so are you saying we wont have our badges anymore?

Yes, they'll be gone! Well, yes if it turns out that all of your data is lost whenever you turn off your computer.

By which I mean no, the data should (hopefully) be safe.

Thanks Agent Lex...
I especially like the "the box with our profiles went boom." part! Hilarious simplification!!! LOL

Had just woke up and like always, I check forums before I hit the IG-sites... so this saves me an hour or so... gee.. what shall I do!?

The tl;dr - yeah, it's an OOG server issue, not an IG thing we have to worry about. Hey, this is Tron, a computer-centric franchise, the possibility was going to come up eventually.

The long of it:
It looks like their SQL server either went completely offline, or for some reason the password changed or another connectivity issue. The error given when trying to login to Flynn Lives tells us this, and it's quite obvious all of our user profiles are stored on an SQL server. The forum data, though static, was also likely stored in SQL, so it could be easily updated, which is why that's gone missing too.

It's OOG because all places where you'd need a user ID, e.g. Encom and Dumont, are giving similar errors. These profiles are definitely all linked - logging into Encom for the first time gives a Flynn Lives achievement - so they're all going to be on the same server in the backend.

That and the user area of 42's own site is out of commission, with the same error.

In layman's terms: there's 2 boxes, the box that builds the page and the box that has our profiles and other data on it. The box with our profiles went boom.

For the love of all that is holy...

I just finished blowing up my third lot of 999 recognizers since there was some sort of error that prevented the badge from registering the first two time, and now this? How many recognizer genocides do I have to commit?

Until you get the badge, my friend!

Ok, just checked. All of the Flynn Lives sites that don't ask for login are fine, just the ones that do. I don't think our profiles are lost; we just can't login right now due to a possible server error. I'm sure 42 Entertainment's fixing it right now, either way.

That's all for now. I'll check back later to see if the login sites are working again. Ok?

Their sites are hosted on Amazon Web Services. So, yes, they have plenty of backups.

Hey, things happen guys. Don't freak out.

Everything seems to be working now, logins and profiles are all back up.

Blasted my FOURTH set of 999 recognizers and finally got the badge. Praise Jeebus.

4,000 recognizers! Sheesh! Maybe if you're lucky they'll send you four pieces of paper! Wink

Aside from talking of the errors too much, I thought I would share this lovely picture from GeekFilter's flickr that sparked much more of my interest with it:

Has anyone seen this on their place yet?.. ;3

Ha, I'm actually slipping Flynn Lives into my Comic too. Should be fun, I have already worked a FL poster in and plan on getting a Bit snuck in too... Cool

Am I the only one vaguely amused that the website given for us to print the trailer tickets out from is still up?
