T.V.'s reply to my last turn to inspect the plant:

Quote:
Holding your precious dust in your other hand, you pick up the potted plant and inspect it. There is one flower sprouting – it is a strange sight in this bleak, early morning air. Transition Village is (and always has been, to your recollection) a town very thin on shrubberies of any kind.
You adjust your hat and sit down with the flower. The dirt in your hand feels very warm, and the two of you sit together, admiring the plant.
It is a rare species that you've never seen on any of your adventures. Its pink, circular petals glisten with the morning dew, and the long, green leaves are as thin as fairy wings. A fragrance blows toward you on the wind that reminds you of the happiest day of your life.
Then you realize something: the same flower appears on the carved handle of the church door. You could probably put the flower inside the carving itself, and it would fit perfectly. Unsure, you stand up. You lift the pot to the handle and try to decide. Should you pick the flower?
The dust in your hand quivers.

My reply:

Quote:
Looking back and forth between the dust mite quivering in my palm and the strange beauty of the plant I have found I feel torn. The scientist in me demands I protect the plant, as an undocumented species it is priceless. Besides, I feel like I would rather die than snap it's fragile stem.

At the same time though I feel the very real ghost in my palm, it's tremors expressing more than words could. I feel her fear, her trust, her hope all pulsating in my hand and flooding my mind.

"A flower or a ghost?", I mumble aloud.

"Well, if this goes bad and I end up dead you owe me a date.", I tell the dust mite as I take the small flower in my hand and in one quick movement snap it off the stem and prepare to place it in the church door.

Ok, it is time to get a few answers and find out if I should risk my new job or not.
Quote:

I gently with my left hand tip her chin up to look deep in to my eyes and softly but firmly ask "What am I looking for and what do I get out of this? After all, this seems like a risky mission that neither you nor little Napoleon here are willing to do your selves." If she was not playing with my hair interested in me before she is now, entranced looking in to my mournful blue eyes.
Without looking away, I reach back and blindly grab the center chest of Little Napoleon's shirt using that same index finger to wave him off and to be quiet. After all, they are not adventurers like myself.

reply:

Now that your eyes have adjusted and you can see the people in front of you, you decide to use your true powers: seduction. You find the female – who happens to be a ghost, but you don't discriminate – and gently show her what you are really all about. The man nearby, a short, stalky ghost, immediately becomes agitated and stammers a few times about how you should keep your hands off of her, but you brush him off easily.

"You, you want to know what we're asking you to do?" The woman is clearly breathless as she whispers to you.

You nod.

"My cousin and I," she nods at the ghost you shooed away, "we are slaves of the Governor. He took our freedom years ago and locked it up in a bottle. He keeps the bottle in a cabinet that is locked."

Her eyes grow misty as she looks at you, completely under your control. "Will you help us? You're the only one who can get inside his room."

Damn, I am starting to feel like bond without the gadgets. Or is it more like Capt. Kirk? He always ended up with alien chicks. I am sure he would not care if the girl was a ghost.

You're one smooth criminal... Wink

T.V.'s reply to my last turn:

Quote:
Conflicted, you choose the ghost over the rare flower, and you pluck the stem from the soil.
From your palm, you feel an excited wave of warmth and joy. This was the right decision.
Miraculously, the flower does not begin to wilt, though you hold it between your fingers for several minutes, examining its beauty. In fact, it seems to thrive this close to the church whether it is attached to its roots or not.
You place it inside the handle's carving.
A soft murmur comes from within the church. It sounds like the purring of a cat or the sleeping of a baby. The flower begins to glow and then gels into the handle, forming a solid that resembles precious gemstones.
You tug the handle.
You tug again.
Nothing happens. It is still locked tight. There must be something else you need.

My reply:

Quote:
Panicking, I look at the dust mite in my palm. Getting no help, I start frantically searching the door, running my free hand all over it as I look for depressions, secret levers, anything to help me figure out how to open this door...

By the way, it looks like you are carrying around the ghost of Priestess Nests. She's ghost of the week:

I think there are others playing the game but they are just not posting here. Don't know why. I did not apply fast enough and found what looked like the back door in to the game.

Hey FSURobbie: GO UCF KNIGHTS!!! Cool

No response from TV today for me, odd...

Okay, I was invited to an open house a few days ago. I'll post what has happened so far...

to me:

A house has opened, and you are next in line! You are in a musty room, standing on concrete. In front of you is a heavy door. To your left is an old, dusty chair. To your right is a kitchen table large enough for four, with no chairs. On the right wall are a sink and one cabinet. On the back wall are a gas oven and two faded spots where pictures used to hang. On the left wall are a twin-sized bed, a nightstand with a burnt-out candle, and a wooden dresser.

