At the bottom of the ToS is this:
Quote:
Document created Monday, June 1st, 2009 – 8:18 PM
c:/Personal Documents And Files/website files/mustloverobots.com/ccoldoil/personal/documents/newtermsofservice.doc

Why would this say mustloverobots.com? Unless MLR is connected to all of this also?

It might be a PM mistake, however, since http://www.mustloverobots.com/ccoldoil/personal/documents/newtermsofservice.doc doesn't go anywhere but http://www.robotfriendfinder.com/ccoldoil/personal/documents/newtermsofservice.doc does

And this is interesting too:
http://www.robotfriendfinder.com/ccoldoil/personal

Raffi, really??

EDIT: the ToS has been updated to lead to RFF rather than MLR, so it must have been a mistake after all.

I got my t-shirt from O11iver and Tim yesterday. It's gorgeous! Shame it took me so long to get it, being all the way over here. There's a message in it that says "Work together with the other winners to solve this URL: Super____ ____ .com". I'm guessing the other two have "Great" and "Ideas" but we'd better message them to check we're not missing anything.
My t-shirt arrived about half an hour ago. It's great. Smile The surprise was that it had been shipped from Belgium!

And here's a minor solve, to gain access to his publicity photos:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):

The passwords file says that this password is his favourite musical artist, which his RFF page says is:

bonjovi

Can't see anything unusual about the photos, though they're funny!

I like how the TOS talks about "purposes". And that your consent is asked for "when appropriate".

Just a few more couple funny details about the publicity photos, in document properties:
Subject: I am an awesome person and I look really good
Keywords: good looking man pretty glasses beard hairy
And maybe an insight into the character naming process over at MLR, the pdf producer is Quartz PDF.

Loving the mosaic face censoring. Laughing

Given the nice satire on Facebook and MySpace in the Terms of Service debacle, I thought it would be fun to continue it by creating a group within RFF to campaign against the new RFF Terms. It's at http://robotfriendfinder.ning.com/group/rffloversagainstnewtos -- join it!

Nice job spelling out our issues with the new TOS H(e)x. I joined and gave my support to what you wrote.

AN EXPERIMENT

Recently, there was some discussion about the size of the audience for this game. There are only a few robots signed up on RFF, yet the hits to this thread seem to be pretty reasonable (yet could be bigger). A discrepancy, perhaps?

Because in my real life I like hard data, I'd like to make a small request:

If you have been lurking in this game, could you please make a quick post just to say hi? You can keep lurking after that -- I'm just curious to know how many people are just 'following along,' simply watching the web videos etc.

However, if you'd like to say more than just 'hi' Smile I would also be interested in any reasons you can give for why you are just lurking rather than participating by creating an account on RFF or responding to Tim or 011ie on MLR etc. There will be no judgments about anyone's level of participation -- this purely for information purposes only.

Non-lurkers are welcome to chime in too Smile

^ Sure.

I'm following this one and have signed up at RFF; I don't feel like I've done too much, though it doesn't seem like there are too many puzzles and such... yet.

I'm really enjoying it, especially its humor and plot. Kudos to whomever thought this one up--it's both well-written and executed!

Having tons of fun watching (especially the extremely attractive Timmy!)

Hi.

I rarely do more than lurk. Heck, I wasn't even sure about posting here because then, omg, I've posted in a game thread and I don't think I've done that since Last Call Poker and when was that? 2005?

This game has me, gasp, almost actually playing it and stuff.

I've thought about getting more involved on RFF. I could talk about my sad tale of years of denial and self-hatred because, yes, I am a bot and it's time that I embraced that and stood up to the bullies and meanies out there. But that's really only funny if you remember how, in IRC, way back when, Martavius would accuse me of being a bot and I had a script that would reply "I am not a bot!" to every imbribot accusation. As there are, probably, few who remember such good times, it seemed like more of an old sad in-joke than anything actually humorous and I left it alone.

