurry and jump in if you have questions.

=edit
NOOOOOOO! How could I lose connection ONLY with iRC? Everything else is still connected? WTF?? Right as I was expecting an answer from Bricker.

@burrito - did it dump you too?

It's all pretty meta, but I emailed CptHolly the other night. I'll post the whole thing here.

TL;DR version

I reached out to her to find out more about her warning off other players (as a new player). She responds in an interesting but ultimately useless wall-o-text of meta info. I ask a couple of questions that she dodges answering.

I don't think it's very important to the story, but there it is for prosperity.

Sorry if someone found this already: http://thehazeltinereport.blogspot.com/

One is very, very real
And unfortunately...the other is too.

I've reached the point of ignoring the interference from these people (or person, rather.. as I've a strong suspicion that monkeytribe = kade = de = captain holly).

I love the meta involved in the game, but this is boiling up further and further, and I have little doubt it will eventually culminate in an attempted gamejacking.

Excellent find, Deep. Didn't see that earlier, but it seems like it takes some time for those things to show up on Google.

Anyway... hoorah for cryptic messages! The image, though, is curious. The '94501' is a zip code off the coast of California, on the island of Almeda which is east of San Francisco. The street address seems to be on a rue? Could also be an 'avenue' not abbreivated, but finding that address doesn't make it any easier. ): I'm checking over a map, but if that letter is totally authentic, the street names might have changed since Carter was in office.

Of note, there is an ex-naval base in the area--the Naval Air Station.

edit;; I emailed Val Seer a little earlier, fishing for some information:

clarification?

Can someone help me on the timeline here? Did cptholly start on twitter BEFORE the character of Holly gave the clues to BB?

He was born in Morristown, New Jersey in 1886 and attended the Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, New Jersey majoring in electrical engineering. He graduated in 1906 and took a job at General Electric. He returned to Stevens to teach eventually becoming chair of the electrical engineering department in 1917. The following year he became a consultant for the United States Navy. It was a position that eventually parlayed into a position as an advisor to the U.S. government on regulation of radio broadcasting and a later position during World War II on the National Defense Research Committee.

2) a list of turnage appearances

I initially got turnage and the time travelling guy confused. The time traveler is William Trager...related to the "what's the frequency" reference earlier.

that, in turn, supposedly influenced the film 12th Monkey about a time traveler coming back to prevent a massive epidemic.

We also have the reference to the Bill and Ted's excellent adventure, another time travel movie.

So what can we learn of BB the radio host?

bricker's website is actually registered via Toronto. Now, it is one of those privacy protection registrars so that may not mean anything.

Regarding Tager...I don't think he ever said he was from the future, that is the internet legend. But the legend has him being the inspiration for 12 Monkeys.

http://www.thedailyblitz.org/tag/music

The real story is almost as weird...a guy at Harper's decided the attack was planned by author Donald Barthelme. The case is sort of plausible but it is the internet legend of Tager that seems relevant. For those interested:

I HAS A GOLDEN TIIIIICKET

So.
If y'all remember, Wulf, Schwinn, and burrito had a chat with Bricker earlier today in the iRC channel.

Later on, Schwinn, burrito, and I were visited by a mysterious guest in the channel. He called himself "Eric", and he introduced himself as one of the people behind the game--specifically, the guy playing Bricker.

And boy, was he in a panic.
To sum things up until someone with the full transcript can post it, Eric had ad libbed some stuff into Bricker's backstory that he says he shouldn't have, so now his 'job' was in danger. And he wanted us to edit the transcript to take these things out. While the rest of us were busy wtf'ing about this really wallbreaky conversation going on, the following discussion takes place to weird me the fuck out further:

Quote:
Eric: classical?
classical: hm?
classical: sorry, doing schoolwork
Eric: since i'm kind of oog at the moment i just wanted to say that your art is very popular here
classical: haha, well, thanks!
Eric: they even talk about it during the meetings
classical: heh, can't see it, but I'm blushing
classical: still a student, really--I don't get people talking about my work outside of the classroom
classical: so it's nice to know!
Eric: keep it up!
Eric: that's why they sent you the key, by the way
classical: ... so I have the key...?
Eric: you don't have it yet?
Eric: argh
classical: er, I might? I might not know what it is, yet
Eric: you'd know. they mentioned either FedEx or US post
Eric: i was under the assumption you'd have it today
classical: ... huh!
classical: I did check my mail today; nothing yet
classical: but um, I'll keep an eye out
Eric: i'm just turning into a fountain of screwups today!

I actually REALLY wanted to say: '... buhhhhhhhh?' (Somehow, the idea of being the subject of the water cooler chat for these guys is just too weird.)

Eric makes a hilarious exit, which will have to wait until someone else gets the transcript up, Eric under Bricker's yahoo account leaves me a message:

Quote:
I think they know what I did. If I don't come back, here: 566-74-0979

This social security number belongs to one Diana Catherine Madden, who died in 1997 in California. After further investigation... she was married to a William Bricker.

She's related to the real Brian Bricker. So let that sink in for a second.

... good?

Right. I haven't gotten any mail where I currently live. But the 'hazel teen' reference has been making me wonder all fucking weekend. (If you haven't heard my paranoid ramblings already, my parents do/I used to live near a Lake Hazeltine. Not a common name.) So I email my mother about whether or not anything came to the house addressed to me. She replies:

Quote:
I have a regular sized envelope from A.R. in S.R., CA

... FUCKKKKKKKK

So my parents' place is like forty minutes away from where I actually live, but I got back in an hour because I'm awesome like that. And you'd drive fast if you got this 'key' in the mail, too:

This is the real thing, guys. You can't make this shit up.

(There is nothing really else to note except the return address is for a Starbucks corporate headquarters in Santa Rosa, lol. That, and Rage has pretty handwriting. It is VERY similar to Port's handwriting in the book, in my opinion.)

Because I'm dumb and used, in-game, the email address connected to my portfolio site, which has more than enough personal information on it that could be used to Google the address up.
The funny thing is that they apparently skipped over the fact that my current address is posted on my website, hrr hrr.
