I listened a couple of times. It sounded like SOS, but it's hard to hear in this room.

Good job AUZ! Also, got this email from thegatekeeper:

Hanging on a spot.

EDIT: Another email

BTW, the subject of the emails was THEDARTNET, the username might be something about that, becuase of the line "Subject in a mirror", but the username isn't THEDARTNET backwards, I tried.

Also, I don't know whether to use

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
rest or therest for the password, I've seen the painting called both

"Subject on a mirror" suggests using THEDARTNET backwards, but what is meant with "hanging on a spot" and especially with "The line matters"? Which line?

ETA (EDIT TO ASK Wink:
After I completed the painting puzzle nothing happens and the countdown continued leading to a restart of the puzzle. Anyone got a more successful behaviour?

Nope, that's the same thing that I got, the timer just kept going.

Also, new email from thegatekeeper:

The spot with a glob.

The glob is mixed.

edit: yay for find

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Username: RodgerDartmoor
Password: rest

leads to an email conversation between Samson and Rodger:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
From: Rodger Dartmoor <rodger>
To: Samson Roberts <samson>
Subject: Security Hole

I'm in Chicago... "aquiring" some new hardware. What's the security hole?

From: Samson Roberts <samson>
To: Rodger Dartmoor <rodger>
Subject: Re: Security Hole

Well, it's with the locked page. It seems that some outsiders have gotten in. I don't know how they got the URL or the passwords, though.

From: Rodger Dartmoor <rodger>
To: Samson Roberts <samson>
Subject: Re: Re: Security Hole

Shoot. I've looked around the logs and Twitter, and I've discovered that the passwords were given away in the game, and the URL was given to them by that agent, Johnson.

What did they get? Did they get into... "it"?

From: Samson Roberts <samson>
To: Rodger Dartmoor <rodger>
Subject: Re: Re: Re: Security Hole

No, they didn't get into "it". But they did make off with the action diagram and the project description. Luckily, the project description had an error saving and was incomplete.

From: Rodger Dartmoor <rodger>
To: Samson Roberts <samson>
Subject: Re: Re: Re: Re: Security Hole

Grr. Why the heck did MARK-G give them the passwords?!?

From: Samson Roberts <samson>
To: Rodger Dartmoor <rodger>
Subject: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Security Hole

I don't know. I, um, I've been thinking about what those guys said in that chat. What if we really are losing control of it? It's not done parsing the data yet, so we could still shut it down...

From: Rodger Dartmoor <rodger>
To: Samson Roberts <samson>
Subject: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Security Hole

Get ahold of yourself, Samson. We aren't losing control of it. We don't need to shut it down. And we won't. We've worked too long and too hard to give up now.

It was probably just some misfed data, or some glitch like that. Don't worry about it.

Wow, great find punkymonkey! Very interesting.

Now that we know their email addresses, I wonder if we should try emailing them.

Nice work, punkymonkey! RAD24, it may help drive the wedge further between Samson and Rodger if we email Samson.

BTW, I tweeted Alex that Rodger was in Chicago and that we'd 'retrieved' an email from him.

Cool, good thinking.

EDIT: New tweet from Rodger:

Quote:
What the... who put a password on the website?!?

Pretty obvious who (or should I say what) did it, but they still refuse to believe that Mark-G is "ahead of schedule" Laughing

Another message was in Rodger's recycle bin in binary. Decoded, it reads:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):

From: Park Hyatt Chicago communications.chiphSPLAThyatt.com
To: Rodger Dartmoor rodgerSPLATminishout.us.to
Subject: Your Reservation

Dear Sir or Madam,

Your reservation have been recieved. You will be staying in Room 401. You can pick up your key on check-in. Please note that photo ID will be required. Further information will be made available to you shortly.

I tweeted Alex Johnson to let him know.

been some new updates on Rodger's blogspot

Friday, July 10, 2009
Ha!

I got my password back! And, I've added a few extra safeguards to MARK-G, just in case. Even though I know there's no way it was the cause of this, it never hurts to be safe. Now to figure out what's with the website...

Website

Hm, seems that somehow the web root directory setting in the server's config file got switched to my Recycle Bin. Must have been a glitch or something. That explains why it has a password thing: it needed the password for my account to access the files. Weird. Will fix it shortly.

Window

What the... As I turned my head, I glanced out the window, and I could have sworn that I saw someone looking in at me, but when I looked again, no one was there.

New tweet from Alex Johnson:

EDIT:

And another:

Quote:
enigmaticulous Rodger Dartmoor is now being held in the Chicago State Prison for questioning.

I asked Alex Johnson if Rodger escaped and if the Dartnet was still active. He responded:

Quote:
enigmaticulous SEE THE AUTHOR.

EDIT: The post is authored by MARK-G. Looks like the supercomputer has come onto the playing field.
