I´ve found something regading the old wood cut of "Der Ritter" posted by TNC back on Page 105 (EDIT: 107) or so.

http://wikibin.org/articles/slender-man.html

Something on the origin of this picture and a nice romanian folktale.

Not directly linked to MH, but as this picture has been posted in the Trailhead i wanted to keep it in the same thread...

Nice find, that does make it rather interesting.

What I like to point out is, rather than a face-less humanoid in a business suit, he's a skeletal demon in armor when fighting. It also leads to the assumption that he CAN be fought, even if for a little while, by a knight with a sword. Give Alex a gun, he may be able to hold the beast off for even longer.

Now, remember, being a shape-shifter by nature, and, if we're to go with the SA's version of SM, capable of being more than a tree and a man in a business suit. Capable of being ANYTHING. ANYONE. However, there's no evidence that he can actually talk.

I've been playing the Special Edition of Trilby's Notes, and the Tall Man is a violent, less-shapeshifty version of SM, with nicer clothes. However, Yahtzee, the game maker, says that he's not faceless. He wears a mask.

Perhaps SM's face needs to be hidden, as well, or else everyone would know that he looks like the beast in Der Ritten?

He might not need to talk, if he can transmit his thoughts in other ways. The long story at the end regarding the mother killing the rest of her family makes it sound like SM has mind control powers. What makes that terrifying is that you'll see him lurking silently and wonder what he wants, or you'll know what he wants because you're already doing it...

As for the business suit/knight outfit swapping, it makes sense for him to choose the guise of a well-to-do member of society. They already command a degree of respect/control (which is what he wants), and their attire makes them (and him) somewhat inconspicuous. People would be more inclined to follow his orders anyway, and would try not to bother him if they saw him in daylight.

From Victor Surge's original post on SA, both photographers for the images he posted were missing and presumed dead. However, the photographs made it into the hands of the public. So, after a period of time, Slender Man either killed or "disappeared" those who captured his image on film. Alex captured SM on film, and eventually disappeared. Seems like a connection to me.

I'm not really sure that I like the tulpa theory. Well, no, okay, I do, but not in pertinence to Marble Hornets. It's one of those things that I kind of wish actually could happen, yet am a bit dubious that it would. I don't really think that is what the filmmakers had in mind when creating Marble Hornets, though.

I do like the idea that SM is a symbol of some sort. I like to think of him sort of as an angel of death type character, so that fits in with my own ideas, as well as the way the story seems intentionally vague about his connection to Alex. Once we find out why he's following Alex, that is, what he represents, his symbolic quality as it were, we will understand the mystery. There has to be at least an element of that in the story.

SM is basically an expy of the Tall Man, actually. The first picture of SM was created using a fan rendering of the Tall Man, along with a smattering of story elements that Victor Surge found creepy.

Damn, it must be weird for Mr. Surge to have his creation turned into a meme like this. He should be proud.

Man, had the most screwed up dream about SM last night, I'll post a picture of that I saw.

I have read other myths about going insane, disappearing, things of that sort and to me SM seems to be some sort of creature. One that creates a state of madness with its victims and those surrounding. Directly and indirectly, SM seems to have influenced us all with a sort of madness. We all may be victims.

Yeah, I can't say I like the tulpa theme OR the religious themes in accordance to MH, either. I'm just putting out some interesting ideas between video updates.

I think that, in MH, SM will end up being your "average" supernatural entity, out for some unknown vendetta. The references to biblical/psychological symbology are just speculation; I didn't mean for them to be taken as what I think the Slender Man is!

All that I believe is that it could be a symbol from the world's unconscious; so we will have to see! Can't wait.

Well, if I did believe in tulpas, I'd think it would be very cool if that's what we as a community were doing. Think about it, we'd be creating a creature that had something of all of us in it. We'd be immortalised in a way because of that. We are the slender man.

Even so, we are creating something, be it just a larger community by spreading the word, a myth that will last into the future, or even a tulpa.

Kinda makes you feel empowered, doesn't it? This is exactly why I say that SM is my muse.

Heeh, I'm mad about SM. This be truth, Yougottaloseallhope.

Yeah, don't think that I believe that the religious stuff is anything more than it isl. I just remembered that we were sent bible quotes early on via twitter and investigated specific words that have come up in the videos. I just went a different route than some others and that doesn't make any of my thoughs more cromulent than anyone else's. I'm just trying to have fun and hopefully enhance things in my own small way.

Everything is pure, unadultered speculation.

But I do think that the guys and gal(s) making this are smart and that, even if we don't know it yet, we have stumbled upon at least a few red pegs in this game of Battleship. At least I'd like to think so.

It'll just be awhile before we actually can find out.

I had been putting up with the whispering for about an hour the first time I played that game before I realised the effect it was having on my awareness (paranoia). Great isn't it?

Looks like we're to expect another "classic" entry next.

Haha, I never noticed it at first, but it soon came to light. About half-way through I died, forgetting to save XFD, so I played through the whole game with the Author Commentary on it. Yahtzee said that the whispering is just two tracks of him whispering into his microphone, each track saying something different; The first track is him saying plot-spoiling things, such as Trilby's role as the original successor to the Prince, Chzo being a giant eye ball monster, and the Tall Man's original name, as well as conversation that hadn't happened yet.

The other track is his grocery list.

I have to say, 6DAS is my favorite entry in the series. Such an amazing twist at the end, and all the revelations... Plus, the fact that you play as a man crippled by injuries adds greatly to the "scare" factor.

This is me shamelessly plugging the X days a Y series, also known as the "CHZO MYTHOS" games.

The only difference between the Tall Man/Prince and Slender Man would be the Tall Man's spikey-club device. However, they can both teleport, and both have strong ties to wood/trees. Oh, and they can both hypnotize people.

Another difference is Tall Man's assumed death at the hands of the New Prince, but I wont say anything more on that, in case someone does want to pick up this game.

I have an incredibly strong urge to say, "and Alex knew the name of the king." Also, the author commentary says something like, "Father, no." mixed with "I regret the day I brought you into this world." This is in 5 Days A Stranger, not sure about 6, 7 or Notes.