You notice that some numbers are carved into the heavy door.

01010111 01100101 01101100 01100011 01101111 01101101 01100101 00100000 01110100 01101111 00100000 01010100 01110010 01100001 01101110 01110011 01101001 01110100 01101001 01101111 01101110 00100000 01010110 01101001 01101100 01101100 01100001 01100111 01100101 00100001 00100000 01010100 01101000 01101001 01110011 00100000 01101001 01110011 00100000 01110100 01101000 01100101 00100000 01100001 01100010 01100001 01101110 01100100 01101111 01101110 01100101 01100100 00100000 01000111 01110010 01101111 01110101 01101110 01100100 01110011 01101011 01100101 01100101 01110000 01100101 01110010 00100111 01110011 00100000 01001000 01101111 01110101 01110011 01100101 00101110 00100000 01011001 01101111 01110101 00100000 01101000 01100001 01110110 01100101 00100000 01100001 00100000 01110000 01110101 01110010 01110000 01101111 01110011 01100101 00100000 01101000 01100101 01110010 01100101 00111011 00100000 01110100 01110010 01111001 00100000 01110100 01101111 00100000 01100110 01101001 01100111 01110101 01110010 01100101 00100000 01101111 01110101 01110100 00100000 01110111 01101000 01100001 01110100 00100000 01101001 01110100 00100000 01101001 01110011 00101110 00100000 01010100 01101000 01100101 01110010 01100101 00100000 01100001 01110010 01100101 00100000 01100111 01101000 01101111 01110011 01110100 01110011 00101100 00100000 01110011 01101111 00100000 01110011 01110100 01100001 01111001 00100000 01101111 01101110 00100000 01100111 01110101 01100001 01110010 01100100 00101110 00100000 01001001 01100110 00100000 01111001 01101111 01110101 00100000 01110011 01100101 01100101 00100000 01101111 01110100 01101000 01100101 01110010 00100000 01110100 01110010 01100001 01110110 01100101 01101100 01100101 01110010 01110011 00100000 01100001 01101100 01101111 01101110 01100111 00100000 01110100 01101000 01100101 00100000 01110111 01100001 01111001 00101100 00100000 01100010 01100101 00100000 01110011 01110101 01110010 01100101 00100000 01110100 01101111 00100000 01110011 01100001 01111001 00100000 01101000 01100101 01101100 01101100 01101111 00100001 00100000 01000001 01101110 01111001 00100000 01100011 01101000 01100001 01101110 01100111 01100101 01110011 00100000 01111001 01101111 01110101 00100000 01101101 01100001 01101011 01100101 00100000 01110100 01101111 00100000 01110100 01101000 01100101 00100000 01110100 01101111 01110111 01101110 00100000 01100001 01110010 01100101 00100000 01110000 01100101 01110010 01101101 01100001 01101110 01100101 01101110 01110100 00100000 01110101 01101110 01110100 01101001 01101100 00100000 01110011 01101111 01101101 01100101 01101111 01101110 01100101 00100000 01100101 01101100 01110011 01100101 00100000 01100011 01101000 01100001 01101110 01100111 01100101 01110011 00100000 01110100 01101000 01100101 01101101 00101100 00100000 01110011 01101111 00100000 01110000 01101100 01100101 01100001 01110011 01100101 00100000 01100010 01100101 00100000 01100011 01101111 01101110 01110011 01101001 01100100 01100101 01110010 01100001 01110100 01100101 00101110 00101110 00101110 00100000 01100001 01101110 01100100 00100000 01100011 01100001 01110010 01100101 01100110 01110101 01101100 00101110

There is a large, lumbering ghost, kneeling down at the old, dusty chair."

Reply:

I slowly approach the cabinet, careful to not make any noise.

I open it.

to me:

You walk very quietly over to the cabinet, careful to not bother the ghost who is searching for something under the chair, and find that the door to the cabinet is open. On the inside of the cabinet door is a picture that someone has scratched into the wood.

The picture shows a man with a shovel digging in the shadow of a large building.

You aren't sure what to make of it.

Inside the cabinet is a love letter.

"What is this? A life bead! You little…" the ghost stands up and faces you. "What have you done with him? You're hiding him!" Slowly, the hulking ghost beings to lumber your way.

Reply:

I try to stop the ghost by reciting the love letter, which must have been written by the person to whom the ghost refers.

to me:

You snatch the love letter from the cabinet and instantly begin reading aloud.

