I must say this..
when we figured out the string of 27 letters and we were stuck, there was a comment on the WISH blog saying:

Some words I see in there..

the
science
i theta
search
research
of
anti
chain
theocracy
technocracy
institute
refute

Will post if i see anything else

i am pretty sure that this was a hint from the creator of the game because it contains the words institute, OF and research!! i laughed at the word "of" a few hours ago, but now i am almost completely sure that it was meant to be a hint (before the obvious tweet hints)

Once again I miss everything because of work...and I'm smacking myself because I had "institute of research" but didn't think the other letters meant anything. But great job to all who helped figure this out.

I got an e-mail from lovely reepicheep yesterday. I think I was the first too.

Luckily, I was in a car (on the way to NO DOUBT!!) and couldn't get on this forum to post it. XD

Aw well, I'm trying to catch up to where we are now, I'll try to help out if I can ASAP. Very Happy

Gah, I tried chenceyinstituteofresearch.co.cc a couple hours ago, didn't think to try .com, nice job!

Okay, so what if we're looking for another hidden clue? I mean like the passages from Iliad where we had to count certain letters and whatnot. Anywho, he/she says "cut off your pinky & maybe then you'll see." Does that mean the number we need is 9? Since cutting off our pinky would give us 9 fingers... Dunno

Again, just throwing stuff out there...

the number nine MUST mean something..
i just went on the wikipedia page for the number 9 and saw references to 2 of the clues:

A human pregnancy normally lasts nine months, the basis of the Naegele's rule.

The first nine days of the Hebrew month of Av are collectively known as "The Nine Days" (Tisha HaYamim), and are a period of semi-mourning leading up to Tisha B'Av, the ninth day of Av on which both Temples in Jerusalem were destroyed.

EDIT 2:
also, the /index.htm url gives a picture of just the mouse and says "you be the cat."
A legend says that the cats have nine lives.

I could be wrong, but I think that is just Reepicheep poking at us.

First off, just to clarify, *any* bogus URL at chechney leads you to the "you be the cat" page - I tried "nine.html" and "blah.html", and got the same thing.

I suspect he's saying, you be the cat, I'll be the mouse, so chase me (to the correct answer) if you can. But you may be right, I'd hate to overlook anything...

yeah.. you may be right about the one with the cat.. but the first three are obvious references to the number 9 (and 3 out of 12 is 25%) =)

There was a small icon in the middle of the page, where the mouse picture is on the other pages.

EDIT: Sorry, just realized I didn't mention that the link takes you to a page with the mouse on it. It's a dead end.
