Yeah, I'd tried that with no luck, but then I'm using Camoflage, and I've seen it fail where others have worked before, so could someone else give it a go too?

Ok, found it, it's:-

Spoiler (Rollover to View):

which I'd swear blind I'd tried earlier. Anyway, it reads:-

Not simple binary. Is it binary-to-Morse?

Each octuplet seem to translate into a digit. e.g. the first line
Quote:

00110001 00110101 00110001 00100000 00110000 00110100 00110000 00100000 00110001 00110101 00110100 00100000 00110001 00110101 00110001

can be translated into
Quote:

151 040 154 151

via http://www.roubaixinteractive.com/PlayGround/Binary_Conversion/Binary_To_Text.asp

The grouping is not random (00100000 translates into a space)

You're not crazy... I tried it as well. It's annoying to try the right answer with no payoff and as a result start wasting time on other avenues ...

It translates to

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
151 040 154 151 153 145 123 040 124 157 040 162 105 141 154 154 171 040 107 145 164 040 164 110 151 156 147 163 040 150 111 104 144 145 156 040 167 105 154 154 056

Which is octal, translating that to ASCII gives:-

i likeS To rEally Get tHings hIDden wEll.

The capitals are:- STEGHIDE

Laughing, that's a cluebat if ever I saw one

And, sure enough, using Steghide, there's an mp3 in the file:-

I'm in the office, so I can't listen to it right now.

For Merago and anyone else who can't listen right now, it's a male voice that sounds computer-generated.

Ooops! Poor Donovan. We could try that Nadia (or whatever her name was), maybe she's got a mobile number for Donovan?
