if the charger is uk it may a different voltage, make sure you do not damage your phone. not only would that suck for your trophy but it may also jeopardize the game for the rest of us.

Contact

All I need is to figure out a contact to ask and then I'll know one way for the other. The phone uses the same voltage/battery, merely a different charger. I'm just as happy to toss it in a drawer anyway, never been a big fan of cells. Even less so with GSM.

TSo I need to keep the phone as is? It's globally roaming on Rogers, I CANNOT call out on it though, and the charger is English(UK), no biggie I'll just use my daughter's charger. I can't even tell what the number is. So you guys can actually use your phones? DAMN

Making and (once you know the number) receiving calls shouldn't hurt things a bit, so long as you realize you'll use up the balance on the phone and need to add more. When you say it's roaming on Rogers, do you mean it's a Rogers branded phone? Is there any other labeling on the phone? If you can take some pics and upload it, we'd all appreciate it.

The pic I saw of the Paris phone doesn't show a carrier brand that I can see, but it most certainly is not the same US Virgin Mobile prepaids seen in the US drops.

ETA: The Madrid drop was a total washout, and the Toronto drop went awry - they didn't let that 'destroy the game'. If Traffic Jammer manages to hose his phone it's going to be his loss more than anyone else's.

The charger does whatever conversion the plug is made for, and the same model of phones are sold all over the world. It's easy to go to a local store and match the phone to a charger. If it's a standard USB jack on the phone, you might even be able to simply charge it by using a USB cable to your computer - although not all phone support this, just a data connection.

Whoa, whoa, back up a second... God, I'm offline for a few hours and six pages show up. What is this about? How'd you get this?

*EDIT* Bah.. It's not "FL" as in Florida... It's "FL" as in "Flynn Lives".

*sulks in corner*

When you got your ticket for the screenings, this was a new badge in your flynnlives.com profile.

Sight Change?

Hmm. It may be nothing, but I noticed in the past hour in flynnlives.com/discussionforums that the user 'SkateItOut's join date changed from 1/4/2009 to 9/3/2008.

Like I said, may be nothing.

Good eye. They also corrected the number of posts for one of the other threads... i believe these are just 42E correcting continuity mistakes. (and also proving that they do read these boards. Both items have been mentioned as questionable clues.)

Thus far every phone in the US I can find pictures of have been Kyocera Melo S1300 on Virgin Mobile USA (prepaid):
http://www.kyocera-wireless.com/s1300-phone/
Those are CDMA using the Sprint network natively (as all V-Mo USA basically do).

The Paris, London, and Toronto phones are all Motorola L6 phones, although I'm not sure on what carriers:
http://www.motorola.com/motoinfo/product/details.jsp?globalObjectId=99
Those are GSM phones (SIM card). If those phones are unlocked, then any SIM could be inserted while preserving the ability to re-insert the SIM they came with for use with whatever service they were activated on. You do want to be careful about where contacts and messages are saved, since you could transfer your personal things onto the game phone. You might actually want to copy the contacts and texts from the game phone to your personal one, since you could then preserve that for your own fun and dispense of the phone as you desire.

Curiously, the London drop got a North American style plug adapter with their phone. I can't clearly see what the Paris phone power adapter is.

Has nobody posted the Encom International Website yet? (http://encominternational.com/default.htm) or was it in the 5 pages that went so quickly? I'm looking through it now... pretty cool

[Edit] crap - sorry, just saw it was already on the wiki!

[edit 2] can we assume there will be hidden stuff there (like "/something"?)

Good evening everyone!
I've never participated in an ARG before, but when I got word that Tron was going to, well-I committed to it. It's been a very fun and very different "thing" to do!

Well, I didn't get the Phoenix Drop. Here is the story, 4pm: got locale, got in car and headed to Tempe(not Phoenix) 2nd time 42E has done this.
Got to the Cinemas at 4:23, not too shabby, but Traffic was Horrible.

Got in, found the guy, said Eight bit, and said already taken, about 15 minutes ago, which means the person who picked it up was real close. So the guy told me, at 4:05 a guy showed up and got the bit, 5 minutes. To you sir, I tip the hat, but my only complaint, If you say it is going to be in Phoenix, put the drop in Phoenix, don't make it Tempe, Mesa like you did twice before

16:00:40 I was running to my truck, as the address was literally two blocks away.

16:07:00 I pulled into the game shop on the opposite side of the theatre, and immediately knew it wasn't it.

16:08:30 I swing my truck into a spot in front of the theater, and quickly scan the lot for anyone standing around. It immediatly clicked "Movie theaters have video games!" and I ran to the door.
I barreled into the game lobby and am quite sure everyone heard me say "Eight Bit!" For my first time ever doing this to be scooping up the actual prize is something else! Total luck, and I'm sorry-I should have waited around and gave out the other two codes.

16:12:00 After calming down, I''m instructed to call the single contact on the list the phone has (aptly named "Contact Me"). I'm then walked by the operator on the other end to the rear of the strip mall, and then to a row of back doors to the various businesses. She then directs me to the drain pipe to the right of a certain door, and to reach inside to claim my prize.

I've got the phone charged and have already spoken to VirginMobile to make sure I can add minutes just in case (I can). I use Virgin pre-pay as well, and from the looks of how they set up the phone there is a cash balence (at .20 per minute) of about $2.50 left and 9 bonus minutes. Virgin gives you 90 days to add funds from the original date of loading or else you lose your number; according to this phone funds have to be added by May 19th, 2010 or the number gets recycled.

Count me in on helping if and when something else comes up in the Phoenix metro area!

Minneapolis Operative here to help!

I am new to all of this, but I was fortunate enough to find the contact at GameWorks in Block E of downtown Minneapolis yesterday afternoon. You can find some of my posts (helpful or not) by searching @badhand77 on twitter. I'll also be posting things I have scanned, shot or captured on Flickr:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/45517290@N00/sets/72157623510347856/

Yesterday, I jumped on flynnlives.com, saw the cities announced, saw mine was on the list, got geeked. I continued to check every hour on the hour for each announced batch of cities, reading the PDFs for each city. When the 2pm announcement happened, the Portland PDF came up with the Minneapolis information instead. I left immediately thinking I had a head start (didn't matter anyway).

I sat and waited for the agent in GameWorks while a friend looked around downstairs. The time passed - 3:00, 3:15, 3:30. Nothing. I was on my way out when I spotted a guy at the bar with a black tee over a western shirt. Figuring that he was already done with his mission, I told him the password (Full Tilt) without expecting anything. To my surprise he turned to me and said, "Follow me." I was pumped. It turns out that there was this giant private party and he was buried in the back of that room, so no one thought to go through the private party to look for him. He'd been hanging with a friend playing Centipede (the clue was, "you still have a lot of legwork to do"). He gave me a Virgin prepaid cell and told me to call the number in it. "Call Me" was the only saved entry, and it was a local number (most likely routed to a call center somewhere).

The person on the other end of the line gave me turn by turn instructions through the skyway system to the drop spot (behind a Pepsi machine). Nothing was there. The agent returned and pointed me in the right direction (behind a bush). And I'm now the proud owner of a custom screenprinted retro velcro Tron wallet.

When I got back to my office, I entered the card codes. Later, I returned to GameWorks to take advantage of their blacklights - I checked everything in the wallet, but found nothing other than the "Flynn Lives" stamps on the front of the cards.

So now I'm hooked and awaiting further instructions from FLO. I promise to be more concise in the future.
