Based on what Riddle! says, the 'touch the stars' clue makes more sense seeing as how there is a star key on a phone's dial pad.

So if this is a phone's dial pad, would the answer for crumb 12 ^ be 2? If "counting the dough" does mean 13 then the only thing in the way would be 2. Does that make sense?

What if it's not a telephone pad but a computer keyboard?...after all the clues mention spreadsheets and they also say they are literally right in front of our eyes.

So if the clues are talking about our keyboards and the answers to the clues are numbers, then maybe the numbers correspond to the letters on the keyboard.

For example: 1 = Q A Z; 2 = W S X; 3 = E D C etc.

Does that make sense?
