[Trailhead] The Great Holocron
TOR is arriving soon and a new ARG is kicking it off!

Hello, I am Jaq Rand. I go by the same name without a space on the TOR forums. Tor is, of course, The Old Republic. A new MMO by Bioware and Lucasarts. I was given a profile comment asking me if I sook knowledge. I followed up on the comment by looking at "TheGreatHolocron"'s page and saw several people left comments, responding to the holocron's question about knowledge.

A quick check on the holocron's profile said that he left cryptic messages in several hot topics around the TOR forum, and he is specifically targeting role players to start. I looked up his site using a Whois search and found it registered to a Cody Glenn. I emailed him and he responded out of character(Or In character?) after a few exchanges, specifically telling me that this is a new ARG. He will be starting it shortly, as of now you can register by typing in your email address at Thegreatholocron.com.

Thanks for letting us know about this, Jaq. I'll be signing up! It'll be interesting to see where this goes. Is this an official ARG, or a fan-made one?

Can someone translate the Aurek-Besh(The Star Wars alphabet) script on the webpage? I got "Seek Answers" on one of the lines of text, but that's all I feel like translating for now( It's late and I'm tired). Wink

It looks official, but I guess we'll see. One of my friends from the forums translated the image for me.

whois shows registrar as Cody Glenn with the same email address as is listed in the contacts of a Matrix Online support: www.mxo.it (CR.GLENN06SPLATGMAIL.COM).
Quick google search shows this bloke: http://www.myspace.com/phrackepn whose profile lists "I play The Matrix Online and Star Wars: Galaxies, I'm addicted to Mobsters"...

...probably not official.

I entered my E-Mail address, and got http://www.thegreatholocron.com/index.php?m=added, which says:

I already did that, and seeing as I contacted him over email and he didn't act too in charactery I think this might turn out to be something like I Love Bees. Web admin gets his site turned upside down by something super star warsy.

I haven't really been much of a fan apart from liking the movies and playing a few games, but I've been geeking myself up for launch. It's possible they could do a time travel plot like they did in some one off series about non-canon happenings. I remember reading about one where Han Solo went through a wormhole and came out on Earth, where he found Indy. And I think Chewbacca became bigfoot.

Anyway, Mr. Glenn might be a character, which I'm leaning heavily upon, or he might be one of the men behind the curtain. If he's not then that won't stop me from playing, seeing as it's a STAR WARS ARG!!!

I've kinda been waiting for this. Very Happy

I assume those games are the KOTOR games? You *have* to be a fan of those. No, it is not negotiable; it is required that you play and like - nay, *love* - them. Muah ha ha haaaa!!! Twisted Evil

Kotor and the battlefront games, but apart from those I hadn't really been interested in the expanded universe. Now I can tell you the difference between Beskar and Phrik.

Yeah, me neither. The thing with KOTOR though, is that they are such good games in their own right you could play and enjoy them without being a fan of Star Wars. In fact, that is exactly what I did; I only really got into Star Wars, and indeed Sci-fi in general, in the past five years or so(I'm 20, so I guess I'm a bit late to the Star Wars caravan Laughing ) due in part to the fact that KOTOR 1 and 2 were so awesome.

Now that I think about it, I think I was going somewhere with all that, but I'm not sure where. Ah well... Wink

I thought I'd never live to see this day: a Star Wars themed ARG.

And this comes right on the heels of my finishing the Thrawn Trilogy for the umpteenth time. Perfect timing!
