Curious. He is riding it like a motorcycle, not forming into it like a lightcycle. Just sayin'.

Looks to me like he's stopped, and looking over his shoulder. Not riding.

So you're saying that every time their velocity reaches 0, they are unable to stay attached? In the original movie, let alone in the proofs and such they've always been able to look backwards while driving.

He could be in the process of getting on or off of the cycle... we don't have much context in the still image. Wink

I might as well post it here, since it could be pertinent to the arg. Just posted it in the forum. Baased on the last code we got for HelloFlynn (urt...)

the note gives us a point of reference between tron time, and real life time.
It states:
Quote:
"the organism would experience 1,000 years for every one year of our time on earth".

Whats crazy about this is that Kevin Flynn has been missing for over 20 years. Do the simple math, and you'll note that
Kevin Flynn has theoretically been in the tron universe for over 20,000 years

That, put together with the you have no idea" line from the older trailer, and it gets you thinking...

This is annoying. My calculations way back when indicated years in the millions, based on how long he was in in the original movie.

Incidentally, I just did a quick calculation worth seeing.

So, from the original movie it looked as though he spent at least a day in the computer world. I'd have guessed maybe three, but let's use one as a lower estimate. When he returned, the time taken was so short that the chair hadn't even fallen back yet- near-instantaneous. However, for ease of calculation, let's say it was one second. So, one computer day = 1 real second. I can walk you through my calculations if you really want, but essentially it works out to this: twenty years in our lives equals 1,728,000 years in the computer world.

Almost two million years.

The mind boggles.

I just feel the need to point out that 20,000 years is a pittance. And I don't believe it.

Yea, I agree with your calculations as well. Its literally a canon issue we are dealing with here. At the end of the day, some liberties are clearly taken wrt tron time, at least in regards to helloflynn

Actually, I think that both ideas maybe right, since in the chronology, it distinguishes between the original grid, and the new one Flynn built. So, it maybe that in the Encom Mainframe, the original calculation holds, while in Flynn's setup, the temporal relationship is shorter, and thats where he got the 1000 years for every one year.

I...could buy that. I think it was more a matter of either laziness or plausability. A man lives and stays sane for 20,000 years is difficult enough to conceive. 2 million years? Hell, Lazarus Long was only the tiniest fraction of that age. I'm not sure if he would qualify as human anymore at that point.

But it's be a fun idea to play with, no?

Ok, so we are 1 week post to the new trailer and a few days post of SDCC. I wasn't expecting something huge to come out at this point, but even an update or review of the events would be nice. For those who took part in the Dark Knight ARG, is this one following any kind of similar line to that one? I only ask since I'm curious about what kind of direction we might be heading in. Anyway, I didn't want to post this in one of the other mission type threads since that's not where it belongs. Looking forward to where we're going with Flynn Lives.

My personal opinions, unsupported by any hard evidence: I do not believe that "Flynn Lives" is intended to be similar in format to "Why So Serious?" I suspect that we are now on another break -- I believe that's what happened after the Comic-Con events last year -- but I do expect more closer to the film's launch date.

[OT] Signing up with 42E

This is a bit off topic, but I was wondering how many of you have signed up on 42E's website so you know when they have other ARGs starting up? I like what I've heard about the DK ARG and this one has been amazingly fun. Do you all recommend signing up with them?
