We could claim that Jacob sent us...hey that sparks a thought. The Dharma Initiative was against the hostiles (who follow Jacob,) does that mean that Nathan wasn't joining 8th spoke, but was somehow intercepted by them as he was working with Simeon Hobbes. Simeon obviously follows Jacob according to his tweets...hmm...am I making any sense?

yes, you are making sense.
I think it's too hard to say, with the information we have, what, or who, exactly, Nathaniel got himself involved with. Not without knowing what the 8th spoke is really up to - what kind of revenge they are seeking, and against whom, exactly....

No that does make sense and it's a good point. I'd always assumed that Simeon Hobbes and 8th Spoke were on the same 'side' as it were but we don't know that. In fact it makes more sense that in the science vs. faith divide they would be opposing forces, not allies.

hmmmm...

Very nice...the "Third Force"
...Simeon Hobbes is not 8th-spoke, but they knew (somehow) about his (mysterious) skills, and wanted to prevent him from joining Jacobs weird army...Bot some how Simeon made contact...Which leads us to the question, whom to trust...

From Simeon Hobbes letter to Nathaniel:

"When Adomis (sic)told me what you could do, I knew you were a perfect candidate."

Who do you think Adomis is?

If we choose to trust Aidoneus (as Elliott seems to), then we should trust neither Simeon Hobbes nor the 8th Spoke.

@ elysium: I think simeon and --aidoneus are on the same side....

also @ elysium: ado(n)is-thought is nice...lokk what I found: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adonis "Adonis was certainly based in large part on Tammuz."

I really don't think that's the case. Aidoneus hacked Epithet Alpha's twitter. Simeon and Epithet Alpha were working together. If Aidoneus was working with Simeon, why would he have to hack a "friendly's" twitter account.

Also, according to what I've researched (and I could be wrong) Aidoneus and Adonis are two different characters in mythology. I think they may very well be two different people.

Also, I'm very sure that 8th Spoke is the new Dharma. They called themselves The Law, which is what Dharma can be translated to. Also, they hold a remembrance day every year on the exact date of the Purge that killed 40+ Dharma-ites. Dharma clearly did not follow Jacob.

Well, the first tweet posted by Aidoneus after he "hacked" epithetalpha's twitter was:

"DEFACED BY AIDONEUS. ĄDON'T TRUST SIMEON HOBBES!
3:07 AM May 18th from web "

So I was under the impression that they were opposed to each other. He also claims, in reference to @simeonhobbes:

"... if he wants you, he'll get you. And you'll never come back."

So, even if they are both AGAINST the 8th spoke, I don't think they are necessarily "on the same side"
I could be wrong, of course.... Wink

Elliott doesn't completely trust Aidoneus. He does trust them when it comes to 8th spoke...he says in his blog:

"But now that I know for certain that we're after the same thing (at least when it comes to who our enemies are), I find myself hesitant to take his advice. How do I know I can trust him? With that said, I will at least admit that I trust him in regards to what he has to say about the 8th Spoke."

Food for thought...

Yeah...but I think it was spelled adomis - with am M, not an N
vaguely reminiscent of "Adam"
Which would tie into the epithetalpha = first name idea.
Wait, i don't know if that makes sense now....
Anyhoo...I am just saying there was another person referenced in a letter from simeon hobbes that we have yet to identify.... Confused

All right then. Very X-files. Trust No One! Laughing

Yeah, I thought about that letter from Simeon for a long time...also searched for "Apollo's Creed" (not the character of Rocky Wink )
Found this: http://www.maicar.com/GML/Apollo.html The lyre and the curved bow shall ever be dear to me, and I will declare to men the unfailing will of Zeus.

Quote:
Simeon and Epithet Alpha were working together.
Well, is this a fact?

I wouldn't take anything as "fact", but it sure seems so. Simeon Hobbes directed people to "find the phoenix". Then confirmed that epithetalpha was indeed the phoenix he was referring to. We could be misinterpreting.

lol - when i first read "Apollo's Creed" I thought of Rocky too! Cool

I like this kind of discussions... If we keep in mind that this is at least a LOST-inspired ARG, it could also be possible that there are FOUR FORCES: the new Dharma, the Jacob-Followers (Simeon), the "Esau"-Followers (--Aidoneus???), and we (Elliot, Arg-ers, Nathaniel?)