"My dearest love," it says. The hulking ghost continues toward you.

"I must leave. The villagers do not accept me any longer. When I am finally able to live among your people as a natural citizen, I will return. Meet me in our church, and bring this letter with you. We will be together again one day."

You look up from the letter to see the ghost standing still. He snarls. "She's going to meet him????" With a lunge, he jumps at you, but he stumbles. For one moment, you have an advantage.

Reply:

Quickly, I grab the life bead from his hand in an attempt to protect myself.

to me:

You reach into his hand as he falls and snatch the life bead out. This only seems to enrage him more, and he comes stumbling forward, arms outstretched, as you back up into a corner.

Suddenly, there is a knock at the door. You both freeze in your places. Who could be knocking?

Without a response from either of you, the door swings open. Standing there is another living person. She holds a reporter's notebook and seems very pleasant.

"Hello," she says. "I am sorry to interrupt, but would you happen to be KWool?"

You nod. The hulking ghost seems confused.

"Wonderful," the woman says. "I'm Jan Smoulter. I wanted to come thank you personally for commenting on our newspaper. The Governor has asked that anyone who participates in the Transition Times get special attention from the rest of us here. You are our first poster. In celebration of your insightful activity, I have come to help you."

She waves her reporter's notebook in the air, and instantly, the ghost in the room begins to vanish. He yells out in anger, but within seconds he is completely gone.

"Now that that has been taken care of," she says with a smile, "I'd like to request your nomination. We're holding our annual festival next week, and we'll need to crown a king and queen. We normally like to crown important visitors rather than residents. Is there anyone you know of who should be king or queen of the festival? Or, perhaps you would like to enter yourself?"

Reply:

"Thanks for your help," I say. "Let's see... for nominations... hmmm. I think I would like to nominate Robbie (FSURobbie) as king. Unfortunately, I have no one to nominate for queen. I'm excited for the festivities!"

I guess I'm not as wordy as some, lol, but it works. I'm really enjoying this... especially the love letter... that has me interested. It must be what is referenced here: http://transitiontimes.wordpress.com/2009/06/11/ghost-of-the-week-3/

I like to have information before I jump.
Quote:
Still looking longingly in to her eyes. "So tell me my dear. What is your name? Does it match you beauty? Also you must tell me what hanus offense you committed to cause the governor to treat you in such a manor?" Jokingly I smile in my friendly charming way. "Don't lie to me. Remember I can see right through you."

It would seem I made someone impatient.
Quote:
"There's no time," her cousin says, interrupting your exchange. "The master will be back soon, and he will notice you have been in his locked cabinet Here, take this." He hands you a vial of golden liquid. "Drink it now. You'll be able to get into his cabinet undetected for ten minutes. Bring what you find back to us, and we'll make our escape."

well, I just wait if something happens in my house.. and here we are..

Quote:

Maybe I should try to climb on that statue, to get, what he holds in his hand.
Looking for some way, to reach the top, I continue to ask if someone can hear me.
"Hello, still nobody out there, can't somebody hear me?"

~

You try to climb the statue from the bottom, but you keep slipping back down. The hand you want to reach is reaching out to the statue's right side, near the banister of the stairs.
Calling out for assistance, you see no one, but you hear your laundress downstairs. "I'm down here, dear. Do you have the clothes?"

~

Damn it, I knew, I should have taken the climb lesson, when I was in school.
For now I let that matter rest and take the stairs down, to finally meet the laundress.
"Yes my dear, I carry everything with me!"

~

You give up on trying to climb the statue and instead head downstairs. The laundress ghost meets you on the landing and talks with you there. "Well, then, let me see your work," she says.
You hand her the plans for the new clothes. "My, my," she says. "What lovely drawings. I was lucky to meet you! Now, I'll be able to make all these adjustments in time for the festival. All I need from you is my golden thimble and some sewing needles. Do you think you can find them for me? It might be best to ask some of your friends if you have any trouble."

any of you an idea where to find hu ;D

Oh, snap Laughing ...got this email today.

Quote:
The Governor is very impressed with your abilities. He is currently assembling a team of pet-finders and would like to see visual proof of your experience before making his final decision. Thank you for applying to work in Transition Village.

My original message to him:

Quote:
Dear sir or madam,

I am inquiring about the ad in the Transition Times. It says you are in need of a "Talented traveler to help find the Governor's lost pets."

