[Trailhead] Escapist Manifesto
mystery box sent to Pete Wentz?

Fall Out Boy bassist recieved a package during the week:

First mention of the package http://petewentz.com/post/145074135/the-strangest-thing-ever-i-am-assuming-this-is-a

Here is the transcript of the letter thanks to Daeld:

Quote:

Dear Friends,

Dear Enemies,

Then document in your possession is a piece from undoubtedly the most
valuable document in the history of mankind.

In 1957, an American research team in Iraq was on the trail of a document they called "earths First Bible". Evidence pointed to the existence of such a work that was man's first written account of God. Luckily, the team found "Earth's First Bible", but unfortunately, there was no way to translate it. In 1958, Iraq became a much more difficult environment, and so research was halted.

Because of recent events, Iraq has once again been opened to research for scientists who are daring enough. A "rosetta stone" of sorts has been discovered to make the translation possible, but there is a catch:

It turns out that "Earth's First Bible", refitted with its proper name of the ESCAPIST MANIFESTO is not a story at all. The ancient scribbling was a form of musical notation. Man's earliest understanding of God could only be expressed in the form of music.

Unfortunately, no one on the team had any knowledge of music, but one man, Ramon Tezanos had a connection. The documents were handed over to his son, a doctor of psychology doing research in a mental institution in South America.

And so, I formally introduce myself. My name is Jason Ramon Tezanos. I've got a very interesting subject by the name of Ian Hinden here. He is a man who is made of anger. Almost as if his very fibers are hewn from hate. I've placed the Escapist Manifesto into his hands to translate.

I have put God into the hands of madmen, where he belongs.

This is a project that may yield some very interesting results. I'm not yet sure what we have wrought. Perhaps we will bring man closer to God than he has ever been. Perhaps we will bring God closer to madness than He has ever known.

If you need anything more, just remember: Pregunta DeLeon.

Sin surely,

Jason Ramon Tezanos

appears to be a social networking page for Ian Hinden, containing another letter.

Quote:
Dear Friends,

Dear Enemies,

Years on, the doctor and I still search for the man made of hate. As I've always said, HateFilledBox is a man whose life style I completely agree with. His ideas work only for the betterment of mankind. With him at society's helm, the world would run at a flawless pace. I want to make him bleed. Revenge is my life force. It is the air I breathe. We should find him soon, as long as that goddamned Narrator doesn't give away our plans.

I pledge this to you: I will find the one they call HateFilledBox. My heart belongs only to him and his destruction.

But now comes 12:34, which is a time very important to the army of the Cynically Depressed. I will make the toast. Raise your glass of poison with me and say:

Follow, follow
'til death and dollop do us part
'Twixt froth and mead
Twain love and heart

Sinsurely,
Ian Hinden

That "cynicallydepressed" profile you found says that the guy lives in China. The video on his profile is of a Portuguese building in Macau.

Yesterday, Pete mentioned on Twitter that he was in Macau. In fact, it wasn't until after the event with the chest that Pete mentions flying to Taiwan.

Where that leads, I have no idea. I saw this all start to unfold last night when I couldn't sleep. I wondered how long it would take before it made its way here! Smile

Ancient language codes, music codes, psychiatric stuff, religious overtones!

What more could I ask for in an ARG?

Pregunta DeLeon = ask DeLeon
Alex DeLeon is the vocalist of The Cab, which is a band from the same genre as Fall Out Boy and they collaborated before.
Maybe he has "the key"?

So, could be OOG. (might be the author/PM?)

Also, I'm assuming that the "strangest-thing-ever" post is IG rather than a player actually being found in whilst on holiday in China. If so, I wonder why he had "game" as a possibility - kinda makes the curtain a little see-through.

Hi Brax! Just thought I'd put in my two cents about the Pregunta.

Pregunta can be translated as the imperative conjugation of the verb to ask (as Abraxas has said: Ask DeLeon), which would be directions for further clues.

However, if a native speaker hears it without reading it Pregunta DeLeon, may sound like "Pregunta de León", in which "pregunta" is a noun meaning "question" (ie "The Question of the Lion" or "A Lion's question").
Unfortunately, the only thing I can find is a website about a charlatan offering "friendly advice for fellow travelers". It is called, "Dear Lion" and is like a "Dear Abbey", where you expose your innermost fears, and troubles publicly and have them answered by someone who basically has no clue! Wink (which is obviously OOG, but I'm leaving a message anyway because I object to what they do! Twisted Evil).

ETA:
OK, OK, I felt bad about it and did not leave the message! Razz
BTW if anyone wants to have a look it is:

Talking of God and madness makes me hopeful for some Cthulhu action.

Speaking of Lions, isn't Jesus referred to as a lion here or there?

Quote:
As for "Jesus the Lion," there is a wild, threatening, and unsafe side to Jesus. In Mary's hymn, the Magnificat, which Sean read as this morning's First Lesson, the prospect of Jesus's birth is welcomed with words that are quite on the wild, unsafe, and "lion-like" side Listen:

"The Lord has shown strength of arm,

and has scattered the proud in the thoughts of their hearts.

The Lord has brought down the powerful from their thrones, and lifted up the lowly;

The Lord has filled the hungry with good things,

and sent the rich away empty." (Luke 1:51-53)

I'm good with religious connections. Count me in, if this manages to stay interesting.

"Dear Friends, Dear Enemies" probably refers to friendsorenemies.com, which hosts band videos and such, including Fall Out Boy's and The Cab's.

Also, http://petewentz.com/post/145094994/pete-wentz-got-punkd. The link in the title links to Alex DeLeon's blog.
