I feel like MH is way to disconnected from Fringe for it to be a tie-in, though I won't deny that the Observer and SM do bear some similar qualities. The Observer has a face though, and SM doesn't really seem to have that going for him.

Must have been tough growing up for poor little SM.

Someone asked about Brian's closeness with Alex, and if they'd cared enough, I have already covered it. I asked J over youtube just how close Brian and Alex were, it could determine just how involved in this Brian was.

J said it was a remarkable idea [probably because it was his], and that he was already determined to find out.

For the record, hi that would be me, I'm the one that cared enough. I also read through this entire thread over the course of a few hours so forgive me for not recalling one particular post. I give you full and complete intellectual credit for said idea and shall stand by quietly to see how it unfolds. My mistake.

Yeah, you'd better just stand there, HouseOfLeaves! How DARE you try to take credit for an idea when we all know TNC comes up with all the ideas on this board? You should be flogged for saying something that TNC might have already said or in reference to something TNC might have said.

Truly, we'd all be blind without his guiding light. If you don't believe me, just ask him. Or better yet, imply that we're not blind without his guiding light and wait for him to snap at you about it.

With all due respect, HouseOfLeaves, I hope you've learned your lesson and will shut up so TNC can just tell us everything that happens and why everyone else in the world is stupid. For shame!

Well, you patronizing little bug, I hope you've had your fun.

I wasn't trying to insult anyone, I was just trying to tell you it had been covered. Not because you "stole my idea" or whatever, but because the post I was referring to had not known whether it had been covered. If I'm not mistaken, your post said it "may or may not have been covered." No one seem to give you a direct answer as to whether it had or hadn't, so I thought I'd mention it. No big deal. Besides, it wasn't my idea, it was J's, like I already said.

@ "TNC FAN": You should be ashamed of yourself.

I'm not in this for any kind of intellectual gratification. I don't need some blathering doof to give me respect for my "guiding light." Quite frankly, most of my leads have turned out to be dead ends. So, before you get all uppity and decide to anonymously begin heckling me indirectly, take a few seconds to compose yourself and remember that you're too much of a faggot to confront me directly.

If you think you're the first to try and insult me, you're wrong. I've received a plethora of e-mails calling me a gamejacker, a moron, and an undeserving twat for the jafool blog. When really, all I did was make the mistake of posting my e-mail. So, before you make the mistake of anonymously screwing with me, squeeze your eyes shut and imagine what a five-foot-seven man can do to you with a nine-iron while you sleep, and fuck the hell off.

Okay, let's not get into a flame war here.

I did not read TNC FAN's post to be any sort of heckling, really. TNC has never come across to me as egocentric or anything, so I just saw the TNC FAN post as harmless. I think he was more poking fun at HouseOfLeaves' drawn out apology, than anything else. It honestly gave me a little chuckle, and I didn't read into it as any sort of insult.

Also, just as a guideline: If you miss something that's been covered in the trailhead, and someone points out that it's been covered, just move on. No harm done, no flame wars, just innocent investigating.

And if someone else says something that's been mentioned, just tell them politely it's been mentioned before. The trailhead is gigantic--it's not unreasonable to forget or miss something that's been covered.

I think that's reasonable, anyway. So, how about them Slenderman, huh? Very Happy

$5 says that was Lifegospeljacker as well.

No matter, no matter. It seems we have a slight downpour in the southeast and a the slenderman in the Southern part of the city.

Finished this behemoth of a thread a couple days ago, caught up on all the side stories, info etc... and just thought I'd take a moment to get the bulk of my thoughts out in one introductory post.

tl;dr, hello here are my theories, disregard at will.

If any particular tidbit of info has slipped my mind or been misinterpreted, my apolgies.

1) Totheark is Alex:

While I'm not to ruling it completely, I'm feeling doubtful of this theory. Particularly because of the footage in EXIT. In all honesty, none of the arguments for Alex sneaking around and filming J hold up particularily well, and I think part of the point of the video is demonstrating that Totheark is an invovled third party (as well as confirming it's canon status).

2) Audio in Totheark's videos is missing audio from Alex's mute tapes.

While there could be exceptions, I think this theory holds a lot of weight, and I personally ascribe to it. That said, I'm quite certain at least some of the tracks, as well as being heavily edited, distorted, and compressed, are back masked. Since my skills in audio-editing aren't too impressive, I've been sincerely hoping someone would continue to work with the audio and try and sync it up to some of the audio-less entries.

