Dave's game, Chasing the Wish, was my first true introduction to ARGs and got me hooked for life.

So for some time he was like a rock star to me.

Over the years he became my employer, my teammate, my personal inspiration and a dear friend.

I'll miss the worlds you created, Dave. My memories of DEGs, cryptids, and evil puzzle cubes won't be the same without you. We lost a genius puzzle master, wonderful storyteller and a great man when you left. May you rest in peace.

Oh my, I thought he was better. I had no idea he was still sick. Crying or Very sad

While I was not his friend, acquaintance, or even a player of one of his games, it is terrible that he lost his fight with leukemia, and my deepest sympathies go out to all those who knew and loved him, especially his wife and son. I cannot imagine the pain they must be feeling right now.

Requiescat in pace, Dave Szulborski. You will not be forgotten.

Such a sad milestone is being reflected upon so poignantlly by each of these posts.

Sending my deepest condolences to his family, to his true friends here and also to those of us who weren't lucky enough to have met Dave and were touched by his life and his light. May he rest in peace.

I'm shocked and terribly saddened. Chasing the Wish was my very first ARG. Because of Dave, I took my first step down the rabbit hole and never looked back.

My condolences to all his family and friends. Dave, you will be greatly missed by the entire ARG community. Thank you for gracing us with immeasurable amounts of inspiration, imagination and fun.

I'm still holding on to the hope this is all a bad dream.

*hugs* Please give Tyler a hug for me.

I am still not really at a words point right now.

Condolences to those here and afar....

Like many newbies here, I did not have the pleasure of meeting Dave Szulborski, but from studying his game Chasing the Wish while learning about this thing we call ARG, I did get a little tiny insight into his mind, and it was a beautiful thing.

My deepest wishes for healing and peace to all of those who knew this man and sorrow for all of us who never will get a chance to go down the rabbit hole with him in this lifetime again.

I had heard that he was sick... I just... I wish I would have known that it was this. I should have stuck around in the community.

Dave was an excellent PM and just a great person. He inspired me to keep working after Project Gateway, and I still look at him as someone that really helped me to continue my path with the game industry. We didn't speak much, even though we literally lived an hour away from one another. I didn't get to play Chasing the Wish, although I wish I had.

We talked about meeting up one day... two PMs getting together to share some ideas over roller coasters at a local theme park. We tried to set a few dates, but we ended up being too busy with him working on his projects and myself out in college at Pittsburgh. I really wish we hadn't let that slip.

I'll be joining you all at this memorial service this weekend.

I'm saddened by the terrible loss of a person who meant a lot to many, and to me stimulated and inspired many thoughts and emotions through his games, stories, and ideas.

My sincere condolences to his family and those close to him, may they have peace and strength to bear his passing, and may he rest in peace.

RIP

Oh, damn.

Last I heard was of his "encouraging test results." I really thought he was going to beat his illness.

Much gratitude to Dave for all he created, and much sorrow for this great loss.

I'm like, bawling my eyes out at work. Dave was my personal hero, the guy that inspired me to get into ARGs, which are the things that changed my life. I'm really, really going to miss him.

EDIT: I'll be going the the viewing on Sunday. Hope to see everyone else there.

So sad. None of us is here for long. He did so much in the time he had.

What would heaven be without stories and puzzles? I bet Dave is already working on something new and amazing, waiting for us to show up.

If anyone out there has a mask from Catching the Wish and is able to bring it to the funeral home on Sunday or to overnight it to me, please let me know. Dave's wife would like to put it on display at the funeral home for the visitation.
