Hi,

I'm one of the admins from Tron-Sector and I just wanna say that thanks a lot for all of the awesome stuff you guys have posted as well as helping figure out this game. Very Happy

I'm not naming names but some members of Tron-Sector are kinda hard to get a long with and they don't really have good internet etiquette, which makes my job as an admin fairly hard. I'm not sure, but someone probably got offended and created a ruckus and probably what caused this misunderstanding and so-called "flame war". Fortunately, nothing really bad happened.

Anyways, thanks a lot for all the stuff you guys have done on the ARG. I really appreciate it Very Happy

I'll try to keep you guys up to date on any insider info that I've come across. I have a friend who's friends with Steven Lisberger, the director of Tron and we're in the process of building a "Tron Archive" featuring never-before-seen production photos, etc.

Someone got an audio recording of the trailer (really poor quality though). You can hear Bruce Boxleitner (Alan Bradley)'s voice fairly well and a little bit of Sam and Flynn voices too:

I don't think it quite works like that. Now, two cameras with a palne polarizer in front of both on the other hand....

I'm not encouraging this action, I'm just musing on the optics involved.

Optics and Ethics.
How to do it, but why you shouldn't

The 3d effect works thus:

There are two projectors. Each projects an image from a slightly different perspective, and the light from each is polarized 90 degrees off from the other.

Each of the two lenses in the 3d glasses is polarized to allow the light from one of the projectors to pass through it, while blocking the light from the other projector.

If you put one lense in front of a camera and filmed the action on the screen, it should essentially record a conventional 2d version of whatever was taking place on screen. (It would be sort of the same as watching it with the glasses on, but one eye closed.)

Those are the optics; it is easily do-able. (Actually Broklynite's suggestion would record it in actual 3d, but of course you'd need a more elaborate and expnsive set up.)

As for the ethics, it would be simply wrong to do this, and even MORE wrong to subsequently post the recording online. Disney DOES own the trailer, and and may even be counting on some people being so into getting a preview of TRON:Legacy that they would be willing to pay to see Alice in Wonderland just because the trailer will be shown. (I was lucky enough to see it on the 27th, but really want my gf to see it too, in 3d, so we're going to Alice probably on the day it comes out; plus, I want to see it again myslef -- over and over and over LOL!)

Let's not forget that they are creating something we all really love, and that it would simply be "bad manners" (to say the least, not to mention the illegality) to abuse their intellectual property in this way.

Plus, let's face it, it will be online soon enough, and legally so as well!

I'm not being sarcastic when I say this...

Dude, I wish more people understood that fact!

Consider me schooled and lesson learned Sad

I never really gave it much thought at all, and now reading some of the responses.... the only recording device I will have on me is my cell phone which will be on silent and remain in my pocket for the entire showing.

I however will wear my Flynn Lives T-shirt just because I like it so much Very Happy

Although I can't share the viewing of the trailer with people, I have put together the transcription of it over at http://www.chaoticgeek.com
I'm dying to see the trailer again, even though I've had the opportunity to do so twice already, so I do understand how eager people are for it.
Can't wait for more to be released as I'm having fun getting friends hyped up for this too, even if they weren't Tron fans before now Very Happy

Hmm, I could theoretically leave work Thurs. night and see the midnight premiere of Alice (and the trailer, of course) and still have time to sleep well before my work on Friday...

I'd already hoped to see Alice in the theater. It's a Tim Burton film starring Johnny Depp with the score by Danny Elfman - it can't be all bad. It's got a pretty interesting interpretation of one of my favorite fictional characters too - the Cheshire Cat.

anyone figure anything out about the number 9 handwritten in the wallets on the tag?
Sorry for the super late reply.

I just checked my wallet and there's a "1" written on my tag. How neat. #1!

Please stop all of this now. Those of us who have to catch up on the thread do NOT appreciate having to sift through all this nonsense.
THANK YOU. I just read through 30 pages of BS.

EDIT: And also late (real life caught up with me) here are Flickr'd pictures of the cache. Geotags should be there too.

ALSO. Being born blind in one eye makes seeing in 3D impossible. All this 3D gimmicky bullshit is pissing me off.

Another afterthought... /derez is probably nothing right now, but has anyone tried "reindeer" "flotilla" ?

Yeah critical response is really mixed: http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/10009599-alice_in_wonderland/

I love seeing movies where people have very strong and diametrically opposed opinions... Tron was very much in that vein!

according to the tron FB page there are 4 days remaining for the trailer ;

Code:

Tron  Join us as we count down to the Tron Legacy trailer debut! In anticipation of the trailer's premiere, one new image will be revealed each day this week that you can share with your friends. Check it out here: http://bit.ly/TronCountdown

On that Facebook page its says "BE THE FIRST TO SEE THE TRON TRAILER IN 3D AND IMAX 3D WITH ALICE IN WONDERLAND ON MARCH 5th"

This means the trailer is NOT meant to be discovered or unlocked until AFTER March 5th or else this would be false advertising by Disney...

If we were to unlock it...it would be everywhere like wildfire on the social networks..

Obviously we are at a pause in the game...maybe more clues will be unveiled soon after March 5th...once most of the world has gone to see Alice.