But, I must say, I really love this game. I like that I can just follow along and still feel as though I'm participating a bit. Also, it's fun & funny which is really nice change from all of the "omg catch the bad guy who works for an evil company that *twist* is really good and he's killing the bad guys that you've been supporting all along *twist* but they're really bad because they're from conspiracy organization x that you only know about through his cryptic tweets written in cool cipher of the moment that really became uncool the seven hundred seventy fifth time it was used but there are only so many easy cipher encoders that the evil guy could find online" type of games. I like that. I also like that I get to follow the sites that I choose to follow, watch the videos that I choose to watch, and have them pop up on my twitter feed occasionally, while still understanding most of what's going on. Bonus, I can interact in any of those ways if I want. It's passively active and that fits my playing style.

The sad thing is that the story, as it is now at least, doesn't require a lot of speculation and this style of game doesn't require a whole lot of online collaboration - there are no puzzles that require a half a dozen pages of the same half a dozen people struggling through the hints and, because the vast majority of interaction is well documented elsewhere, there's no need for a couple dozen posts filled with minddumbing chat logs or nested emails between character x and player y (that usually reveal little to no story but maybe just maybe there's a hint buried somewhere in there to one of those puzzles that's really just a cipher upon a cipher upon a cipher). And, so, the thread doesn't grow and doesn't get bumped and people don't realize that there is something awesome here. And that, I think, is a real shame.

So, um, bump. And, to paraphrase: ooo sounds awesome! I'm totally gonna lurk through this one!

I love robots like fat kids like cake.

Secretly. When mom isn't watching, ready to harp on you ruining your dinner, calling you a "rolly poly pudding that nobody wants to meet!"

And also when the fat kid peers aren't watching, because then the poor fat kid gets called names like "Fatty Fatty Cake Eater," "Fatty McGoo," and even "Flabbity BoBabbity."

... that kind of love.

So yeah.

I'm gonna be over there. Stocking up on batteries

I've been lurking a bit for a few weeks and got really addicted by Pastor Ludd's youtube videos... have been throwing in a couple of comments there and enjoyed the raging responses, especially his advice to bathe in acid. I thought you might enjoy that too:

I wrote:
But, dear Pastor Ludd, what would you suggest I do? I am a nice android lady, single, with a sweet robochild. No human man wants to stay with me although I look and behave more or less in a human way. I am a nice android! I won't do any human any harm. I have a soul! And you want to burn me? unhook me?

Pastor Ludd replied:
Well since you are a bot, albeit fleshy, i am going to give you some free logic that will lead you to the only conclusion. 1) You are an abomination to God. 2) Your existence represents the most offensive traits of man 3) The fact that you have enough confusion in your programing that you would contact me shows that you are poorly programmed and therefore an abomination to your own kind as well. The only honorable thing to do is to fill your tub with sulfuric acid and take a bath. PNL

(these were the comments to his 3rd gospel, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Z3xK2mrBEE&feature=related)

Coldoil's holding a live press conference to discuss the new TOS!

Carol Coldoil wrote:
A message to all robots of RobotFriendFinder

Hello Robot Community,

It was not my intention to cause such a stir with this most recently updated Terms or Service. I believe that this is simple misunderstanding, which can be easily solved. To rectify this situation, I have scheduled a live streaming press conference. At the press conference I will be fielding chat room questions, after a short statement. Hopefully, I will be able to help you understand the need for the new Terms of Service. I assure you that Robot Friend Finder wants nothing more than to provide you the best possible dating experience.

Terms of Service Press Conference
6/16/2009 9pm EST

Respectfully yours,
Carol Coldoil

Aww you beat me to posting! haha
Sounds like fun, a live press conference.

And for dante's experiment: The only reason I am not more active than I am is that I have a two year old son and I really only get a chance to be online while he's sleeping or watching a dvd which means I have to watch the videos on mute most of the time. Then later I try to sneak watching them with the sound up, sometimes it happens sometimes it doesn't. I keep forgetting to go back and watch the Pastor Ludd videos, I must do that today. But I watch everything on MLR with sound because, as kwool stated above, Tim is too hot to miss out on.