That said, if I find the time, I will try, but I can't promise anything resembling useful results.

3) J is a schizophrenic.

No. Just...no.

4) J is deliberately misleading us.

While I'm certain he may be holding back a bit of information, I think anything he is holding back is mainly concerned with is own physical and mental state in the face of his discoveries relating to Alex. However, I don't think he's misleading us in any significant way.

In regards to Totheark's comment, I think he/she/it was implying that J cannot be trusted do to human fallibility.

Also, I do not think this rules out Ark being inhuman either, as he/she could be referring to their own fallibility as well.

5) Slenderman is Totheark.

The idea of Slenderman sitting down at the computer is, quite frankly, not scary. Anything that so blatantly makes Slenderman that much less scary and enigmatic, I think, is highly unlikely.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Cleary the makers of MarbleHornets have demonstrated a fairly sturdy grasp of good horror. They wouldn't ruin that by making Slenderman so overtly human in nature or action. He's supposed to be, in a vaguely Lovecraftian sense, beyond our understanding, and beyond caring if we understand.

6) Ark = Alex J. Kralie.

So far we havn't seen any reference to a middle name. However AlexandeR Krailie. I'm far from convinced that this theory is correct, but I'm certainly not going to dismiss it at this juncture.

7) Alex/J are mind-controlled puppets of Slenderman.

I don't think so. Like I said above about Slenderman's enigmatic-ness, I don't think he/it is a creature that hatches elaborate puppet-master mind control schemes. It's just, honestly, not that creepy or interesting.

That said, I do think Slenderman exudes some sort of empathic energy, and combined with his surreal appearance has a profound effect on the psyches of those he stalks (or even those who see him on tape.).

Basically, I think what Slenderman does at most is taunt and torture his victims semi-psychically, and any "hypnotic" behaviour isn't so much mind control as it is a Deer in the Headlights reaction to Slenderman's inherently disturbing and unnatural nature.

Cool Slenderman is summoned or controlled by another.

I doubt it. This isn't Buffy the Vampire Slayer here.

Anyways, that pretty much sums it up for now, I look forward to speaking to you all and participating further as this mystery is unravelled. [/spoiler]

I do quite enjoy the "Deer in the Headlights" bit, because only one or two of the backstories created for Slenderman involve mind control; However, being Surge's original drawing of the children walking towards the camera with the caption somewhere along the lines of "he made us do it," it can't be completely outruled; Though, in the other account of Slender Man hypnotism, it's more or less his branch-like arms beckoning to it's victims to walk forward and be impaled on his limbs.

I do feel this is a pretty accurate summary of the currently presented theories, good show.

Somewhere around here, I don't remember where, someone matched up the audio from either Operator or Regards, and told us that it seemed to sync up rather well with Entry 13. Which I find incredibly well-thought-out, especially with totheark's comments of "Operator belongs to others," and whatever the devil he said about Regards, I can't remember.

My bad, guess I took it the wrong way a bit--one of the downsides to only reading text, versus face-to-face interaction, eh?

Actually, HOL, a lot of what you said made sense. To springboard off of your last sentence, to me, text-only summaries do help me in NOT having to go through the entire trailhead again and again when I forget something.

I wonder if we should try linking this more to the Just Another Fool blog.

First of, has anyone attempted to bring it to J's attention?

I've got this wild theory, it may be BS but I felt like mentioning it.

There's another theory that's been bouncing around here, and it states that SM is tied to those particular woods, or at least something in them (The red wall? The building?).

Therefore, I think we should try and find out if Matt lived in the same location as J and Alex, or, more likely, someone from Matt's platoon. It'd be tough to do, as J doesn't want his location known, but maybe we should ask him if anyone near him deployed to Iraq?

In my head, I'm imagining Matt or someone in his platoon is from J's area, he also found or disturbed something in the woods, and SM was willing to follow him/her to Iraq and just slash and burn the entire platoon to keep whatever it was a secret.

Actually, Matt never gave any hints of encountering SM before Iraq, and there's been hints that it was someone else in the platoon researching him. So I'm thinking it was someone other than him, and Matt was just unlucky enough to survive the slash-and-burn attempt.

So basically, we also should ask J if anyone in his area DIED in Iraq.

I'm going to claim ignorance here, what's the best way to get in touch with J? I'll do it myself if no one here wants to.

But before I do, what's anyone here think of that?
