Hey guys, I'm back Smile I don't see anything in the letters Erin has, sorry. The most obvious typos are in the Nitti Family. Has anyonebody tried to convert the numbers found on the finalis page into something else by any chance? (I know it is a long shot, but it's something)

P.S: And yes, when that French plane disappeared it definitely reminded me of something. Terrible accident!

maybe too simple, but the "missing" letters from the nitti family are NMY, could be he's just telling us nitti is the enemy? no clues on the typos though...

Hey guys!

I've decided to join the madness of the ARG... I am a bit behind though, but my sister filled me in as much as possible.
I tried to make all sorts of combinations with the letters.
Nothing interesting so far, except for this but I really doubt it has any significance. An anagram of Aidoneus is: 'Adieu Son'
I guess we'll just have to wait until they give us another hint.

One last quick thing,
the code was finalis...... maybe the T is missing?
If we add another T, does that form a real word/sentence?

Sorry guys. That's all I got. I've been looking at the Chenchey site over and over again, but after a while it all kind of just blurs together. Smile And I definitely agree, we're missing something somewhere.

I'm getting blurry puzzle syndrome too. I decided to take a break this afternoon and stop looking at the Chenchey site for a bit - making my brain hurt! I was hoping something might have occured to me in my downtime... but nope.

Env420 - Have you heard anything from R33pich33p?

Think we may also need to be on the lookout for helpful 'strangers' on the WISH? blog!

I think that all the missing words and the words that are repeated (if they were put there on purpose) are a hint of something more general (maybe a characteristic of the person who wrote all the stuff)..

but for now, i think that our latest hint is more important:
20 8 5 – 15 9 20 20 9 – 6 1 14 9 12 24
which translates to:
T H E – O I T T I - F A N I L X (which almost surely is a deliberate spelling of "The Nitti Family", since Nitti is mentioned in the staff page)

and also.. since there is a directory /finalis/ at the chenchey website, i think we should try finding another .html or .jpg file in that directory.

This is what I've been trying.

Just to show how desperate I'm getting I've even been wondering whether the 'You be the cat' clue might be significant - if we have r33pich33p then maybe we have the 'cat' Aslan too? or A5lan?

Don't worry, I know it's not going anywhere. My poor puzzle ridden brain is just clutching at anything I can think of!!

just a thought..
did anyone tried using the numbers in correspondence with the four passages on the finalis.jpg? i think that none of the methods for cracking the numbers included usage of the letters from the text in the same image..

BTW, was the /news page riddle used in the solution to the finalis page or does it remain unsolved?

Sorry to quote myself but I'm still not sure if this was involved. Anyone?

Hi porridgebrain. It was this riddle:

Quote:
i'm not a one trick pony. i can do many things. i can scream & i can count & i can write spreadsheets.

On your blog, you describe its resolution as follows:

Quote:
After much debate, this was cleverly deciphered to mean a computer, and more specifically a computer keyboard

That's a really good point I haven't seen discussed. I tried finalist.html and t.html. Any other ideas?

How about this for another way of looking at it:

20 8 5 – 15 9 20 20 9 – 6 1 14 9 12 24
T H E – O I T T I F A N I L X

or

20 8 5 – 14 9 20 20 9 – 6 1 13 9 12 25
T H E – N I T T I F A M I L Y

O to N is 15 to 14 = -1
N to M is 14 to 13 = -1
X to Y is 24 to 25 = +1

So we have the sequence -1 -1 +1

any thoughts? Or is this making absolutely no sense?!

Just found it odd that all the 'wrong' letters were either plus or minus one letter from the original. Makes me think that maybe it's not the letters ONX themselves that are important but where in the alphabet they lie in relation to the original letter.

Yes I took it to be just another reference to the computer keyboard and it's numeric keypad which we needed to solve the rest of the riddle.
