This definitely looks interesting. There's a posting on the TransitionTimes website for a stealthy traveler for a secret mission, so I sent an email enquiring about it.

I am interested in the position of a Stealthy traveler for a secret mission that I found on the Transition Times website.

If you could provide me with details of whom to contact for this position, I would be grateful.

I suppose they would/should have taken it down if it was no longer available, but you do realise caffeind got that? You may no longer be able to get in there.

Yeah, I realise that caffeind got it, but I assumed they would have taken it down if it was no longer available (they did with others from what I read).

Edit: Hehe, the ad has now been taken down.

another piece of the puzzle:
Quote:
As you scramble up the dragon's tail, you hear Mercenary Muffin's voice. "Alright...do you know the Governor? Hmm? Gov-er-nor..."

The dragon snorts. Fearing another blast of fire, you reach out for the dragon's flaky wing and begin scratching its shoulder.

There is a sound to your right, and you look over. It is another traveler climbing the dragon!

"Gov-er-nor…" Mercenary Muffin repeats, and this time the dragon sits on its hind legs, nearly knocking you off.

You cling on until the rocking stops. The traveler next to you has climbed to the top of the dragon's neck and sits there now, like a jockey on his horse. The traveler looks totally at home.

The fire is drying out quickly around you, and everything seems fine.

Then you notice the brand on the dragon's left wing. It is a deep burn mark, and it reads, HEEKA GOAWY.

Looks like someone wanted the poor dragon to go away! Unless that's a name.

So we have 6.20 and HEEKA GOAWY. This has some interesting anagrams, but I don't think they apply: Awake Hey Go, Awake Ye Hog, Away Geek Ho, my personal favorite - Awoke Gay Eh, then there is Weak Gay Hoe...as I said, I don't think anagrams will help! Laughing

I think my next move will be to ask my fellow flyers about the name and see if it elicits a reaction from the dragon.

Just my two cents, but a name that's burned into a dragon's hide might not be its happiest memory, and you might not want to mention it while you're ON said dragon, or in flaming range!

You have a point! Maybe I'll just point it out to them. It would be hard to hear me over the whooshing anyway.

Sorry for the delay - work has been busy. Here is the reply I sent:
Quote:
Muff scrambles up the dragon's back, too, nearly dislodging me in the process.

"Hang on tight," I hear and just barely manage to grab onto one of Muff's belt loops before the wind is blowing in my face and my legs go flapping in the breeze.

"AAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH," I yell ducking my head into my arms.

Apparently Muff felt the tug on their pants and reached around to see what was attached. Feeling me, Muff wrapped their fingers around presumably to drag me to safety. The dragon gave another mighty swoop of it's wings panicking Muff who proceeded to squeeze the air out of my lungs.

Soon I found myself in front of Muff's face. That's when Muff realized I was a female and that their thumb across my chest was smashing my...er...lungs.

"Oops!" Muff said, turning bright red,"sorry about that!"

Now that I could breathe and my arms were mine to control again I began wildly waving and pointing down to the wing I had been scratching. I tried to say the words that were branded there but the wind just snatched my tiny voice away. Muff got the message though and looked where I was pointing seeing the words HEEKA GOAWY as I had.

Satisfied I relaxed and waited out the ride to the mansion.

Nice find, WolfHawk! If this was found on the dragon's left wing, maybe there's something on his right wing?

Now, seeing as this was found branded on a dragon, we can presume that the language might have something to do with dragons. Lo and behold, the Draconic-to-English dictionary here tells us that HEEKA is Draconian for Temple, and GOAWY is Draconian for Place/Location. So branded into his left wing is Temple Place. So... maybe we're flying to the village church? And maybe they charge $6.20 for admission?

A few phrases in Draconic we can use:
- Austrat udoka ekess douta okarthel ~ 'fly us to your home'
- Yth confn persvek martivir ~ 'we come in peace'
- Shio di douta base re belhal ekess udoka ~ 'all of your base are belong to us'

EDIT: Reply

Quote:
It is amazing. The wind rushes around you, cold and thrilling, and you feel utterly free. You are sitting with friends atop an ancient, powerful beast, high above the village. For this moment, you feel that there is nothing you can't do. There is nothing you fear.

You are riding a dragon.

Below you, everything looks as small as if it were a tiny model. There's the farmer's field. There are the little houses. There's the church.

You squint and look again. There are ghosts lined up outside the church – maybe fifty of them – and they appear to be dancing. Today is the end of the mid-June festival in Transition Village.

The dragon pauses mid-air just above the townsghosts and beats its enormous wings. It cranes its long, thick neck and looks at you.

Mmkay... I'm scared now Very Happy I'm unsure how it managed to look at me, as I thought I was on its neck... unless dragons are contortionists Razz

OMG look at my suit

Quote:
You peer into the room with the ghost, who you suddenly realize is a young man dressed in a driver's uniform.

The room is a small, dark place. At one end is a thin door covered in numbers that you cannot read from here. To the left of the room is a tiny bed. To the right is an old dresser and another thin door. There is a closet at the back wall., and your window is actually inside the closet itself. You are squinting through hangers and servants' clothes.

