The picture of Norene in her office on the blog. Has anyone checked it for a hidden message?

Just looking at the picture, the image on the top left is the same one that's on the first page of the Linian site. But I haven't checked to see if there's anything hidden in the pic.

There's lots of stuff to look into, which I'm doing at the moment. However the blogs haven't been updated since May and I'm not sure if this is still active. I contacted Lyman Emery on facebook and asked if he has heard anything from Rand. At least he replied that he hasn't.
Rand has now updated his blog:

Good lord — we're back, but I am at a loss to explain what happened. According to my observations, much more time has elapsed here than we experienced. Must try to understand…perhaps Mr. Emery can help.
(Meta - Looks like they were just waiting for all this to be discovered.)

The model on her desk also appears to be like the one on the Cognomi Exhibit page.

Too bad, I was so looking forward to find out how the bananas and mice fit in.
Rand's back on facebook, too, and accepted my friend-request.

I'm struggling with the fact that I've lost weeks, and I don't know how. The ship we saw approaching Sturge Island seems to have come and gone in the interim. The cave seems unchanged, and still a warm refuge.

I was wondering if it was stegged? Anyone check?

Its hard to make out, but i THINK that the ball and stick model on her shelf is a model of the map that Rand found.
As for clue one: a visualization that might help:

Also I'm not sure but this may help in some way

Actually I think the one her desk has 8 connectors, the one on the Cognomi Exhibit page only has seven. The eighth one is white, and is behind and just below the top brown one.

Sorry for the double post. Both The Society for Linian Studies and The Benjamin Smyth Antartic Institute have facebook pages. The facebook account for Linian Studies has a photo album with photos of the Cognomi Exhibit.

I am so frustrated with this clue (but in a good way). It feels like the answer is on the tip of my tounge. If there were not that blank on the bottom, I would try a strip transposition cipher and I've given up on the Boggle strategy although I do think it is an anagram.
Lots o' Ns, Os, Rs, and Es in there. Could one of the words be "Norene"?

I see Norene, notes/footnotes, read. I was wondering if there was something at the Cognomi Exhibit that included notes made be Norene.

Here I go double posting again. I sent an email to Daniel Cooper at the Society for Linian Studies, inquiring about the exhibit. I was fishing for contents of the exhibit hoping it included some of Norene's notes. I sent this before I discovered their FaceBook page with the exhibit photos.

Dear Mr. Cooper,
I'm wondering if the Cognomi Exhibit is still open in Los Angeles and do you have any brochures available explaining what it contains? In fact pictures of the display would be great. Thank you for your time.
Daniel Cooper wrote:
Thank you for your interest in the Society for Linian Studies. Our Los Angeles exhibit will be open to public until August 16, 2009, every Fri-Sun from 12-6pm.
Due to pending litigation with the Benjamin Smyth Antarctic Institute, I regret that I am unable to disseminate any of the exhibit's content.
We hope that you will visit the exhibit if you are in the Los Angeles area. If not, we hope to have an online version of the exhibit up as soon as our legal matters are settled.
Thank you.

I'm still struggling with the first clue. Using Saint Cad's and exanor's discoveries the best I get is 'Norene erased in footnotes' or 'in Norenes erased footnote'
My browser seems to have problems with the slide show on Norene's site and won't load it. Is there something interesting?

The slideshow has never loaded for me either.
