I'm a little ticked about the Flynn Lives shirts. Several of us who've been playing this ARG for a long time don't even have the shirt. Now they're just gonna hand them out like they're nothing to ppl who barely care? I'm sorry, but WTF?! I'm sorry that I went a bit OT and ranted but come on, I can't be the only person who feels this way.

I think it's a complex question, honestly. On the one hand, I am sure a number of us are ticked about a lack of various swag, even though we have been members and participants in the ARG. On the other hand, if you have been a participant, then you probably have received *some* swag, which would seem to indicated that you should be happy you got something. Back to the first hand, one could argue that we are doing the advertising work for these companies. If so, shouldn't they be trying to reasonably keep us happy? We are like unpaid interns, who work and work, and the only thing we get in return is for them to pump the tires of our bicycle. In our case, the work is going around and spreading the movie by word of mouth. I don't know about you folks, but I have shown the various trailers to dozens of people who had no idea that the movie was being made, let alone released. For the cost of a couple of pins, a few postcards, and a couple of websites?

::shrugs:: You can tell which side I tend to lean on. But honestly, it isn't a simple case. And what items we have received have been really nice, and we should be happy to have them. No, really. I got to play Space Paranoids, I got postcards which are so awesome I plan to frame them, I got to see a 3D trailer before anyone else (except people in the ARG of course), I got to meet a whole lot of really nice people with similar interests as me, I got some cool pins, I got to play a really fun game with a lot of cool people. Would I like some of the items which were exclusives to various things? Yes. Do I think that it sucks that I didn't get fill-in-the-blank? Yes. Do I think that Disney mismanaged certain aspects (like playing the 2 minute trailer only once)? Yes. Have I nonetheless had a good time overall and am happy to have played? Yes.

I agree with your view. We've received a lot of unique swag that people who have attended cons haven't. Unfortunately cons like Comic-Con are premier marketing events so they are going to get prime things handed out to the crowd to try and promote the movie.

One thing I wish would happen is that if you have a certain number of accomplishments done a underground Flynn Lives "store" would open up and you could get or buy or just pay shipping for items that were distributed at cons. Maybe each accomplishment is worth a certain number of points you could "spend".

I'd love to get a Flynn Lives t-shirt but, from what I see, they don't come in 2XL so I'd have to take an alternative route. Which kinda irks me since many fans are bigger people.

Swag gripes aside - this has been a fairly long hiatus, no? And not a single communication since the Con?

Was the club really the End of the Line?

Eh, as you see with a lot of marketing ARGs periods of waiting for the next phase happen. You gotta look at this from 42Entertainments point of view. Even though to them they very much get into the game aspect of this; the Tron ARG is a marketing campaign. Disney pays them a set amount of money to conduct viral advertising like this. Yes, they could design a campaign that spans nonstop through the entire advertising period; right up to the release date of the movie. However, I believe by taking their time and splitting the game up into chunks they are giving themselves more time to increase the overall quality of each of those chunks. Not to mention if they were to spread the funds available for the game over the entire time period then they would have to put out cheaper swag so that they could accommodate for the longer time.

So as much as I'm getting antsy for the next phase of the game I believe that 42Entertainment is doing an excellent job with making this ARG an incredible interactive story, and supplying us with quality memorabilia for us to remember our ventures. Although I will side with you in that they should at least add a little communication. I mean they haven't done any updates to the site in forever. A small article about the adventures at any of the cons would have been an afternoons work to put out.

Oh, I totally agree and didn't mean to sound ungrateful for what we've received, I just kind of hold the shirts as something of a "uniform" for the ppl participating. That will be my "final thought" for that concern. Onward and upward....

I agree about the hiatus, let it end and put us back to work.

I'm in the same boat with getting antsy for an update. The last ARG I was involved in was There's Something in the Sea for BioShock 2, and I'll admit, the daily updates spoiled me a bit.

As much as I'm enjoying Flynn Lives, I wish that 42 Entertainment would take a page from 2K's book and have smaller online updates more frequently to keep the story going and to keep people interested and involved in between major events. 2K was able to give out some great swag and hold cool events, but the biggest part of it was following the story online through small daily updates.

I'm not trying to complain by any means, just giving my two cents. I love the campaign so far, but I think it'd be even better if they filled the gaps with small online updates akin to SitS.

Whenever these big gaps between events pop up I'm always worried that the game is continuing and that I've just missed something. I've been going over everything I got at SDCC to see if maybe there was a clue I missed but so far I've got nothing. And it sounds like the last con with a Tron presence (Toronto I think) was pretty quiet.

Also, adding to the t-shirt gripe, can we get a variety of sizes? Some of us are kind of small. I'm not expecting a ladies size small or anything but a men's size small or medium would be nice. Its actually really hard to tailor in an xl that much! I dig the idea of unlocking a FL store through acheivements so that way we could order those odd sizes. And they could make patches that we could order if we had unlocked the acheivements. :3

I seem to recall that they had a variety of sizes. My fiance got a medium, while I got an XL. I believe that they did also have a small.

Oh yay! Now to find someone willing to part with a small, I've only seen xl and l on ebay so far.

I haven't seen a small, but last time I checked, there was a Medium floating around, let me see if I can find the link…

EDIT: Ah, here it is, good luck:

I came into this and missed getting a shirt, which I would love to get one of. but I hold out hope that maybe, by some chance, near the end of the game, 42E will send out some shirts to those who played but missed the chance to get them, possibly based upon the number of badges you have or which ones you have.
I do like the idea of a swag shop.

Talking about FL T-shirts on eBay, someone's selling their FL postcards (for the optimistic price of $74.99!):
