Yet another ARG research project
Case Study on ARGs and Collective intelligence

I am a graduate researcher at the University of Texas-Austin's Digital Writing and Research Lab (www.cwrl.utexas.edu), and I am interested in ARGs and their power to create collective intelligence to solve complex problems.

I've already posted in The Sect is Here forum, and have given players the chance to opt out of the study if they wish. What I'm really interested in getting from some players is a game journal documenting their experiences making connections with others to solve problems.

If you're interested in keeping such a journal, you can email me at scottnelsonSPLATmail.utexas.edu

If you've got suggestions, please post them here.

I need to create some kind of macro for this response...

...the single best reference you're ever gonna find is:

eta: you don't need players to keep a journal, you've got the boards! They're a goldmine. Also, offhand, you'd probably be interested in the books of Vernor Vinge.

Also, the post

and related comments may be useful.

DRAWL,

I would highly suggest that you look at people's favorite games and then go back and look at the boards. Some of the awesomest games are now in the Archived section so you might have to read some stuff there but there's nothing better than reading page 1 of a thread that you know became a huge thing and reading people pondering if this weird website/call/text/etc is an ARG or not. Smile
