01010000 01100000 01110000 10000000 10010000 00000001

translates into hex as:

00 10 20 30 40 50 60 70 80 90 01

Using your method, PROGRAM changes to:
4A 8 8C 8
4A 8 8C 8
4A 8 8C 8

Hey. I am not a tech type guy. Since I can't rip audio and visual apart like most of you, I'm stuck looking for other clues. I feel like we might be missing something obvious from what we already have. Advocate got me thinking, and I want to have the dialog from each video where it is available.

I transcribed already transcribed Entry #5, and I don't wanted to clutter the trailhead. If you are interested you can read the dialog here: http://mhtranscripts.blogspot.com/

I'll just keep doing them as I have time and will ultimately put them in order. Hope this helps. I thought it was interesting to pinpoint when the visual tears and audio distortion happen during dialog, maybe it will get someone thinking.

C

edit: nvm!

Compare it with what we've got here and if there's anything that needs correcting, go ahead and do so.

Awesome. I forgot you did that already, I got wrapped up doing a timeline, then I realized I wanted a transcription... one thing led to another.

I really didn't want to transcribe everything haha!

I've been lurking for quite a while (read the whole trailhead, read through the forum, etc) and I've finally decided to post!

I think we're finally making some progress with deciphering ToT's vids. Turning the numbers sideways seems to be working well.

I could go on about things already discussed in great detail here, but I'd rather introduce some new ideas. I think J's latest Twitter update is a hint that Entry #16 will be more of Alex/SM, since he says he's still "searching" for a lead, so I assume that means he's going through the tapes. Though he'll have to show us something freaky enough to top Entry #14 if that's his plan. Otherwise I suppose he could try getting ahold of Sarah, but I doubt he wants to draw attention to her since I don't think she's important to the story.

In terms of a timeline, this is how I think it goes:

2
[Marble Hornets filming begins]
12
5
13
[Between here and the next brackets, Entry 3 at various points in time]
8/1/6 (all connected)
7
9
11
4/10 (connected)
[Entry 3's clips stop here]
14
15

Really, 8/1/6, 7, 9 and 4/10 are interchangeable since we don't know a lot of the small details. If anyone needs me to elaborate on why I chose this timeline, I'd be more than happy to.

Entry #5 is about location scouting. It's BEFORE MH filming begins. Otherwise I think it's a pretty good timeline.

A bunch of people seem to prefer it, for some reason. It's the first three letters of his name, but I personally prefer TTA, for ToTheArk. >_>

ToT rolls off the tongue easier.

I have a more general question that I've been bouncing around in my head, being somewhat new to this ARG thing. Perhaps it's not a useful question, I'm not sure. But I find myself wondering: let's assume for the moment that (as seems likely) there is hidden content in the videos. Is that content designed to lead us to more pieces of content/game/puzzle, or just be generally entertaining and creepy? For example, we discovered that the pattern of zeroes in Impurity was the right length to spell 'z-e-r-o'. Cool, spooky, interesting, but ultimately kind of a dead end. Or figuring out that the pattern of slashes might spell 'L-O-O-K'. Neat, fun, cool to figure out, but doesn't really lead anywhere. "THERE WAS MORE". "THE OPERATOR".

What we haven't found yet are any clues that really contribute to advancing the story, "keys" if you will to unlocking more content or connecting up the videos with pre-existing content. In the ARGs I've seen, the solution to puzzles is often the key to a new puzzle, or a pointer to something like a website, or a phone number, or a location in the real world that advances the story. Is this kind of clue lurking in the videos and we just haven't found it yet, or is it not really what the PM had in mind?

One reason I ask is because - with a couple of potential important exceptions - the information density doesn't seem to be high enough to support actual keys. Put another way, the puzzles we have in front of us don't seem to have the potential to lead us to other puzzles, even if we do solve them. For example, the code puzzle from Program has 3 sets of 4 repeating glyphs, each of which has 8 binary digits. That means that, even if we figure out the puzzle, we're only going to get a maximum of about 12 digits (and even that is really 3x4 repeating), or a 12-letter word or phrase. Enough to encode something creepy like "DEATH" or "SLENDER". But is it really enough to encode an actual key? A latitude/longitude? Url? Password? I mean, if we somehow extracted a code (say, "YAMAYAMAYAMA") out of it, what would it be a code *to*? We don't have any puzzles that need solving or websites that need to be unlocked.

I guess my point is that if this is, in fact, an ARG, then the G part is hard to see - the Game. So far what we have seems to more fit the Chaotic Fiction mold. And this has consequences: in an ARG, the PM might wait around for us to figure out the current puzzle and "unlock" the content. In Chaotic Fiction, the content will roll out regardless of what we do; there's no point in waiting for us to solve the puzzles because it isn't necessary to advance the story, it's just a kind of window dressing.

Somebody before mentioned that sometimes film students begin filming without knowing all the locations. Did it say for sure in Entry 5 that it was before? If so then I put #5 after #2.
