 		Hmm... I also thought it were usual substitution, but the numbers like 54 made me suspicious about. Perhaps this is a substitution where the numbers don't indicate the alphabet number (a=1), but the numbers are just another random entities, which should represent the letters?..

P.S. I wanna this Wired issue!!! Smile

Don't know how truly ARG-y it is, but mystery codes and puzzles in Wired is worth looking into Smile And JJ's good at hiding and provoking mystery as well... will be looking for it on lunch! heh

kosmopol, I picked up a couple of extra copies, I'd be more than glad to send you one. I have no idea how long it would take from the states sending priority mail, but probably less than 2 weeks. Let me know.

The May 2009 issue of Wired mag is amaing, guest edited by JJ Abrams. We all remember Cloverfield here, and this issue is no different. Someone already fond some of it out, but I needed to share.

 		There's tons of cool codes and puzzles in this issue. Solving them all leads to a wesite with the potential for prizes to early solvers. I'll try to scan some of the stuff i found later tonight, but they said almost every page has some kind of hidden clues or codes. I highly recommend picking this issue up!

On the two-page spread, the third work on the Left could be "aardvark." Dunno how that could possibly do anything, but you never know...
the misspelled word in The Purloined Letter give the letters "l t h e t i c a l" ("till cheat?")
The "How We Rate"'s bolded letters spell "tv brand shifts pay two steps"
the Teller Morse Code reads "MAGNETIZE"


Also, the Spine of the mag looks like it could apply to this http://science2.fartoomuch.info/measure.htm(scroll down to the big circle)

At the end of the last page of the START section, the slashes are in a stange pattern

On the second page of JJA's essay, there are strange cutouts on either side of the box with his work listed.

 		actually, the spine is 5-bit binary, 1-31 - which spells TREKKIE.

From what I can see, most of the puzzles are words/phrases... don't know what to do with them yet.

There are sets of puzzles, and I believe there are independent puzzles. Most are marked by a common title, like the 'Start', or 'Play' headers.

I'm also thinking there might be some invisible ink puzzles too... but I shattered my black light last week Sad

I want to start a list of anything I can find Smile... might put up a simple wiki page. hehe
