So Fritz has posted a comment on his blog, suggesting that Norene may have left a book, or whatever, in the Riverside Branch library in the 998 or 999 section. I was looking for a book in the NYPL catalog that matched those numbers thinking she would have hidden something "inside" a library book. Of course my results were nil. I guess if Norene left it there, it wouldn't show up in their catalog.

It looks like we'll have to wait until Monday, Riverside Branch is closed on Sundays. Jason, aren't you in NYC? Do you think you can check it out? I'm also going to send a message to Rose.

The back cover being numbered (is this unusual?) indicates the amount of missing pages. Will other libraries/cities be involved? Probably will need more info to locate exact hiding place(s). Libraries are huge places, unless you know where to look. And a book (or tape?) left conceivably undisturbed after all these years.........

I'll let Fritz know that you'll try to get there later today. If you think you'll want help, or just someone to talk to while you look, let me know and I'll PM you my phone number.

ETA* I sent my transcriptions to Daniel this morning and hinted that there might be something more to Norene's notebook than meets the eye. The reply I got was from Lyman Emery, telling me that Daniel was out of the office. I'm thinking Daniel may be on his way to NYC and could be working for the BSAI. In fact I guess he could be Fritz and we've just given him the location to Norene's hidden cache. I'll post the email when GMail comes back online.

So Jason, what's the progress on getting to the Library?

Also, new email from Fritz:

Hey everybody,
I had to contact you. Something's wrong. Lyman just came in questioning me, saying something weird is going on with the research assistants. I don't know how he found out or why he came to me. I played dumb, he still doesn't know I'm involved. If he finds out, he's not going to be happy that I went behind his back or that I stole Norene's poems. Thank god Daniel is out today, hopefully I can smooth this over before he gets back tomorrow. I think he's been looking for a reason to get rid of me.

Lyman seemed to think this is connected to some threatening emails he's been receiving. Not sure what he's talking about, but couldn't really press him on it, given my situation. I'm going to look into it. More soon.

Success!!

Rose found it!!! She found a handmade book marked 999 Z 999 on the shelf behind a book called "The Voyage of the Snark".

Inside the back cover was a library card holder, inside it was a key marked "USPS 1784" and a card with a poem on it:

Quote:
How many cloaked in green?
How many stars in the sky?

How many birds in the trees?
How many pairs of blue eyes?

How many years till the end?
How many hours on the clock?

The answers will tell you where the key meets the lock.

I think she telling us the answers will be found with the BSAI. They do have a "green" group.

When we figure it out, Rose will try to get to the Post Office.

Big thanks to Rose!

ETA* Not so sure about the answers being found with BSAI, maybe there's more in one of her other notebooks. Dunno

Thank you so much, rose!

Fritz replied to your comment, enaxor. Good call on the answers being in another notebook.

Amazing! I knew we were right. Alas, we're met with yet more questions. Still it's a wonderful affirmation of our efforts.

I think you're right. The answers must be in the other notebook. As I recall it was filled with newspaper clippings and photos related to the BSAI.

Daniel is still out, but he just called saying he's coming in later today. I'll see if I can sneak into his office, scan the notebook and replace it before he gets back.

Any way we can get scans of the materials recovered at the library? I'd like to analyze them if possible.

This is what I got:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
3 people wearing green coats
8 stars marked on the time lapse picture (although there are 3 stars in the red flag picture so that may be it too)
0 birds in the blasted trees
9 pairs of i's (total of 18 i's in the poem, divided by 2)
6 years left until the new research facility is completed
3 hours on the clock in the photo of the two guys sitting in front of that fancy state of the art computer.

The lines in the clue are paired up, so how about: 38 09 63
