I had quite an adventure at Subway today. At first the station attendant seemed utterly disinterested, but my antics became progressively more interesting. Very Happy After ordering a salad and a drink, I set up camp at one of the tables. I was able to get a clear video of entering the code by placing my camera on top of the rubbish bin.

Upon leaving the store another customer asked if I had lost a dare. I replied that I would not know until after the weekend is over. Smile

Outside there was even more fun. A few guys in a large van took intense interest in the robot costume. First they tooted, then they called out "what is the world coming to?" and came over to say hello. Unfortunately I was not filming at this point which is a shame because the guys were hilarious. They asked all kinds of questions about the construction of the robot costume, fiddled with all the knobs (actually just the one knob, but he managed to twist the entire multimeter upside down). One was forward enough to actually grab the egg carton on the front and ask "what are these for?". His follow up question was to inquire "what's under here?" while lifting up the butt flap! Shocked His final move was to eat a piece of the hair*. With friendly humans like these, who needs the 36? Laughing

* Although the hair looks like polystyrene, it is actually a non-toxic packing bead made from corn. The beads are apparently perfectly safe for pets to eat, but I don't think the guy knew that before he bit into one! He didn't come back for seconds.

I did mention MustLoveRobots.com, but I wish I'd had the foresight to write it down on a few pieces of paper before I left home.

Boy, I wish mine went over as well. I wound up just going in in my 'uniform' and annoying the manager by putting postit notes with little numbers on the soda fountain. I did manage to push the dispensers without getting soda all over my hands, at least, but she was glaring at me the whole time...

*sigh*

I'm encouraged that other people drank the "drink". I've now consumed a total of one cup of the mix and at no point did I sigh with refreshment. Rolling Eyes

The dragon mask was putting ARG swag (from Aporia Agathon) to good use - even if it isn't really supposed to be worn. Smile

Once again, I picked a quiet time and ventured into a second subway store. After paying for my order I was mostly ignored by both staff members. The first store had better ambience, cleaner tables, nicer customers, better salad presentation and most importantly, superior tasting salad. Just when I was about to start my photo shoot, a group of bmx teenagers entered the store. One of them began to launch spitballs at the ceiling fan with the paper covered straws. Once it was clear that the staff were not going to tell him off, he grabbed an additional double handful of approximately three dozen straws for this friends. At this point I thought that the staff had better not object to a robot taking photos. In fact, they pointedly looked the other way while I was lingering at the drink machine.

Perhaps I've been lucky with subway staff members, but they have been indifferent to me after I purchased some food. Avoiding rush hour probably helped a lot.

First of all, Standing Ovation for Pastor Ned. Best performance by a deranged, self-hating, word-mangling, break-out-in-song-singing, exercise-bike-riding man of the cloth in an ARG this year! I will truly truly miss Pastor Ned. That actor really committed to his role.

Second of all, it appears that the robots have been saved! (for now..)

Don't forget we've still got robot speed dating. Would be fun if that was a nice "011iver found love in the end" epilogue.

There's another new video at MLB.com, and a whole host of related Tweets. THings are coming to a head with Chuck and 011iver, and it's getting realy tense. CHuck is so upset at 011iver's denseness, and she's thinking about leaving as a result!

I wrote a heartfelt e-mail to 011iver as H(e)x, telling him what my instinct6-circuits were telling me about Chuck's feelings. Going to call him later tonight as well. This is urgent!

Oh man, 011iver's so dense:

Quote:
My feelings about Chuck are a little complicated. I guess I never really noticed her before, I mean she's cute and funny and really the perfect girl, but I've never really thought about being with a human being. Plus, I never realized that she might have feelings for me. I don't know what to do about it, it seems like it's all coming on so quickly. She seems to have dropped off the face of the planet, and I am leaving in two days for a big robot speed dating thing for a few days. I know Chuck, I'm somewhere between 60% and 88% certain that she isn't really going to leave NYC. I'll see how she and I both feel after I get back from Portland, maybe she will have cooled out a little by then.

I think this needs a two-pronged attack, here. I see Rowan and some other ladies have been giving Chuck comfort and advice; I think we need some more folks, including some back-slapping masculine types, to give O11iver a shake-up!

That looks like it was a lot of fun. Technology is a wonderful thing!

Any important events any attendees would like to summarise for us?

I watched the ustream of the Robot Speed Dating, and I think it's worth noting that some of the players threw Rowan a robo-baby shower with the cutest cake I ever laid eyes upon.