I believe I can fill this role. I am an adamant traveler, and experienced in handling a wide variety of animals. My skills are rather...unique. I do not claim to be able to speak to animals, but I find that I often calm them to a state of submissiveness, thus making them easier to capture and handle. It is beyond me as to why this happens, but several years of traveling abroad has helped me focus this skill into, at the very least, a practical application.

What I think you would find most intriguing is that this skill applies not only to conventional animals, but to those who have passed onto the next plain of existence. I have heard that the Governor presides over a rather unique village. I believe that such a job as I am applying for would call for unconventional methods.

You can be certain I would treat the Governor's pets with the utmost care and respect, as if they were my own. I am willing to relocate, and I would gladly be at the Governor's call for whatever situation should arise.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

-Merc

Wow, looks like I'm in. Or will be, should I pass the final test. Looks like I'm part of a GROUP of pet catchers. Problem now is providing "visual proof". Hmm...I'm not sure what to do here. Question

Darn. I sent in a similar email not too long ago. Didn't get the message you did. Guess I'm not in. I'm still lurking, though.

Time to throw a quick website together, I suppose. Having never done so before, it could be a challenge, but I'll find something...being resourceful seems to be a staple of this ARG.

Edit: Okay, got a website going, putting some touches on it. I've decided to include an EVP of a cat or a dog, a scan of a hand-written letter from someone who was happy with my services, and a picture or two of paranormal pets. Should be enough to please the butler and the Governor.

By the way, it looks like you are carrying around the ghost of Priestess Nests.

You know, I think you're right, thanks for the info!

Hey folks,

Here's TV's reply to my last action:
Quote:
You search frantically all over the door for a clue. The dust in your hand offers no help but to stay soothingly warm. Its warmth doesn't console you this time, though, as you are still trapped outside. You have no idea when the hulking ghost will return for a fight.
Then you find it. There is a mail slot concealed within the wood of the door, just large enough for a thin love letter…

My action for today:
Quote:
"Oh you've got to be kidding..." I yell out in frustration. Leaning my head against the door and closing my eyes I sit there for a minute or two, just breathing, before knocking my head on the door a couple of times out of anger.

I open my hand and look down on the tiny ball of glowing light.

"I don't suppose you have any love letters or anything laying around do you?"

I'm one of them too.

The Governor is interested in learning more about your abilities. He is currently assembling a team of pet-finders and would like to see visual proof of your experience before making his final decision. Thank you for applying to work in Transition Village.

Here is my "proof."

Visual proof. Hmmm. Not sure how I can do that, however, I WILL tell you two things that happened to me concerning lost pets. Perhaps you can consider reading this email as visual proof.

Several years ago I had a dog who took every opportunity to make a break for it. People would call and tell me they had my dog in their yard and by the time I got there he had already broken out. One time, he went missing for several days. Not knowing what else to do I decided to go to the shelters and see if any of them had him. For some reason I began at the shelter farthest from my home. It is about 22 miles away. I went in to see the captured dogs and guess who set up a bark and whine? My missing dog. He was a day away from being put down due to no one claiming him.

Unfortunately he succumbed to cancer two years later but he's still in my house. I hear him every once in a while. He used to sleep on the landing of the staircase. You would be surprised at the number of visiting cats and dogs who started up the stairs only to stop in their tracks and stare at the landing.

Six or seven years ago I had a dream. In the dream, the next door neighbor's house was having a problem and they asked if I could keep their cat in my house until it got sorted out. When they came to get their cat no one could find her. I "got a feeling" and walked over to one of the couches. I lifted it up by one end and there was the missing cat.

Many months later the neighbors house caught fire. Everyone got out all right, but while the firefighters were putting out the blaze the neighbors asked if their cat could stay in our house until things settled down. Sure enough, when they came to retrieve the cat she was no where to be found. Then I got an idea and lifted up one of the couches and there she was. I had forgotten about the dream until my wife later reminded me. All I could say at the time was "woh."

I have other true stories as well if you need more evidence.

Thank you for your consideration,
WolfHawk

They really happened, too.

Ok, my move first. After all they seem to be pushing me to move along without getting my answers.

"What the hell." After all I am an adventurer not a duster. I give them both a cool stare as I down the vile of sweet honey while grabbing a scalpel form the table to use as a tool. I then stride right through the door, no longer needing to knock. My new friends having already disabled the alarm

Their reply.

You enter the Governor's bedroom. It is dark and palatial and smells of tobacco from a pipe. There are many cabinets lining the walls: some as high as the ceiling, some as low as the floor. Near the bed (an enormous four-poster) you see a small cabinet with a lock on it.
