Y'know with all our double and triple crossing, basically everyone knows everything as soon as we do.

If I were Matthew and Christine (and Dr. Darrell), I'd stop telling us stuff, or I'd start planting misinformation.

Just received an email - Christopher Naip is Matthew's brother - and he's resigned from the Institute.

Quote:
To Whom It May Concern:

It is with my deepest and most profound apologies that I leave the Institute.

Yet it is not a personal apology, but an apology on behalf of the Institute, one long overdue. The lies and deceit of this organization run deep. I can no longer accept an organization that continually lies, cheats, and misleads both professionals and the public merely to increase its dubious credibility.

I have deluded myself long enough. The Institute is a corrupt being, not afraid to stomp on anyone that may get in its way. When the mysterious lab fire occurred, I mourned the loss of my brother. How little did I know that it was actually intentional! Dr. Darrell, how could you do something like this? And now you intend to frame my brother and Christine simply because they're fighting against you?

I know whose side I am on.

Yours truly,
Christopher Naip

Email from Dr. Darrell in response to my warning:
Quote:
Interesting.

I shall make some changes in order to make sure everything goes to plan.

And shortly afterward:
Quote:
Additionally, you may want to look at memo 7132009 on the Institute site. We may need to do something about Christopher as well... he seems like a loose cannon with too much familiarity with the Institute.

The memo:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
I regret to inform all of you that Christopher Naip has left our organization.

However, let it be known that anyone who knowningly support anti-Institute activity will have his/her benefits terminated and will no longer be in good standing with the Institute.

It is unfortunate that Mr. Naip has made this decision. I have a feeling that he may regret it.

During these tumultuous times, I ask that you stay on board with the Institute and help us with our success! We are so close to achieving so much!

FDA approval is just around the corner!

Dr. William Darrell, 7.13.2009, 12:30pm

I can't help but like the bad guy! Very Happy

I've also noticed that, instead of having his name deleted from the staff page, he's been crossed out.

Kinda feels like a gamejack to me, but I guess there is no basis to conclude at this point.

Edit: my bad to doubt either of the naip bros.

Latecomer

Seems I'm a bit late to jump in on this one. I'm new to the ARG scene, but certainly interested. I'll continue following this, and see if I can't get some input via Twitter. Needless to say, I'm intrigued by this game, haha.

Email from Gabriel, we have a new assignment:

Quote:

Good Evening!

As our director of public relations has just resigned, we need to keep up our marketing and public outreach. This is where you come in!

Assignment #2
open to all temporary workers

description: in order to raise awareness of the Institute and its work, you need to market the Institute in two ways: virally and traditionally.

Viral marketing is a key component of the Institute's work. By adding Institute images, references, and links to your social networking pages (on Twitter, Facebook, Myspace, etc.) we can gain considerably more awareness.

Traditional marketing is more physical in scope. By creating and posting Institute flyers, displaying window clings, and wearing stickers, you draw a different type of audience to the Institute.

Your mission is to spread the news and word of the Institute, especially Project Dolor.

If you would like, you can design your own materials; however, I can provide Institute logos and such upon request.

submitting your work: show me where you've marketed virally (via link) and photos showing your traditional marketing.

deadline: there is no deadline for this assignment

Now, go at it!

Technically yours,
Gabriel Lorenzen

I'm inclined to try and make promotional materials that link to both the Institute and (covertly) to Team Opposition. Very Happy

Tweet from Matthew:
Quote:
Read our new blog post and see how you can join our fight!

Blog post:
Quote:
My brother has told me that the Institute is urging its temporary employees to go out and market the goodness of the Institute.

Well, then I say it's time for marketing war!

I urge you to market our cause–that of bringing down the Institute. Show the public the truth and further our fight! We must prevent the Institute's propaganda from deluding the public!

Show us how you're helping by sending us an e-mail at nogainswithoutpainSPLATgmail.com. Market on the Internet and in real life! We have to stop the Institute!

Looks like we're being asked to display our alliances! Just remember, Dr. Darrell is terminating people supporting anti-Institute activity! Twisted Evil

We should come up with a code to put at the bottom of every Institute advertisement that says to support Matt. Very Happy
Maybe morse code, or a Caesar shift?

I think they're asking us to do the making this time. Rather than sending out window clings to everybody interested, we have to make our own form of marketing. I don't suppose that someone is artistically talented enough to create an eye-catching emblem for the anti-Institute side?

Even if I had joined up in time to apply for work, I'd probably be taking Matthew's side on this one. My conscience wouldn't let me get away with joining the Institute! Very Happy

For those on the Institute side, the Institute will give an emailed press kit for those who ask. It's basically different varieties of the Institute logo in PNG and JPEG form (the logo in large and small form, a banner, an image that says "proud supporter of the institute for the future of medicine" as well as that same image flipped, and the address label that has no address) and the press release for Project Dolor (which still has Christopher's name and Institute email address attached).

All right, a not so subtle way to advertise the Institute as both GOOD and EVIL.

Here
