Okay, entered in. "Eiffel Tower" got me the snowboarder. On one of the promos, characters were talking about how they saw 'April 29, 2010', so I entered that. Nothing. God, hopefully that's not a launch date! xD

Cool Just for the fun of it I typed in mosaic 108 and got "your submission has been received. The Mosaic experience is dedicated to connecting the world one experience at a time". Sounds like it's on going plan.

I put in Lost and got '6 people saw the same thing you reported. The Mosaic Collective may contact you soon for further information."

This seems very interesting. I can't wait for the show. Very Happy

Cool I got a similar response. I got 9 people had similar responses. I still think, in the near future something will come our way as they have our e-mail adderesses. I can't imagine that this would be the only thing.

Also I found this the picture of the school shown in the flash forward.

Hey guys! I just got done reading "Flashforward,"(Literally, I finished it just now, it's not even been fifteen minutes) and wanted to share my thoughts on the book as it could relate to the TV show.

I hate to say this, but personally, I don't see how they are going to make a success out of this thing. I enjoyed the book for the most part (except for the end when it got kinda weird), but thought that the story would make a better mini-series than a full, multi-season epic.

The single, best reason I will be watching at least the pilot, for sure, is that I think the absolute carnage that would ensue while everyone blacks out for two minutes could be better illustrated on film than in the book, where I felt it glossed over things at times; I never got that visceral, holy-crap-that's-horrific feeling from the descriptions of the aftermath.

There are three ways, though, that I think they could make this work:

One: They base it sooo loosely on the book that the focus is fundamentally changed to something that can be dragged out for a while. The risk here is that they lose the essence of the story told in the book, leaving only a husk that really can't be called "Flashforward" anymore.

Two: They figure out after a presumably successful pilot episode how much time they want to tell the story(e.g. two or three seasons), and then secure a guarantee for themselves that they will get that time alloted to them. Isn't this what LOST did during the summer hiatus/regroup during season three?

Three: They make this a spinoff of LOST and base it within that universe, perhaps revealing the off-island effects of things that happened on LOST island, or something like that. I think this would pretty much guarantee some success, if only because it would be riding on LOST's coattails. Though this could also backfire, and be seen as a petty cash-in on the success of LOST(because we all know *that* has NEVER been attempted, right? *cough*LOST jigsaw puzzles*coughcough*). Wink

Anyway, I just wanted to throw my thoughts out there(it's therapeutic, you see...) and see what you guys thought. Lates! Wink

future plans
info

Yes I think ABC is walking a thin line on this one. They changed the "future memories" from 20 years to 5 months. Without flashforwards and flashbacks, as in lost, it may be hard to maintain viewer interest. I read the first few chapters of the book online and the concept is intriguing.
I suspect that the bulletin board in the trailer has more clues on it than first appears.

Even with LOST, the flash-backs and -forwards got on my nerves after a while, seeming to slow the plot down as a whole (I don't watch it that much any more, though I might tune in regularly for the final season), so I think they would do well to know where they want it to go before having to perform stall-tactics like LOST did.

I found the concept interesting, as well. I gotta say though, that Rob Sawyer isn't really that good of a writer. I mean his ideas are intriguing, but his style is, well---kinda juvenile, really. The characters(at least in Flashforward) are pretty one dimensional, and the character interaction is just ridiculous at times, and at the end of the novel, he just throws in a scene from out of left field that showcases his whacko view for the future of the human race and immortality that just kills the rest of the novel.

In terms of pure writing style, he actually reminds me of an easier to read Asimov with slightly better descriptive abilities; I was able to get a sense of the environment than the bare stage that Asimov fiction uses.

BTW, what is the trailer you are talking about? I don't remember seeing that one.

bullletin board

You're right Sawyer's writing is weak. That's why I didn't buy the book.
The trailer can be found on the site FlashForwardTV.com "A Glimpse of the Future" Part 2 of 2. Slow down the trailer and you'll see a ton of stuff on the board. I liked the time forwards and backwards in Lost and found them intriguing. But at any rate...ABC will need something to keep the audience engaged. Also I read on the above site that MosaicCollective.com will continue to run as the show progresses. Viewers can enter "what they see". They said that it will evolve into a social network site. This may be the thing to keep the audience engaged.

flash forward
web site

Cool ABC has posted a site for flash forward.
abc.go.com/primetime/flashforward/index

It has a section where you can post what you think will happen to you in a few months. It has a lot of suggestions floating around on the screen. They will check back to see if it happened.

signed up. When it asked what I saw, I said "A large quantity of Gold bullion beside me." It replied 217 people saw the same thing. Should be interesting.

Cool

I'm curious if they will use our e-mail adderesses to further advertise or involve us with the opening of the show? ABC didn't drop that "what did you see again" during the local news again.