The door on the right wall is closed. The door on the far side of the room is also shut. Both are an equal distance away, but the young man crying on the bed is facing the far door.

As you sit outside, you examine your stealth suit. It moves without making sound, and your body is camouflaged against any nearby surfaces. The suit is not heavy, and you seem to be able to carry many items in its numerous pockets.

Yea so im gonna think about my next move, just felt like sharing this new info with the rest of you all..

You take the life bead out of the cabinet and look at it. It swirls with a power that is very familiar to you. You know what this thing is capable of, so you put it in your pocket.
Just then, a ghost walks in the door! She is young and wears a servant's dress. She smiles at you and hands you a plate of pie.
"It's the end of the mid-June festival," she says. "Have some pie."
You take the pie, and the young lady vanishes. It's a warm slice, filled with blueberries. It smells good.

should I eat pie from someone I don't know o.o?

Quote:
Uhm that pie looks great, but I am too nervous about my mission to eat something. I'll take it with me, maybe I met someone, who is really hungry.
As there is no interesting stuff in this room left for me, I need to go on searching for the thimble.
I will search for it in one of the rooms on the floor with the statue.

xD

Your friends quickly sort things out, and all three of you are sitting on the dragon. It is time to lift off.

With a grunt and a flapping of its massive wings, the dragon takes you high into the air.

It is amazing. The wind rushes around you, cold and thrilling, and you feel utterly free. You are sitting with friends atop an ancient, powerful beast, high above the village. For this moment, you feel that there is nothing you can't do. There is nothing you fear.

You are riding a dragon.

There is a tug at your pants, and you reach down to see what's pulling. It's your tiny companion, hanging on for dear life! You pull the traveler up and suddenly realize your thumb is squishing … her … chest.

Blushing with apologies, you put her in a more comfortable position. She is pointing at the words branded into the dragon's skin. What do they mean?

Suddenly, the dragon pauses mid-air just above the townsghosts and beats its enormous wings. It cranes its long, thick neck and looks at you.

My reply:
Quote:

"What's up, Drake?" I say to the dragon. It huffs at me, still flapping its massive wings and hovering in the air.

"Drake?" Asks the fellow behind me.

"I thought he should have a name." I reply.
I glance over at the words on the wing, silently saying them to myself.
"Heeka goawy. Hmm...anyone know what that might mean?"

The traveler, whom reveals his name to be Fractal, speaks up.
"I think I might know what it means!" he shouts above the whooshing air from the dragon's massive wings.

"Really? What?"

"Well if I remember my Draconian right, 'Heeka' means 'Temple', and 'Goawy' means 'Place or Location!' So maybe we're going to the church!"

"Wow, nice find!" says WolfHawk.

I think for a moment, gazing down at what is apparently today's date on the dragon's neck.

"Hey Fractal, I think you're, we need to get our large friend here to take us to the church! Do you know any other phrases that could help us?"
Fractal searches for the right words, finally saying the phrase "Austrat udoka ekess douta okarthel! Try that one! It means 'Fly us to your home'!"

"Alright, here goes..." I reply, looking back at the dragon, who is still staring intently at me.
"AUSTRAT UDOKA EKESS DOUTA OKARTHEL...please" I say to the dragon.

"I hope you know your dragon-speak, friend!" I say back to Fractal, waiting for the dragon to make a move.

Hey, I have to nominate someone as queen of festival. Who would like to be nominated?

TV said:

As the professor snores soundly on his bench, you admire the stained glass, with its beautiful depictions of dragons flying throughout the skies.

Then you move to the altar to determine what seems wrong with it.

As you get closer, you realize what it is: there are two empty flower pots, each with an image on it. The first pot has the image of a bar of soap, and the second pot has the image of a very sinister-looking pinwheel.

It might be possible to fill these pots with soil, although the ground outside is hard-packed. If there were a graveyard nearby, you could probably use the soil from there.

You may take only one item per turn.

I replied:

I take the pot with the image of the soap, hoping it means something better than the other. I walk out of the church in search of the graveyard, making sure that the door to the church won't shut while I'm outside.

TV said:

You grab the pot with the image of the soap and walk outside, leaving the door propped open. However, you don't get to the graveyard. In fact, you don't get more than two steps.

There are ghosts outside – maybe fifty of them! They are all crowded around the church, and they are dancing. This is the celebration for the end of the mid-June festival.

One ghost notices you and says, "Our festival king is asleep inside the church?"

You realize he must mean the professor, so you nod.

"That's no problem," the ghost replies. "We always crown our king and queen the day after the festivities. Then they reign until the next year! All we need to know is who will be our queen. Any ideas? Tell your friends to just call it out!"

A female ghost runs up and tickles the man you're speaking to, and he rushes off to chase her, leaving you alone in the transparent crowd.

Just then, you hear something loud above your head, like the cracking of thunder. You look up.

It is a dragon!

The ghosts around you begin to cheer.

"It is here!" they say.

"We can hold the crowning ritual!"

(waiting to reply until I find someone to nominate)

Lairo!

... That's the only person playing that I'm pretty confident is female. So she is my obvious choice.
